Canucks Prospects game

The UBC T-Birds hockey team played the Canucks Prospects team (all the rookies and draft picks) tonight. They do this every year before the season starts.

It was quite a fun game to watch. I'd never seen a hockey game in that arena before. It's quite small actually but it was jam packed. It was well over capacity.

UBC ended up winning the game 3-1 (one goal was an empty net with 10 seconds left). It's the first time they've ever beaten the Canucks team. The Canucks scored their first and only goal 17 seconds into the game. I thought it was going to be a rout. But it was a close, hard hitting game for the rest. UBC took the lead with about 5 minutes to go in the 3rd. It was a much more physical game then I thought it would be. Luc Bourdon, the Canucks #1 pick (10th overall) had a HUGE hit in the final minute. There were a couple of fights as well. (Keep in mind this was just an exhibition game)

I 'sort of' got to talk to Marc Crawford during warm up. We were standing behind the bench and he turned around and looked at us and said "Hey how's it going"

I've also now heard Mark Donnelly (the big opera singer who does the anthem at most Canucks games) sing O' Canada three days in a row. He sang it at our big pep rally thing on Tuesday. I went to a Vancouver Canadians minor league baseball game Wednesday night. He sang it there. And he sang it tonight. I'm going to the UBC football game home opener tomorrow might. I wonder if he'll sing it there as well.....
