Ivendell Theme
Ivendell Keep is the oldest, and most spectacular building in the World. Its still considered the Imperial Residences of the Emperor, but is used only during very important occasions. Its actually the home of the Summer Queen, a symbolic goddess who’s last year in life is dedicated to her every whim, before she is drowned. The Summer Queen is picked during the Night of Revelries, in a competition. Poor, rich alike all woman attempt to become the Summer Queen, even though they know that the next year come the Night of Revelries they will drown.

Usually the Summer Queen is on good terms with the Emperor and the two are friends. A number of Imperial’s have been know to try and save their Queenly friends, some Emperor’s even try and marry the Summer Queen.

Although ancient, Ivendell Keep is as full of business now as it was ninety nine thousand years ago. In addition, its use as an Imperial Temple, used to crown all the Imperial Rulers, used for all the Imperial Weddings, and Deaths, and for the final death of the Summer Queen. Ivendell Keep is also the main HQ for the trade administration, and the Minister of Diplomacy has offices here, as well as his Trade Administers.

Ivendell Keep is one of the most gorgeous buildings in all of Augusta. Originally, the city of Ivendell (formerly Mantua formerly Ivendell) was a large metropolis in the ancient Kenjikan Empire (although it bore a different name). Ivendell Keep was the Palace of the Mayor. Then during the decline of the might realm of Kenjiko, it was the centerpiece for Neobaliople, the colony that Mortikan seeded in the ruins of the ancient Kenjikan city. Finally, renamed as Ivendell, the Keep took that name, and served as the Royal palace there.

The Keep is six stories high, surrounded by a great park in the very center of the commercial district of Agusta. From the square keep, a slender southern wing spreads out, . The keep is a perfect square, and the wing that spurts off of it is a perfect rectangle. This geometric symmetry gives the keep an impressive look of grander.

The Central hall of Ivendell Keep is the most remarkable room in the entire castle. The Great hall is where five Mecca Emperor’s have all been crowned supreme power in Mortikan, Meria and Mantua. It was designed in such a way as to Impress an audience. One enters from the great hall to find a huge vaulted ceiling, going up three full stories. The hall is divided between short flights of stairs, and large landings. The highest landing is where the throne is. Throne of the Kenjikan Feudal Lord who once ruled the city that sprouted Ivendell. Its a massive throne, the seat worn smooth with the seating of many royal bottoms. The room is designed such, that one can be in the back of the Great Hall, and still sea the ocean through the huge glass windows of the porch.

To the right of the throne, a great golden lattice door provides access to an even greater marble corridor, that of the southern hall. Along this corridor to the east, are other huge doors that open to great public rooms, the Imperial Liberary, Drawing Room, Dining Room and conservatory. To the west huge windows look out onto the bustling city, and the surrounding park. At the end of this corridor, another impressive stairway ascends to a large lobby. Directly west are the gold plated doors to a large lift, which ascends to the botanical gardens atop the lobby. To the north, a short flight of stairs ascends to the fifth story where the chambers of the Empress are. To the west are doors that lead to the administration offices.

Crowning the main hall is a great dome with a huge abstract art deco statue. Along the southern wing, a peeked roof sits. Both are copper, but rusted green. Above the southern lobby, rivaling the dome is a large glass dome. In this is the lavish botanical garden. Exotic plants, including a live Silver Wood tree all sit in this crystal dome.

Ivendell Keep was quite. The Colonel Baron sensed it the minute he stepped inside the vast ancient hall. His shoes made a huge racket on the polished marble floor. Click clack click clack. He needed no one to navigate him to the quarters of the Emperor for he had been there many many times. Although Obelia was the official residence of the Emperor, Ivendell was the abode more preferred.

The Colonel Baron ascended the stairs up up up. He came to the farthest landing in the hall, and through the little door next to the great throne. Up up up again. Up through the offices up through the various levels of the Imperial Tower and into the Imperial suit. Although he had been expecting it he was shocked to see the Dowager Emperor alive, and in seemingly good humor.

Tigris had aged not at all over the course of the hundred years. Yet he did possess a sort of aged wisdom. His face remained unlined and his hair jet black. He cut it short in military fashion. Two white streaks on either side of his head however betrayed his age. He sat in a chair while servants busied over him. He was shirtless and his healthy young body was bandaged. “Sir” He said. “Sah” The Baron said. “I do believe your visit to you uncle was a success then sah?” The baron inquired. “Yes” Tigris responded. “A great successes”

*****
He had gone north some months ago and transferred the power of Regent to the colonel baron. His trip had taken a bit longer than usual for he had had to go north by way of boat, far outside of Serdian water. Upon his arrival he was promptly arrested and taken to Estonrell.

