Hello all

I have an emachines tower 667 which is at the moment running as a print server with linux.

I need to identify the bios id string - it should be on the boot up screen bottom left hand corner - but as I've found put its not.

I googled for hours last nite and realise this is a wider problem to emachines. Does anyone know if I am able to id the bios string from my pc itself - where is it?

I have found a site which apparently confirms the string number, but I would like to see if I can get this myself from my own machine.

Very grateful for any help with this.

Cheers.

Thanks for this - not sure it'll work on my system though as I run Linux. However, I can Google to look for linux equivalents. I was though, rather hoping it could be retrieved without the use of additional s/w, but i'm getting the picture that this aint so!

OFFICIAL SEARCH ENGINE.. & BIOS BADBOY..!
What brand Bios do you have? You could try WinFlash and just open it up then click on the view tab and look under Bios Information. Not sure if this works with Phoenix Bios but my be worth a try. After finding your info just go to file tab and exit.

Thanks for this Lubner. I do know that my BIOS is Phoenix - buts that's about all. I think WinFlash is for Windows use only? I guess maybe I'll have to use my restore disk/s and reinstall M$ temporarily if I want to use any of the packages mentioned in this thread. It all seems a lot lof hard work for what is usually easily accessible info :(

Thanks again.
