news article from anime news network. (hopefully right place to post this O.o)

America's Cartoon Network has revealed at Georgia's Anime Weekend Atlanta convention this morning that it will end its Toonami programming block tonight after 11 years. The official announcement will be made during tonight's final run, with an "important message" during the 10:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET/PT timeslot. Naruto has been the only Japanese series in this Saturday evening block recently, but Toonami used to host a variety of Japanese-animated programs when it began as a weekday afternoon block in 1997. Among those titles were Voltron, Robotech, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Ronin Warriors, G-Force: Guardians of Space, Blue Submarine No. 6, Tenchi Muyo!, Cardcaptors, Zoids, .hack//SIGN, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, The Big O, Outlaw Star, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Cyborg 009, Duel Masters, Astro Boy, Gundam, Rave Master, Zatch Bell, One Piece, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Pokémon, MÄR, The Prince of Tennis, Megaman Star Force, Bakugan Battle Brawlers, and Blue Dragon. The Toonami Jetstream online streaming service will reportedly still continue, and Cartoon Network is working to import the Japanese-animated Dema****aa! Powerpuff Girls Z spinoff that is based on its own Powerpuff Girls series.

Two episode of Naruto are currently scheduled for tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The 2002 live-action Spider-Man film will run instead of Toonami on September 27, although most television listings have not been updated yet. Batman: Gotham Knight, this summer's Japanese-animated video tie-in to The Dark Knight film, will then run on October 4 at 8:00 p.m. After Batman: Gotham Knight, an episode of Naruto, "Powerful Helper," will run at 9:30 p.m., but there are no other episodes scheduled yet.

They are really hurting anime watchers, making it harder to watch anime legit. No matter what even if i saw a anime that was starting on toonami i still watched it, they always picked animes that were fun watching over and over. Adultswim is currently doing the same thing, moved 2 of their good animes (code geass and morbito to 5am and 5:30am) and leaving bleach at 11pm (fillers). Looking at next week tho still shows naruto on at the normal time (even tho they are currently in filler stage, almost done with them tho). Been wanting to see the batman animated movie tho, so that will be nice to watch.

Lets hope they still continue to air some sort of anime time to time, or TV is going to get really boring.

RIP Toonami thx for all the anime :(

Fyi, most big anime companies are very aware of fansubs... They care much less about importing/exporting their animes these days. Geneon gave up all together on their North American branch.

IMO toonami was only good 4 out of its 11 years. I won't miss it much, but I still think it sucks for closing down.

It sucked ever since they took Yu Yu Hakusho off. Still, I remember 6 years ago watching it every day at 5 pm, woo.

You said it yourself that it's a rumor. So why worry about it?

OK, how many times do I have to say this. Anime was a fad. The rating suck, that is why the don't do it anymore.

Toonami is being replaced by a block of Friday Shows:

Ben 10 Alien Force
Clone Wars
Secret Saturdays
Brave and the Bold (Batman team up series)

All these shows look good.
