An AGP MB Versus vid card question; 2x, 4x, 8x

I want to upgrade this Emonster 500a's Video card. The problem I am having is the sorting out the 2x, 4x, 8x ratings. I understand the graphics companies ratings that one sees on their retail boxes.

This is what this Emonster's AGP info shows,

Graphic Interface AGP
AGP Status enabled, rev. 1.0
AGP Data Transfert Rate 2x
AGP Max Rate 2x
AGP Side Band Addressing supported, enabled
AGP Aperture Size 64 MBytes

A rev. 1.0 is a 2x. Is this 2x the same as the BUS: AGP 4x/8x found on retail boxes? I know that 2x is slow/lower bandwidth and different voltage than 4x or 8x, but am I in the same ballpark? The bottom line is what vid card can I use in this machine?

Most all cards are backward compatible with the lower standard.
I've got a 4x GeForce3 Ti500 in my eMonster.
If you go with an ATI card in your eMonster you will most likely have to upgrade bios to v1.13 to get it to post.