He remembered very little after that. He was not sure why, perhaps some sort of poison. He recalled with little emotion killing his uncle and fleeing back here yet the month or so he spent in the north was barely registered in his mind.

It disturbed him to think of it and decided not to. “Baron, a full account of what has happened in my absence” Tigris said and the Baron complied.

Leto stood on one of the steps on the daises of the throne. "Damn him" He said. He had planned to spend christmas eve at a provincial ball with Cosette. Yet his damn ancestor had required him to attend the christmas peace ball. The hall was crowded with the aristocrats that occupied the coastal cities.

They mingled mildly awkwardly with the vivacious bourgeoisie who occupied Agusta and the delta plantations. Colorful evening frocks of the latter mixed with the more modest ball gowns of the former.

Leto wore a military uniform. It consisted of a light yellow tunic with golden braids. The belt was red, and a bright red sash crossed his priest. His pants were black. He wore white gloves.

He couldn't see his ancestor across the vast multilevel hall but he knew what he wore too. He wore a black tunic with gold braid and black pants. He had a matching red sash and white gloves.

With him was the future Empress, that Serdian girl. The fine materials that had been put in her Serdian gowns were dissected to make new gowns. She wore a frock that was actually mildly attractive. It was made of a stiff violet silk.

It had thick straps and a square bodice. From her midwest to mid breast was a thick velvet purple sash. The sleeves where light violet gauze that went to the elbow and had a large slit in the front.

From the sash descending to about six inches from the hem a matching gauze over skirt was draped.

The girls auburn hair was pulled up in a purple snood. It was a shame that the unique baroque gowns that had come with her had to be cut up but he much more admired Eden's fashions that of Serdio.

Although the Imperial court had turned on their future ruler, Tigris had taken her under his wing. They made fun of her because all her dresses were made from the ruins of her baroque wardrobe and teased her that she cried over the ruins. They laughed at her accent and her plainness.

She ran to Tigris like a father. And her protected her like one. Leto however had been known to make the worst jokes about her. He just wished he could spend the celebration with Cosette.

Suddenly he saw her. His whole being filled with joy. He took her in. Her frock was blue. A thick blue sash was around her chest and served as the high waist. The straps were thick and the neckline was square.

The skirt was tighter than most gowns and had a very short train. She wore white gloves and a diamond choker. Around her bobbed hair she wore a blue band with a small peacock feather fixed to it with a small sapphire broach. Kohl was about her eyes and she looked very exotic.

"Cosette" Leto said, and strode through the hall. "Cosette!" he said. She smiled and smoothed her dress. "I got your package" "I saw it at ladies, Merry Christmas" He kissed her and she smiled.

"I saw the Serdian" She said. "She isn't much to look at is she?" "No" Leto admitted and smiled. "She isn't"

Cosette awoke and was for a moment disoriented. Then she remembered where she was. She had spent the night in one of the guest bedrooms in Ivendell Keep. She sat up and sighed. Light strewn in through the golden colored c ut glass windows. She looked out at the bay. engineers were working night and day to rebuild the bridges to Serdio that were destroyed in the siege.

Real peace was finally being achieved, of course there was still tension, and fighting. The Dowager Emperor was negotiating with a coalition of tribal chiefs and city states. The plan was for an Eden occupation, under the authority of the Tribes, until they could rebuild their land. Wild rumors continued to poor in from the north.

They said that Mortikan had, in one night, transformed from the arch demonic nation it had been, into a sort of radioactive waste land, where nothing grew. They sad all the armies of the dark lord had vanished, or died and decayed so rapidly that they said that zombies corpses lined the northern waste land.

A servant came in. “Madame” She said and curtsied. All Cosette’s jewelry was on the vanity across the room. Her dress was on the ground. She got out of bed and found herself in a nightgown. “Madame, his Majesty said you will wear this.” From a bureau she pulled a pink frock that was attractive.

It was a day dress, which meant it had a lower waist than an evening gown. The skirt was knee length, and had a sort of lace chiton thing over it. Everything was swept up at the side in a pearl broach. She found silk slippers for her feet, white gloves for her hand and a matching silk had for her head. She wore a long strand of white pearl beads.

She checked her appearance and then left her suit and entered a long winding hall. She walked down it and went looking for Leto. He was in the Imperial Suit, he had breakfast laid out and she joined him.

