The car pulled up to the Keep. There were guards present. They made short salutes to the Emperor and his friends. The merry group mounted the high steps to the cavernous porch that fronted the hall. They entered the even larger hall. It was empty of guards and servants which made it seem larger. They group ascended the various sub hall landings up to the main floor of the hall. The light fell in shafts. The Dowager Emperor was garbed in black. He tactfully stood instead of seating himself on the throne. He stood at the top of the mountain of stairs up the daises to the actual stone throne. “Step no further” his voice was cold and at his command none of the group could move forward. “Ysaar, it is a pleasure to see you again. I was unaware you were still living” |

"I am unaware you ever knew of me in the first place," Ysaar replied, allowing a tiny quaver of fear into his voice. "I am Ysaar, yes, but not Ysaar Dai Dame--he is my hero. And the reason why is simple: he stood up to those who thought like you." The defiance in his voice was powerful. "My name is Ysaar Zian, and if I shall be called upon to be martyred, I will be proud to stand alongside my namesake in death!" |

Tigris looked at him blankly. “I have so met you. You slept with my daughter-” Cosette turned bright red at this remark. Tigris continued” - And if you think I am evil enough to kill my own descendent and the son of my best general than you are a fool.” He nodded his head in the direction of Wilks. The man mumbled a response. “I haven't the slightest idea why you were headed to Serdio” he said in such a light hearted manner that all knew he was lying. “But I have called you back to invite you to a ball, tonight in fact” his voice turned syrupy sweet. “A ball which you all will attend”. |

With his empathic sense, Ysaar probed at Tigris' emotions, hoping that even in his century's madness his skill had improved. Meanwhile he tried to provoke Tigris as much as possible. "I do not have time nor the desire to participate in niceties. If you wished to invite us to a ball, then you needn't have wasted your time with a personal meeting. The only justification I can imagine you having for this is for some sort of twisted satisfaction. I shall now take my leave. Goodbye." With that he turned around and began to walk out. OOC: If Ysaar does sense something out of the ordinary, please inform me of it. |

“Oh, you shan't leave the castle” Tigris said and the doors slammed shut with a wave of the Emperors hand. “Do you not wish to see what the ball will look like? I can cast an illusion for you if you wish” With another wave of his hand the entire room filled with phantoms and music began to play. Superimposed on all the peoples bodies were ball finery. Cosette yelped when she found Tigris’s intense look upon her. “Would you like to see a new dance, its very popular in the provinces. “Come Cosette... we shall show them” Tigris took Cosette and they began to dance. Leto looked on in horror. Something passed between them though it was difficult to say what it was. Cosette was released and the illusions dropped like water. Cosette stood shocked. Her eyes were empty and she stood still. “What have you done to her bastard?” Leto asked clutching Cosette. “Nothing..” Tigris smiled. “Tell them Cosette.” “I’m fine” She said, shaking her head. She smiled and said in a much steadier voice. “Your quite a dancer Milord” “Indeed” Tigris said. The doors open. “Now you are free to go”. Leto quickly escorted Cosette from the hall. “Good day Ysaar” Tigris said before vanishing, leaving the hall empty. |

For a short second, Ysaar stood there puzzled--somewhere between being hopelessly lost and understanding. Then a memory in his brain clicked, and he acted immediatly. Casting a Teach spell variation, he sent Leto the following vision: In front of a white background, Ysaar was speaking as if to a crowd. Then he turned to Leto and said: "What Tigris is doing is a highly illegal form of magic that involves controlling people, I believe with needles. It's name has escaped me since my training in Oraclry, but it is certainly powerful. Remember that Tigris is now controlling the body of Cosette, and the best way I can help you liberate your beloved is to fall under the power of Tigris and convince him that I am not, in fact, Ysaar Dai Dame. Act as you normally would, but heed this warning in the future. As he sent this message secretly, he did something that he would never do: he charged the nearest guard. |

The guard was taken aback. Tigris watched mildly as the guard tried to defend himself. ((Im not quite sure what your trying to do here. Forgive me for my short post ^_^)) |

Slipping under the guard's sword, Ysaar quickly rendered the man unconscious. He turned to the next and shouted, "Whatever you have planned for me, Tigris, I won't be around for it. If my purpose is martyrdom, I shall be martyred!" Inwardly, he smiled, realizing just how differently this character he had invented for himself was acting than he would. As he prepared for the next blow, he began to invent his characters mindscheme inside his own mind. He was going to need the disguise against Tigris. OOC: Got it yet? Ysaar is trying to convince Tigris he is not the famous one, just a follower of sorts. By acting differently than Ysaar himself would. |

Tigris sighed irritably. He suppose he had mistaken this Ysaar look alike..... that made him feel uneasy. “Get out” He said and lifted, with a wave of his hand, Ysaar above the ground and propelled him, in the air, through the hall doors and set him down outside. Leto made to follow but suddenly the doors of the hall shut, leaving Ysaar alone outside. |

"Crap," muttered Ysaar to himself. He sent an empathic tendril out to find Leto and watch the upcoming events through his eyes while being able to direct him if necessary. |

“The ball will commence as planned. It will celebrate the decision of the vulcan chiefs to vote you Emperor. ” This was to Leto. The young ruler’s eyes narrowed. Even if he was Emperor of Vulcan and Eden, it was the Dowager Emperor who would get the power, not he. “You will all show up. It will be a splendid occasion. Is that clear?” Tigris said, his voice cold. “Yes” Leto said. “Yes Milord” the others said. “Good. At the moment I must attend to the details. Cosette will come with me. “ Cosette smiled and nodded. Her countenance was that of a dreamer. “Good day to you sirs” Tigris said and the pair walked to the discreet door behind the throne and ascended into the Keep. Leto and Citizen Wilks walked down the various levels of the hall and exited o find Ysaar. |

