I was listening to this news story on the radio yesterday, and it really made me angry. I don't want to generalize about Islam, but when is the last time you saw crowds of Hindus, or Christians, or any other religion you can think of marching in the street demanding that someone be executed... over a blasted TEDDY BEAR?

Is a perceived slight to Mohammed more important than this woman's LIFE?

I'm sure there are plenty of good people who are Muslims. There are also apparently large groups of mindless, bloodthirsty savages who are Muslim, who think that naming a teddy bear Mohammed is sufficient reason to murder a British schoolteacher. Any civilized human being ought to be outraged over this lunacy.

Most religions have absurdities to them. In some parts of the world, Hindus are a bit out of order. Around here, I see many Roman Catholic mad-dogs.

I am not justifying the fact that she is incarcerated for this. But, I will say that she was monumentally stupid for letting the kids name the teddy bear in the first place.

Considering she was in *Sudan*, just having the bear was risky enough. She played a stupid and reckless game. Does she deserve to be punished this severely? No. But, she did walk into this problem.

What Would Cap Do?

How can you punish a woman for a name that kids chose? See? This is why I am so against most organized religion Because they tend to be ran and governed by morons.

FYI, this was not a comment intended to insult anyone that subscribes to any such religions, this was instead directed at the leadership of those religions.

Especially the Catholics. :D

PS: Damn, but that was too easy.

That woman was the teacher. She was an authority figure in the class. She could, and *should*, have said "No way!" to the kids naming the bear.

It would have been a teachable moment about politically sound ideas, and not getting arrested

Do I think she was morally wrong? No. But, I am certain she was incredibly stupid, given where she was teaching.

Latest news is that she has been pardoned. Good, there is some hope for this world yet. :biggrin2:
