Why replace the Celeron, it is a 2.93GHz, plenty fast enough and the newer Celeron Ds aren't as crippled as the older ones. The mobo probably only supports the 533 FSB Pentium 4s, and the Celeron Ds have a 533 FSB. The only major difference is no HT on the Celerons.

If you really want to upgrade the processor, you may want to consider a mobo upgrade as well as to play 3D games, you will have to survive on a PCI graphics card, which are much slower than their AGP or PCI Express counterparts

Agree entirely with Guitarmanliam. The Celeron D should be sufficent with most software & applications that you throw at it. Still find it unbelieveable that they are selling their most recent models (albeit budget class) without an AGP slot. Bet the salesman did'nt tell you that one.

I agree totally, everyone else usually gives an AGP slot on mid-range up. The Fujitsu Siemens PCs we get over here even have full-size ATX mobos

All,

Thank you for the valuable suggestions and information.

I wont be doing 3D games on this computer, but my daughter will be using it for her College courses. They may be Video intensive so I may have to look at a Video board upgrade.
