Eventually I will have to cave in and buy a new PC. But until then, my old 333i is still up and running. Right now I have a ATI Rage 128 PCI 16mb card, which is a good card, but I was wondering if there ia a step higher that I can go considering that I still have this cruddy 120v OEM power supply? Could I go with an ATI 32mb card? Thanks! marx404 |

Im sure you could go up too one of the 64meg Radeon 7000 series cards, but I would be inclined to try a GF 4 MX420 64meg.. I guess it would depend on price, they are a bit cheaper than the Radeon 7000's |

I think I looked at those, but don't they require a 250w pS minimum? |

OZ ... The Great and Powerful!!

It may still work, but we know the Nvidia GF 2MX 32 mb will work as long as your power supply is not compromised or on the way out! That would be the next best thing. |

I had one of those Geforce 2 MX cards blow the powersupply. It would hang on bootup. Then after I took out the card parts of the motherboard were blown and it would randomly restart. If I were you, I would spend 40 bucks on a new case cuz then you would get a 300W PSU with it. And the newest PCI video card is the Geforce FX 5200 128mb PCI. |

Thanks, I think I have decided to keep my ATI Rage 128 16mb card for now just to be on the safe side. Typical of these pc's I have had to replace my PS already. I already have 3 fans, a CDRW, CD, modem, NIC and USB KB and mouse so I think I'm near pushing the limit on this poor little power supply. Besides, I already have a Playstation for gaming. I decided to hold out and keep my 333i running until the next OS comes out in early 2005 (Longhorn). Then, I will either buy a high-end system or build one myself. With true 64 bit systems on the way, it's worth the wait to save my money. I may do one more thing though and that's to upgrade my CPU one more time from a 400 Celeron to a 533 as seen on e4all, this can easily be done and shouldn't overburden my PS. That would help in the graphics are a tad too, I think. Cheers! Marx404 |

what Power supply did you replace it with? another oem one i imagine or else it wouldnt be an issue. I also am running a rage 128 w 16mb and its doing me pretty good still, just cant play these directx 9 games. can play some of the dx8 games with low settings. Dont know how much of a risk taker you are, but you can overclock your video card and get some added performance. If you want more info let me know. I also that the jump to the 533 would probably yield the best bang for the buck for you.How much memory and what OS are you running? |

I'm using a Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 64MB videocard with the KyroII - 4500 graphics processor, and have never had a problem playing anything. I can't always play the games with every video option turn on and set to high, but for the money I spent on it, I'm not complaining($100 about 20 months ago). It even handles Max Payne 2, which is DirectX9, but I think this is as far as I can take it, as I have most of the video options turn off or set to low. But it played Medal of Honor with everything turn on, and the only time it would slow down was after I had been playing it for about 3 hours straight. Lon C |
