So I guess if enough people break the law, that means its OK to change the laws to suit them. Just wonderful, so if enough of us stop paying taxes will we be entitled to ask Congress to change tax laws? |

Looks like the will of the people was heard on this issue, the bill is DEAD! Now lets just hope Congress wont try to hide provisions of this illegal immigration bill into other bills. Between this and the sunsetting of the President's fast track authority, it looks like Congress is finally keeping SOME of the promises they made during last year's elections. Lets also hope Congress can do something about all the dangerous imports coming from communist China, not to mention the trade deficit we have with them. |

Really though, is the bill being dead much better. All Congress did was fob the problem off for another day. I agree that amnesty for all illegals is a bad move. I am for offering asylum in some limited cases. The skill based system is coneptually sound. But, we really need to concentrate on this country being able to produce its own skilled workers, rather than needing to recruit them from above. |

I agree that we still have problems, but no bill is better than a bad bill. I think there are already enough laws on the books for our Government to enforce. There should be no new bills until we can effectively control our borders and make sure the flow of illegals coming in are stopped. And yes, we really do need to concentrate on producing our own highly skilled workers, and bringing up wages for lower skilled workers so more Americans would be willing to do those jobs. Here in the Bay Area, there are no shortage of jobs unless you don't have a college degree. |

We have similar problems in Boston. Around here, there are also many student who work cheaply/for free as part of internships. That makes having anything less than a Masters's Degree a bad idea. |
