Hi. I'm after a bit of advice. I've got a E570, with the 845G mobo, running a 2.0 ghz Celeron. From looking at the info, it appears that it is possible to place the P4 2.8 (533 FSB) into this board, but looking at the forums, it seems people are generally favouring the P4 2.4.... so:

1) can i use the 2.8, or is there a reason the 2.4 is favoured?

2) will my celeron heatsink and fan fit the P4?

Sorry if i sound like a noob, but i am... previously only added memory, sound card and graphics card.

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

I've got an Imperial G board with a 2.6 Northwood running in it and have never had any problems, never seen the G being used with 2.8's though.

1) People probably favour the 2.4 as it will generate less heat

2)Yes, but it might damage your processor, I recommend buying another heatsink

OFFICIAL SEARCH ENGINE.. & BIOS BADBOY..!
Looking at Intel's site the 845G may very well support the 3.06Ghz/HT CPU depending what version chip you have and "E's" Bios.
