FIRST MATE
Its friday, the Cardinals just beat the cubs! (Any other Cardinals fans here?) Now I'm bored and reminiscing the good ole 600IS. Once Grizz gets online and sends me a bill for the stuff (hint hint Grizz) and I get the stuff next week I will sell the Anaheim2a and there will be no e-machine left for me. Here is what has become of the emachine's organs:

Monitor - given to friend
Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers - TRASH
Cables - hmm who knows
Processor - E-bay
Memory - Shorted Out
120W Power Supply - Blew Up (surprise!)
Floppy - in a 200Mhz system in my closet
Case - Trash (had fun throwing it off of a cliff first though :D )
Windows ME restore disc & manual - trash
CD-Rom - friend
Harddrive - in my sister's computer
Heatsink/fan - on a K6-2 500 in the kitchen
Modem - uhh probably the same place as the cables

Finally, last but not least, the Anaheim2a. The motherboard, the heart of a good system, the frustration for E-machines buyers. No upgradability/compatibility, yet its Ironic that it's the last part of the machine I ever used.

I will sell it (here or ebay) and hopefully it will find a good home and bring hundreds of questions being posted on this forum.

I will still come here, even though I wont have an emachine, just because its what I have done every day for what seems like years, even though the bartpe forums at 911cd.net get a lot of my hits...... I wonder how many others visit this forum that don't have emachines.

james

PS I just noticed the part at the bottom of the forums list that says "Most users ever online was 31 on Dec 1 2003, 04:20 AM" - Ironic thats its 4:20, do people visit this while they are high :P? Or does that only count if its PM?

I totally understand James. While I am still using my e-Monster 600 and am ok with it's usability ... very little of the original components remain in the case. This group has walked me (baby steps) through learning how to do everything I needed to for me to keep this workhorse running.

My son is now getting into creating his own AMV's (animated/anime music videos). He is frustrated by the capabilities of our system. It's SOOOO SLOW is all I ever hear. Guess it's time to look to upgrade to a faster system. Sigh.

This trustworthy old horse won't be sent off to the glue factory. I'll move it into my room and work on setting up a network in the house so we can both be on line at the same time. Now that's what I'm talking about! Keeping up with the times. Guess I've got to do it! B)

Since my budget is limited and I've got a great LCD monitor already (I've got a cheapo monitor for me to use) - I'll probably be picking up one of the new "moo-machines" for my son to create on. Then I'll be asking more questions for the group!

Alas this message board along with a few others has been deemed a chat site so our great IT guys that run the front range mil.net have deemed it a no-no site to view from work.... My response was I bet the they have more people going to yahoo, ebay, hotmail, amazon etc, etc than actually using the internet capable pc's doing something semi-costructive or even remotely work related, I do work on pc's as a additional duty in my workcenter... GRRRRR... I will get it shortly James heheheh

is the software on each computer or is it on a server somewhere. If its on the computer just make a hidden win98 installation when they arent looking....

It reminds me of my senior year of high school I play fantasy sports all year while i was in classes and the IT guy kept find new ways to block the stuff, yet I kept finding ways around it.
I know fantasy sports are much funner than english, calculus and spanish, but messing with this IT was much funner....

Its on the servers at another base actually.... They run all internet access from one base now that serves three others here and one up in denver... It sucks, cant even use a alternate proxy site as access, the software detects them as well...
