Name: Janus Pitt

Age: 46
-Birthday: May 24th, 1,000,013 AZ

Race: Human
Advantages:
-Well Rounded (Can do just about anything)
-Adaptable (Adapt easy to new surroundings)
-Quick Learner (Picks up new ideas faster)

Disadvantages:
-Weak Magic (Their magic is not up to par with other races)
-Easy to Possess (Make perfect vassals for sprits)
-Arrogant (Most races assume humans to be arrogant colonialists [NOTE: Pitt actually is an arrogant colonialist])

Sex: Male

Alignment: Between Chaotic Neutral and True Neutral (slowly switching to True Neutral)

Occupation: Explorer

Job Class: Fighter/Rogue

Appearance: Janus Pitt is a grizzled, wiry man in his mid-forties with deep, forceful green eyes and greying hair. He wears a black mustache and short beard. He dislikes all things regal, and thus dresses in common, practical clothes, usually with several concealed (or unconcealed, for that subtle intimidation affect) weapon holsters or scabbards. He has tanned, slightly leathery skin and a roughened appearance that indicates he's spent much time away from civilization.

Likes, Dislikes, Fears Hobbies, and Aspirations:
-Likes: The wilderness, exploration, leadership, careful planning, common people
-Dislikes: Monarchical government, dependence, fools, courtiers
-Fears: Being found by the Serdian Government
-Hobbies: Swordplay, gunnery, manipulation (strange, but true), reading (occasionally)
-Aspirations: Somehow neutralize the effect of his actions during the Revolution, fame, fortune, perhaps... the overthrow of the Serdian monarchy?

Personality: Janus Pitt is first and foremost a strange, dual character. On the one hand, he's a rugged outback explorer who tires of life in the urbane world of political intrigue; on the other, he's a man with astonishing (but perhaps slightly dark) charisma, who can convince almost anyone to do almost anything with the right argument.

Pitt is skilled in the ways of nature, having spent decades exploring some of Zelpha's most dangerous areas. He has a lifetime's experience with the sword and pistol, having fought more than his share of duels, and triumphed from a reasonable number. Though getting on in years, Pitt's abilities are still reasonably sharp.

Part of what characterizes Pitt is a pugnacious desire to keep going, despite the odds; yet, strangely, an equal part consists of his cynical belief that most things can be bought and sold, and compromise, willing or unwilling, is needed eventually.

In short, Pitt is complicated, like most, but perhaps more complicated than most.

History: Janus Pitt was born to a moderately wealthy family of the middle class of Galastar. He grew up in the cosmopolitan atmosphere of that great metropolis, rebelling against his respectable and staid parents to run around with a decidedly rough crowd.

Though gaining the best education his parents could buy, Pitt gravitated to the new and original. As a young and impressionable student, he joined the Revolutionary movement sweeping through Serdio with great vigor, and bound himself almost irrevocably to that cause.

Pitt served for years as an army officer in the Revolutionary army, eventually rising to the rank of Colonel. Though he was a military tactician and a good individual fighter, his ability to bind men to him and engender loyalty was where his talent truly shown. Still, Pitt had significant qualms over the revolution, especially after the reign (for it could truly be called that) of Terence Valonia began- how could he reconcile his love of the revolution for this monster of autocracy that had been created by General Valonia? Pitt left the Revolutionary army in disgrace, and sought his own way, returning briefly to Galastar.

This, perhaps, saved Pitt's life. In the blood and ruin at the end of the revolution, many of Valonia's commanders were summarily executed by mobs angry from 20 years of war and hardship (though, from Janus's view, the hardship had existed far before...). With the sovereignty of Galastar in doubt but the likelihood it would be ruled by Drake Rlugia, Pitt fled the kingdom, going as far away from his urban atmosphere as possible- into the Elvaan jungles of Eden.

Pitt was cynical enough by now to accept that though he had fought the Elvaans' daimyo, he had no quarrel with them now. Bereft of the idealism of his youth, Pitt began to take on more of his present, hardened outlook on life. But he had been drugged on adventure, and could not give it up.

Besides, Pitt's greatest weakness by far was (and still is) his ties to the Revolution and in particular the man damned throughout Sade, Terence Valonia. Pitt's break with Valonia means that he is no longer even welcome with the few underground enclaves that still support the Revolution; both anarchists and Serdian police have long memories.

