Let's talk signings in here.

So far...
Gary Roberts to Florida
Joe Nieuwendyk to Florida
Adam Foote to Columbus
Derian Hatcher to Philly
Holik to Atlanta

It's been VERY interesting so far to say the least, many small market teams getting in on big name free agents.

Talk of Scott Niedermayer going to the Flames or Oilers
Jason Allison close to signing with the Leafs
Ziggy Palffy looking at Toronto, Detroit, and Florida
NY Rangers expected to make a strong push for both Forsberg and Naslund

The Flyers signed Derian Hatcher, Mike Rathje, and re-signed Chris Therien
Detriot re-signed Steve Yzerman
Boston signed Glen Murray and Shawn McEachern
Atlanta signed Bobby Holik
Chicago signed Adrian Aucion
Adam Foote signed with Columbus
Panthers signed Nieuwendyk and Roberts
Dallas re-signed Zubov

It's looking less and less likely that Naslund will re-sign with the Canucks :(

lots of news late tonight.

Chris Pronger has been traded from St. Louis to Edmonton for Eric Brewer, Doug Lynch and Jeff Woywitka.

Florida signed Martin Gelinas
Calgary signed Tony Amonte and Darren McCarty
The Rangers signed Canucks defensemen Marek Malik as well as Martin Straka from the Kings
Carolina signed Cory Stillman
Boston signed Dave Scatchard
and as Linz mentioned, Zhitnik has signed with the Isles

The NHL is being turned COMPLETELY upsidedown... all the small market teams CONTINUE to sign/trading for the big name players.

It pains me even more that the Leafs have yet to really do a thing.

I was so happy to hear that this morning. Although, it's for 6 million a year so as Dave Nonnis said, they probably won't really be able to go after any other big names now, until they at least get all their level 2 free agents signed.

But I don't really care. As long as we got Naslund back I'm happy. :)

I still can't find anything on the Paul Kariya thing so I'm begining to think it's not true.

Elsewhere today,
-Alexei Kovalev stayed with Montreal signing a 4 year/$18 mil deal. I was a bit surprised to see him stay with them
-Calgary re-signed Iginla to $7 mil/year for 3 years
-Pittsburgh signed Sergei Gonchar to a 5 year/$25 million deal
-Dallas signed defensemen Martin Skoula and there are reports they're close to re-signing Modano to a 5 year deal.

This is a bit of a surprise, Modano rejected the deal Dallas offered him today.

-Boston also just signed Brian Leetch

Manny Fernandez re-signs with Minnesota
Miroslav Satan signs with the Islanders
Bryan Berard signs with the Blue Jackets
Martin Rucinsky signs with NYR
Mathieu Schneider re-signs with Detroit

And the Oilers make another big trade, sending Mike York to the Islanders in return for Mike Peca.

Here is my Canucks summary:

So far they have Naslund, Bertuzzi, Jovo, Linden, Kessler, Auld, Baumgartner and Brookbank signed for a total of $18,914,333. The Salary cap is at 39 million a team.

Resricted free agents:
Bryan Allen (450K), Tyler Bouck(450K), Artem Chubarov(450K), Dan Cloutier(450K or sell), Matt Cooke(450K), Jason King(450K), Brendan Morrison (3 million), Mattias Ohlund (3 million), Jarkko Ruutu (450K or sell), Sami Salo (450K), Daniel Sedin (2 million), Henrik Sedin (2 million), Nathan Smith (450 or sell).
Total: 14.5 million give or take. (18.9m+14.5 m= 33.4m give or take, 6 million to throw around)

Un-restricted free agents:
Brad May (450K), Marc Bergevin, Mike Keane, Jaroslav Obsut, Mats Lindgren, Martin Rucinsky, Johan Hedberg, Magnus Arvedson, Joe DiPenta, Jeff Heerema, Justin Morrison, Peter Sarno, Johnathan Aitken, Tim Smith.
-All Players in my mind are worth no more than 450K, all of the players not in bold are 450K or sell. All the bolded players are 450K tops, no sell.
Total:
Players needed: 1.8 million.
Players to buy or sell: 4.5 million.

So the Canucks are looking at around 35 million of their cap after the finish buying or selling their players. Thats 4 million to go towards Neidermayer or Forsberg. I can see both players signing for 3 million each. So thats 2 million needed. But there is still more movement to be done, Sopel was a big one, if they can give a player like that up then they can give up others. So all in all, I can see both Neidermayer and Forsberg coming to Vancouver with minimal pain towards Vancouvers line ups.

Woah woah woah... Forsberg and Niedermayer signing for $3 million each???

Not a chance... and I find that comment even more SHOCKING based on that fact that just a bit earlier in your post you said that Morrison and Ohlund were worth $3 million a piece. If you're saying that Morrison and Ohlund could get $3 mil, I can't see you being able to justify Niedermayer or Forsberg each signing for $3 million a year.

EDIT: As I type this though, it's just announced that Forsberg has signed with the Philadelphia Flyers for 2 years and $10.7 million

There's also no way players like Matt Cooke and Sami Salo will sign for $500k or under. They'll either make way more in arbitration or the Canucks will just make a better offer.

We lost Malik and Sopel, so that free's up another 3 million, but I still doubt to see anymore big name signings.

and Sushi, of all the unrestricted free agents you posted, the only one the Canucks will try and get back is Brad May.

Martin Rucinsky has just signed with the Rangers but the Canucks said before they weren't going to try and bring him back. Arvedson's basically gone completely off the NHL radar. I haven't heard anything on him in a long time. Same with Mats Lindgren. I don't think he's ever really recovered from injury. And Mike Keane? I don't really know about him. The Canucks haven't really shown any interest in signing him and they were basically the only team that gave him a shot at training camp a few years ago. So he might have retired. I don't really know. Hedberg said his playing days in the NHL were done and he was going back to Europe for good. However I've heard reports a few teams are trying to get him, but not the Canucks.

Keep in mind, most of the Canucks' unrestricted free agents with the exception of Naslund and May, weren't even signed last summer before the season was cancelled. So I'd be quite shocked if any of them ended up in Vancouver.

-Detriot has signed Mathieu Schneider.
-Columbus has signed Bryan Berard
-Montreal signed Mathieu Dandenault
and the Flyers were over the cap after signing Forsberg, so they're reportidly going to deal Jeremy Roenick to LA.