It was a testament that Ysaar did not wear even a hint of smile. He radiated anger clearly aimed at Tigris. "It would seem our mutual enemy is far more powerful than I had guessed. Not only that, but he has acted in the most despicable and cowardly manner using Cosette like he is. We must challenge him publicly at the Comittee of the World, but such a deed cannot be done until your beloved is liberated. Let it be known that I would never ask you to make that sacrifice. "As tempting as it is, violence will not accomplish anything but get us massacred. I cannot guess how we might accomplish our goals...except..." He paused in thought. "Are the old communities in northern Meria still around? Did they survive the destruction of Meria?" |

Leto sighed. “Meria is far worse than Zeal. Im afraid that nothing lives in Meria. It is a great boggish wasteland with radiation that would kill you instantly... there lives no one there. As you have been mad you are probably not aware of the circumstances of the last hundred years. I shall inform you. “Following the destruction of Meria, the wealthy Shox* fled and with my ancestor the Lady Gen established the city-state of Mantua. Galastar, which had served as the capital of the world of a long time linked with Mantua though their political affiliation remained fuzzy. “It was Gen Mecca’s assassination that sparked the following happenings. She had in her mind the entire Undead population. Their spirits had been rejected by the underworld and used her mind as a sanctum. With her death they poured out like water from a dam, including the Dark Lord Mortikan. Tigris too was let free and he collected all the souls... except for his nemesis. “The Dark Lord went north to Meria, and established his Dark Kingdom that ruled their before Meria. He allied with the Holy Lands and they made war on the rest of the world. Drake.. falling into some sort of century long sleep, was replaced by the House of Velon, who bared no friendly relations to the Mecca's. “Fearing Serdian invasion the Shox* and Mantua left Galastar in the midst of a Civil War, and established themselves here, renaming the city Agusta. Agusta ruled a small kingdom, Tuskani for twenty or so years. It was then when the Axis power of Mortikan and the Holy Lands occupied Vulcan. “It was then when the rest of the Eden States voted to join Tuskani and the Eden Empire was born. The axis and the other countries battled for nigh a hundred years. Yet just recently did Tigris go to the north and somehow defeated the lord Mortikan. “Drake awoke and retook Serdio and it is now that peace has finally been established. You must understand, Tigris was good and kind before he went into the north. Only since coming back has this.... distasteful malevolence awoken. I fear that perhaps Tigris is no longer himself.... it has just been recently since his return that the new order has been formed” Leto said this all with sadness for the past century had been one wracked with violence. He knew that this was probably all new to Ysaar, since he had been insane and off wondering. “Once Mortikan was defeated, his magic that had revived his dark empire fell away, leaving the land in an even worse state than after the Silver Wizards had torn it asunder. Nothing lives there.” *Sho is the race that lives in eden, the plural form is Shox, pronounced the same. |

Ysaar's anger magnified itself. "It is pathetic that I did not know this. Still, what's done is done, although I had hoped that Nu'Daio might have been spared the destruction that plagued Meria,, as it was so far north. I see I was mistaken. Very well, that makes our only option a confrontation of wills with Tigris. If we attend the ball, it is quite possible I can wrest Cosette from his magical control, but we would need to make an immediate escape to the Jamina Republic. Are you prepared to leave Eden behind--possibly for a lifetime?" |

“If it would mean freeing Cosette yes.” Wilks who had remained silent so far spoke up. “I too would go with you, even so far as to defy my father” “Why though must we go?” Leto inquired. |

"Because we can do the most harm to Tigris at the Committee of the World in the Locus. Equally importantly, he see us as a threat if we manage to succeed in rescuing Cosette, and it would not be wise to be seen as a threat while trapped in his Empire. And he has maintained cordial relationships with other nations, so we can not flee to another power for fear of being handed right back. If you see another option, I would love to hear it, but I do not." His anger had mutated into a sort of sadness. "What do you think?" |

“As I have said, I have no objection to fleeing to Jamina. But we must hasten. I fear that he may already know our plans, for he knew of our plan to leave Serdio just within the last half an hour when we were in the Cafe Corinth and at the moment we are discussing his downfall on his doorstep.” ((OOC:I would like to talk to you about something)) |

"We must leave that up to chance now, for I have erred and we can do nothing but see if it will trouble us. For the time being, I shall make the travel arrangements, and I suggest you prepare yourself for the ball. As Emperor, you ought to look magnificent while I must merely go unseen. I shall take my leave." Without another word, Ysaar sped of, and wished for the time when his yaught would be waiting for this. ((I am on AIM, if you wish to talk)) |

The motor cars and carriages lined up in front of Ivendell Keep. A swarm of bourgeois government officials, nobles, military officers, etc. stepped out in all their finery. Woman in velvet coats lined in fur and gentlemen in slick black suits chatted with one another, and made their way into the Keep. The hall was splendid, the great diamond chandeliers that hung from the cavernous ceilings were lighted throwing an ethereal light onto the whole scene. People chuckled and danced. A light waltz was playing. Damask and silk skirts swished on cool marble. The throne was empty. Leto stood with Citizen Wilks, both wearing military uniforms. Leto wore a white one, with a red sash across the tunic. At his side a decretive sword hung. He wore gloves and was drinking some sort of alcoholic beverage. Wilks wore similar attire and was also drinking something. They were both waiting for the arrival of Ysaar. |