Thus, for the past decade or so, Pitt has been on the run- first from Valonia's agents, then after his defeat from Serdio, and now due to the formation of the Sade Confederacy, throughout all of the Sade. But for Pitt, every danger is an opportunity- and this opportunity has been spent wisely.

First came several years spent with the Elvaan of deep Eden, learning the ways of the forest and exploring the depths of the fetid jungles in that wild part of the world. Then came a year traveling around the Holy Lands, picking up odd jobs that required a strong arm or one who knew the ways of Sade (giving him more damning testimony back home). And gradually Pitt traveled the world, each location more dangerous than the last- evading Serdian agents to enter Vulcan on behalf of a warlord with a need for Shii slaves; bounty hunting and plundering in the Highlands; recovering artifacts from the depths of Z.E.A.L.; and even a brief but catastrophic journey to Mistia, that resulted in Pitt barely returning alive.

But now, a wizened (and wiser) warrior, nearing fifty, seeks to make his peace with the establishment in his own unique way- a way that will bring him the most benefit, of course.

Name: Solvereign von Atreid (sol-vaer-ayn von Ay-tree-id)
-Nickname: Sol (pronounced like in "solving", not like the sun, ie short 'o')

Age: 21
-Birthday: December 2nd, 1,000,038 AZ

Race: Human
Advantages:
-Well Rounded (Can do just about anything)
-Adaptable (Adapt easy to new surroundings)
-Quick Learner (Picks up new ideas faster)

Disadvantages:
-Weak Magic (Their magic is not up to par with other races)
-Easy to Possess (Make perfect vassals for spirits)
-Arrogant (Most races assume humans to be arrogant colonialists)

Sex: Male

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Occupation: Sits on his money (or rather, converts it into wine, hot dames, and the like)

Job Class: Job? Pfft! More wine, footmen!

Appearance: Solvereign is a ridiculously good-looking young man (one is tempted to say 'boy') with reddish-brown, curly hair, blue eyes, and a fair complexion

Likes, Dislikes, Fears Hobbies, and Aspirations:
-Likes: The social ladder (since it favors him), frivolity, wine, gossip
-Dislikes: Studying, administration, serious relationships, work, philosophy, plebeians
-Fears: Growing old, being disgraced, losing his fortune
-Hobbies: horseback riding, showy but bad fencing, hunting, polo, flirting with the ladies, falconry
-Aspirations: Reign at the top of the Serdian social ladder, not do any work, be famous (these two may be incompatible), accumulate more wealth, slowly accomplish the task of having at least one cask of every type of wine in the world

Personality: Where to begin? Solvereign von Atreid is practically a stereotype- the nobleman who has everything but earned nothing. He has the money, the looks, the connections, the girls, and most importantly the birth to make it on the big stage. However, due to a tragically chronic state of lethargy, he's lacking in any ambition that requires him to put forward personal effort.

That's not to say that Sol doesn't have ambitions. He might not be widely credited for it, but when alone and reflective (which, admittedly, is rare) Sol thinks quite a bit about the future. A future in which he may still have the money and birth, but most certainly won't have the looks, probably won't have the connections, and thus is likely to lose the girls as well.

Solvereign von Atreid is bolstering himself against that possibility. Not in the principled, step-by-step way in which a logical person would go about it; but rather, in a vague and haphazard manner, when the mood comes to him.

Still, with House Atreid's very considerable resources, Sol's bursts of inefficient enthusiasm accomplish far more than the constant strivings of one of lesser caste...

History: House Atreid is an ancient noble lineage of Serdio, controlling a large fiefdom south of Esto Gaza. The Atreids are extremely wealthy. In addition to their large fief, which has significant mining and fishing industries, they have vast plantations in the Sudland worked by hundreds of Shii slaves, an opulent manor house in Augusta, and even a resort residence in Ivendell on Bali.

Solvereign himself has been provided with the very best money can buy from literally inside the womb, and has, through House Atreid's connections, come into the presence of the Dauphin of House Rlugia on many occasions. A completely spoiled brat in early toddlerhood, Sol has... changed little. Though he now has developed a talent for political intrigue along with the polo, hunting, falconry, flirting, etc., his parents are still disappointed in their son's apparent distaste for the workings of the fief and of Serdio.