“Lord Tigris left for vulcan today” Leto said casually as he began to eat his fruit sorbet that was essential to the small fruit oriented eden breakfasts.
“Really?” Cosette inquired. “I would of thought that he would of demanded the chiefs to come here” “So did I, but I suppose he wants peace more than he cares about his pride, so off to Vulcan he goes.” “Who’s regent?” “He hasn't left one. He will still be giving orders from Vulcan so that I cant get into any trouble.” He seemed resigned to this although his face portrayed sadness. “I can fix that” Cosette said, a defiant enthusiasm creeping its way into her countenance. “Come with me” She stood and grabbed Leto by the arm, pulling him out into the hall and eventually out of the palace.

“My lord?” The voice interrupted the solitude of Tigris’s musings. He stood in the Imperial study. Ivendell Keep towered above all of the city and he could look out over it. “Yes?” “My Lord, news from the Holy Lands. They say that an army of a thousand celestials is headed to Serdio. They say that its being led by a Drake look alike of some sort. They say-” “To Serido?”

This could be dangerous. If the celestials took Serdio, and placed a puppet claiming to be Drake on the throne, it could disrupt the whole hopes for peace. “Stupid pansies” He spat under his breath. They pulled out of Vulcan deliberately so that I would put my forces there, they will strike north. That whore Feng has a heart blacker than I thought. First she parades about like my uncles pet, and now she had the nerve to make a move this preposterous when peace was almost on us, Tigris thought. “Shall I call the Colonel Baron back from Vulcan?” “No” Tigris said. “I fear the Velons are doomed. We shall not disrupt this invasion. We shall be neutral for the good of world peace.” “Yes My Lord” And with that the man left the empty study, and Tigris continued to gaze out at the city.

Tigris sat in his room brooding. A great number of flying celestials had passed overhead. It disturbed him greatly. “Damn, damn damn them all!” It was impossible for him to lend any military support to the Velon King, for his foreign legions were tied up in Vulcan. Not however, by any means was Eden unprotected. Since it was formed, Tigris had led an isolationist policy, to try and protect it from the war. Once formed he declared limited neutrality, but then retracted the order later in his regency.

He would see that bitch Feng and tell her what he thought of this whole thing, his first face to face confrontation with her in more than a century.

A envoy from the new Rlugian government in Serdio arrived at the palace, carrying a folder of documents; treaties and the usual to preserve peace.

"May I speak to the emperor?" The envoy asked the guards.

His Majesty,
Drake, By the Grace of God,

King of Serdio, the Sudland, Prince-Consort of Meria, Rei Henka of Odon, Grand Prince of Ivendell, Imperator of Eden, Protector of the Shiitan, President of the Lands of Sade

Ysaar was awash with emotions as he slowly walked up to the gate of Ivendell Keep. Most of them he didn't understand, but that was the usual state of affairs after nigh on 100 years of madness. His return to sanity had seemed to come with an overwhelming charge that made no sense to him, but was as important as anything could be: to visit the descendant of Gen Mecca and tell the story of what had happened 100 years ago.

As he deliberately strolled up to the gate, he was stopped by the guard, four sentries very well armed and ready to die for their masters.

"Hello Gentleman," he said, "my name is Ysaar Dai Dame, and I should like to visit with the Emperor whenever possible. Let it be known I am willing to wait."

The guards saw both men approach the palace. Turning to the envoy the man said “You shall se the Dowager Emperor Tigris Mecca II” And led the man up into the palace. The other guard smiled. “The Emperor is in the drawing room of his suit, you shall go there” And led Ysaar though the ancient castle that made old Ivendell Palace seem cramped and plain.

*****

Tigris was on one of the many balconies drinking some sort of beverage. “My Lord” The guard bowed and left. “So you are the Serdian that poser has sent to win me over?” Tigris asked cooly.

****

Through the hive like passageways of the palace Ysaar was led, impressive door after impressive door passed as they walked along the corridor that seemed as if it would go on forever. “Sir” The Guard said and opened the door. Inside Leto sat at an easel painting a very pretty girl in a light blue chiton. “Majesty, a visitor” Leto looked up. “Hello” He said slightly surprised. “Who are you?”

Smiling warmly, Ysaar introduced himself. "My name is Ysaar Dai Dame, My Lord. I do not know if you have heard of me, or if the story is even still told--just recently I emerged from a century of madness with what seemed a spiritual charge to find and talk to you." He shook his head at the ridiculousness of his story, but just continued smiling.

