You need at least a 450Mhz processor. I am sure that Xp will install on something lower but be aware that perforence wise... It will suck. |

You can actually install XP on a 486. It probably would be agonizingly slow, but it can be done. Give it a whirl and see how performance is. I've never used XP on anything lower than a Cele 900, but on that system, it's fast enough w/ 384 MB Ram. |

I am wondering will this mobo take a 500 meg. Because I can get them real cheap, for about 10 bucks. Yeah I had a 900 meg with XP Pro on it , I sold it. But I am a musician and I want to move this rig to the basement where my drums, guitar, and keyboard is. So I can download programs like Cake Walk. I am going to get another rig soon, but I want this one up to par. But I think this rig can take 500 Mhz. What do you think ? And besides the skimpy power supply, I like this machine. |

I seem to remember that someone got a Tualatin cpu with a powerleap adapter running in a Como-3 board at 2/3rds speed. So with a rated 1400 cpu, they managed to get 924mhz. Not positive about this though Don't plan on getting any more speed out of it--it's unlikely to get past 924 without some overclocking--and you are already running the system somewhat out of spec with this option anyway. I have XP Pro running on a 500 mhz machine with 384 MB RAM. Thing runs just fine for the kids and their older games. All other apps like MS Office run well also. Would not want to try and run a real high end game thoguh, I think I tried running "Finding Nemo" on it and it was flakey. |

for a while, I ran XP Pro on a 400 Celeron with 256MB RAM and it wasn't too bad. It had an AGP slot, so got a GeForce 2 MX200 at a car boot sale for £10 and played Call Of Duty on V. Low settings. Was very very slow though |

Even with my sisters old Toshiba Value computer with 128mb of ram and Celery 350, XP Pro works like wonders! She can even run office 2k3 flawlessly. :ph43r: |
