I was just talking with Jazzy on the phone, and told her I would post pictures of my tiling job I did last weekend:

It is a slate/granite/travetine combo, was a lot of fun, but took me 3 days to complete.

I have a weird kitchen, is has a small foot print, only 12' by 12', but at the end of a large 12' by 35' room, and open to that room, so it seems a lot bigger. That cabinet are orginal from the 1920's refurbished and painted.

Here's a pic of the tile next to the old ugly brown 1970's linoleum that covers the entire room. I am replacing the rest of the room with laminate flooring next week, which I will do myself. Also saving up some $$ for granite countertops, which a friend of mine does. He's gonna get them for me cheap, but I have to help him install them.

About three days.

1. You need to tile and motar, let it sit 24 hours, then seal it, let is sit an hour or so. It was 12" x 12' pieces of 2" x 2" tile attached by mesh, so it was easy to cut.

2. Then you need to grout it let it sit for 24 hours.

3. Then you need to seal it a couple times, let that sit for 6 hours before you put appliances or foot traffic on it.

It's not hard work, it is physically a little demanding on you knees and back as the tiling took about 6 hours to set down, and the grout 2 before drying. The ripping off the linoleum was worse and took about a week.

It also has some mental challenges in terms of fitting tile, especially since my bar coutnertop cabinet is round.

It took our tile guy over 2 months to do our house... He did a really good job and everything was only $2,000 but he was SO annoying...

His name was Fred >___> I called him 'Jesus' because he was holy...

He was ALWAYS at my house... He would come over, talk to us and leave without doing any work... >__> Then he would invite people over to help him... For example, he didn't know how to remove the toliet so he had someone else do it...

Grossman's Bargain outlet, the tile 12 x 12 were $8 a piece. Same tile was $13 at Home Depot.
