The Clayr is the sisterhood devoted to the goddesses Cytheria and Odelia. The two goddesses that spawned the house of Mecca. The Clayr is one of the only orders that has enough power to stand up to Mortikan.

They use their power to protect Hayholt, and to protect a number of villages and castles all throughout the realm. The Clayr have a powerful magic called the Charter, which has been given to them by the goddesses Cytheria and Odelia, under the approval of Sifler. As nearly all running water originates in the wintery glacier realms of the Clayr, all water is enchanted with charter magic.

This means that the dead, the zombies, denizens and weak Undead wizards that roam about southern Edenmay not cross running water. This is the most powerful and effective weapon of the Clayr.

The Clayr do not, as is a common misconception, live in the glacier. In actuality, they live in a series of vast tunneled complexes within the mountains that support the vast glacier fields.

The Clayr is a matriarchal society. The sisters of the Clayr are encouraged to take as many lovers from the outside world as they like. But only girl children are taken to train in the sisterhood of the Clayr.

The Clayr not only have the charter, they also have the ability to see into the far reaches of the future. Or, more precisely, the possible futures. They are able to see the strands that the goddess Faten uses to weave together fate.

Fronting the glaciers are vast deltas, with swift moving water. There are also a number of charter stones, rocks that have enough charter enchantment to deter the dead.

There are a number of free castles and villages that are located here.

From the glaciers, huge sheets of ice, and ice deltas descend. The land above Hayholt is dominated by huge ice sheets, and ice rivers. This winterland guards the Eden realm from the darkness of Estonrell and Mortikan. For it traps his denzines and wizards within the sphere of the Clayr.

The Paper wings did not look all that much like planes. Indeed they looked more like canoes, with great eagle wings, a propellor and tail. Only one Paper wing approached the glacier. It was blue and silver, the royal colors of Ivendell.

The Paper wing shined with the golden marks of the charter, that swam along the paper mache of it like oil in water. The Paper wing began its downward flight. It slowed as it reached the terrace where the Clayr envoy waited. It glided onto the terrace, bumping only a few times.

From the cockpit of the paper wing, two figures jumped out. One of them wore a very smart pilots outfit. This included a leather helmut, green goggles, a green scarf, a leather jacket and pants, and black knee boots. The other wore a leather helmut as well, but was swathed in all sorts of furs. Both woman took off their helmets to revel that they were in fact Gen and Irulan. Gen in her pilots outfit, and Irulan in furs to stay warm.

Gen whistled something. It had a strange sound, and left one with an metallic taste in ones mouth. It was thick with the charter. Before she had whistled it, the Paper wing had wiggled and fidgeted, filled with the life of the charter. After her whistle, the marks had vanished and it became once again only an inanimate object.

“We have seen your coming” One of the Clayr sisters said. “We have seen the swarm of insects that now infest Zelpha” Another sister said. “And we know that you have come to seek counsel.” “Yes.” Irulan said. “But we are tired.” Gen said: “We have not slept since the insects have come to Zelpha.” “Understandable. We can see you worry for your people. But worry not. Ivendell, and all the other cities and villages of Mortikan are safe. In this one instance, it is good to have Mortikan rule our realm. Now, come. We shall take you to some rooms where you may rest in safety.

Gen, Irulan and a number of Clayr sisters met in the great hall of Ice. It was hollowed deep inside the mountain. However, an enchanted sheet of ice provided a window to the delta below.

They all sat around a white tape, that shown with the charter marks. It was heated. All the chambers of the Clayr were heated with the charter.

“We have seen your plight” one sister intoned. “And we have seen the plight of Zelpha” Gen nodded. “We have seen many possible futures. We see the renaissance of Meria, and the permanent destruction of Mortikan. We have seen the destruction of Ivendell and the Clayr itself, and the permanent rise of Mortikan...” there seemed to be something else. “We have also-and this is the thickest and strongest thread of fate we have observed in a long time- seen the destruction of both Meria and Mortikan. A destruction of your family. A destruction of the Clayr. A destruction of Ivendell, Hayholt, Cytheria, Odelia. A destruction of everything north-like. A destruction of you.” Gen shivered.

“We thus have advice. Actively oppose Mortikan. It is easy to stay in Ivendell and feel safe. To partake in the political activities of the world. But, it is difficult to oppose Mortikan, and retake your kingdom!”

*****

Hours later, Gen and Irulan were back in the paper wing. Irulan covered ini furs, Gen in her pilots outfit. Gen whistled something, filled with charter magic. The Paper wing came alive again, fidgeting and twitching. A team of Clayr novices began to push the craft, and began to run. Right before they reached the edge of the terrace and pulled back. The Paper wing did not. Instead, it soared into the air.