"Yes your lord. I am an envoy from the great and ancient kingdom of Serdio. I am not here to make you believe our king is truely who he says he is - there is still some doubt in the palace. Yet we his people will follow him - because he is our shepard, and we are his sheep. He appeared in a time of need for us. The Velon was plotting to sneak attack Imperial Eden, to ignite another war. He was paranoid, thinking you would do the same. Tell me sir, would you rather have a poser, or a maniac, in control of Serdio? As for Celestial fears, you need not worry: The Celestial soldiers left after our king took Esto Gaza." The envoy bowed once more, then removed a few papers.

"These are the standards your lord. A peace treaty..to ensure the a needed peace. It is up to you if you wish to sign it or not sir, and I remind you I am not here to make you believe our king is who he says."

“The name sounds familiar though I cant recall” The girl leaned forward and in a loud stage whisper said: “He was a friend of the Empress Gen Mecca I, but vanished shortly after the formation of Mantua and destruction of Meria” She looked up and remembered how rude it was to talk of people as if they weren't there. “My friend Cosette” he said gesturing to the pretty girl warmly.

****

Tigris seemed unfazed as if he had heard nothing. “I fear the celestials, and I am surprised you don't ” For the past century the celestials had been a race associated with Mortikan, warmongering and all sorts of unpleasant things.

“I shall sign your treaty though I still do not believe, and perhaps will never believe. We shall see how this “Drake” Does as king before any judgments shall be passed. Bring me the papers.”

"Cosette, a pleasure," he said, bowing his head respectfully. "A pleasure it most certainly is to hear that my name is known by anyone one hundred years later. I suppose that is just my vanity speaking, though. But, Cosetter, were you aware of the fact, that before Gen and I were comrades in the same cause, we were bitter enemies? I shall tell you the story if you wish, but I have had enough experience with the pressing matters of government to even request that you hear me out." He paused. "It is amusing that I am content to say so little after so long."

"There are mixed emotions about the Celestials sir. Yes, they did indeed warmonger, and indeed they did horrible things. But..our king had chosen Celestial men. Here are the papers." The envoy replied, handing him the many papers. He then gave a quick "Oh!" looking at Tigris.

"Sir, our king wishes to know..if..Ms. Gen Mecca is alright. He said he would've found out on his own, but it seemed Mantua was gone from Galastar when he arrived."

Tigris didn't flinch. “Her Imperial Majesty Gen Mecca I died a hundred years ago. You should know that, and I would think he would be able to ask anyone” He was afraid that with that question the envoy had convinced him-though he didn't mean too-of Drake’s realness. He knew that if Drake was simply a poser that question wouldn't of been asked.

“Sir about this treaty, I am at the moment Protector of Vulcan. I want no Serdian colonies set up there, is that all right?”

*****

Cosette smiled, a sad smile. “Why then sir, have you come? I would be pleased to listen to all stories. I greatly admire my ancestor” Leto had a kind disposition and smiled, gesturing to a chair.

The Emperor turned the easel so that the man could see. Upon the paper was a lovely, breathtaking picture of the girl that enhanced her beauty without exaggerating it. “What do you think, is it a good likeness?”

“I would not disagree sir” The Emperor said. “We were going to go out into the city this afternoon. You are welcome to join us, are you aware of the existence of the Friends of the New Order? We were going to go to the Cafe Corinth to one of their meetings”/

Leto had taken a gamble reveling where they were going. The friends of the New Order, like their name suggested, was a radical political club. Yet Leto guessed that that would but perfectly all right with Ysaar.

“Thats it” Tigris said. “You may go”

OOC: Unless Leto was concealing his knowledge of Ysaar's past, he wouldn't have even realized he was a former revolutionary. Petty detail, though.

IC: "The Friends of the New Order?" Ysaar asked, almost laughing--happiness encouraged by the fact his empathic sense revealed how much the Emperor apparently trusted him. "That sounds all too much like something I would have come up with during Meria's prosperity. I would certainly like to come. Love to, more like. It seems odd, though, that the ruler of the world's money capital would attend revolutionary movement meetings. Assuming, of course, that's what this is." Obviously it was, or Ysaar would not have said as much as he did.

OOC: Oh... yea.. oops ^_^

IC: Leto turned his head and Cosette blushed. “We are as much in chains as anyone else though our chains are more subtle.” Cosette cast a glance at the ground. “The Dowager Emperor’s regency has lasted for a hundred and twenty years and is more absolute than any other despots”

Cosette put her finger to her lips. Leto nodded. “We better go...” He rose and Cosette joined him. They linked arms and left the suit, leading Ysaar out of the palace...

((OOC: Uh, you can make the New Order if you want.))
