Unit 1 - All About Aquanauts

Interested in being an Aquanaut? Well, here are some facts you should know.

Adjective: Aquanician

Age Range:
1-25 - They age like humans.
26-99 - They normally look to be in their early 20's.
100-499 - They start to look like 25-29 by 99.
500-999 - They start to look around young 30's.
1,000-1,999 - They start to look late 30's.
2,000-2,499 - They start to look in their 40's.
2,500-2,999 - They start to look in their 50's.
3,000-3,499 - They start to look in their 60's.
3,500-4,000 - Nowadays, most don't live beyond 4,000 years.

Appearance:
Body Type
- Common: Slim/Athletic
- Not as Common: Average
- Rare: Obese
-- Explanation: Considering Aquanauts are naturally aquatic folk that love to swim, most tend to be in good shape.
Height (by age 25)
- Common: 7” to 8”
- Not as Common: 6” range
- Rare: 5” and below
-- Explanation: Aquanauts are just naturally tall, though there seems to be more short Aquanauts each year.
Weight
- Common: 150 lbs to 300 lbs
- Not as Common: 125 to 150 lbs
- Rare: 100 lbs and below, 350 lbs and above
-- Explanation: Aquanauts are somewhat lightweight, and their height also effects their weight.
Skin
- Common: Ice Blue/White, Thick Skin Layer
- Not as Common: Pale Teal, Average Skin Layer
- Rare: Dark Blue and Blue Green, Thin Skin Layer
- Very Rare: Gray with Layer Variation
-- Explanation: As parts of the ocean can be rather cold, Aquanauts have adapted over the years to have a thicker skin layer than most other races. However, as a consequence, they can't stand the heat too well unless they are near water. A beach is okay, but a desert is not. The layer of skin does add more weight, but the difference is not that noticeable.
Hair Length & Hair Color
- Common: Shades of blue and/or green (mixed or not). Mid back.
- Not as Common: Shades of violet (mixed or not). Long, short, or bald.
- Rare: Shades of gray and/or white (mixed or not). Stylized so that length greatly varies from one side to the other (as in, one side is short while the other is long).
- Very Rare: Shades of silver, blond, or a mixture of all of the colors.
-- Explanation: Blue, green, and violet are the more dominant genes. As for hair length, having it reach the mid back was traditional for normal citizens back in the old days. For warriors, they had to shave their heads or cut it short, though that was longer a requirement when Poseidon Empires became a little more “modern.” Long hair only became more common when Aquanauts were able to live without water.

Eyes
- Common: Shades of blue, green, or violet. Small.
- Rare: Shades of gray. Big.
- Very Rare: Silver, white, yellow, and pink.
-- Explanation: Blue, green, and violet are the more dominant genes.
-- Note: The eyes of Aquanauts have an extra clear layer over their eyes so they can see underwater.

Engravings/Markings - Long ago, every Aquanaut had these and they were used to determine which family you were in since family names didn't exist then. Nowadays, not as many Aquanauts have them and the few that do may have very little.
Ears & Noses - Aquanauts normally have small noses and small ears that were almost flat. They worked a little different than the ears and noses of humans, but since now that they are also living on land, their noses and ears have grown bigger and have altered in shape a bit.

Half-Aquanauts – Half-Aquanauts can inherit almost any trait from their Aquanaut parent, but their traits may not be as strong as a pure-blooded Aquanaut. They may not be able to live as long or if they could, perhaps they don’t have the ability to swim underwater in a natural state.

For Aquanauts, the first month is when the season changes to Spring (vernal or spring equinox) and that is when the New Year is celebrated. Originally, the Aquanauts only had four long months but it has somewhat been altered into twelves months. The days for each month match the Human calendar as it was due to the Humans that the four months were changed twelve.

Unit 4 - Culture & Traditions

Clothing

Religion
The Aquanauts also have their own gods and goddess of worship that are personally of higher importance to them than the four creators. All them originated before the Aquanician New Age (SY) and don't have family names (family shown through engravings on the right arm). Excluding Gydan Moa (Great Evil), all the gods and goddess have chosen names of Human origin, though few are sure why.*

Poseidon is the God of the Seas (Enua Vamahu) and the true Imperial Lord of Poseidon Empires (Vogan Vysu Poseidon); a partronage of Water, Music, Courtship, Freedom, Sea Creatures, Wine, and . . . An Aquanaut born during the Old Age for Aquanauts, and one of the Saviors to have fought against who was known as Gydan Moa and won. In doing so, he managed to disrupt Gydan Moa's plan of becoming a god by absorbing part of the power into himself. The battle has brought him his death and the death of Gydan Moa. After the battle, the other saviors deemed his Imperial Lord of Aquanauts. However, with his new powers, Poseidon told them of his new name was to be Poseidon that cause them to name the seas Poseidon Empires. His mortal name was Vehusu and to this day, he has kept to watching over his domain from his hidden room within his temple. It is by tradition that he keeps close contact with the ruler of Poseidon Empires, however, lately he hasn't been following it.

Demitrius is the God of the Land (Dea Vamahu or Dea Enuadea Vamaha); a patronage Nature, Art, Marriage, Law, Land Creatures, Dairy, and . . . Unlike the other three gods and goddess, he was not involved in the battle at the end of the Aquanician Age of Darkness. Instead, he had stumbled upon the very same book Gydan Moa had used to obtain power and found a way to achieve his dream: giving Aquanauts the ability to breathe . . . However, he had to give up his life in exchange but became a God with the help of his brother, Poseidon. Huvahe, Demitrius's mortal name, also chose another name for himself and the area that he was to protect. That area later became the land sector of Poseidon Empires that is known today. However, when Demitrius claimed it, it was a free of people and full of plant life and animals. He was able to gain more power over it after he had bonded with it, literally. His wife is a spirit of life or nature of unknown history that goes by the name of Zolu. Few have ever seen hair, but those who have assume she was of human origin. Other discussions about her have gone around, and it is believe the book that cause them, the Aquanauts, so much trouble had something to do with her. The book has long been destroyed though.

Maura is the Goddess of the Core or Trenches (Dedea Vamahu); a patronage of Sediment and rocks, Literature, Lust, Corruption, Sea Monsters, Poison, and . . . Like the other two mentioned above, she was also an Aquanaut and her mortal name was Nive Ura. Just like the other two, she has no family name as she was also born during the Aquanician Old Age. During her mortal life, she was once a more pleasant person than she is today. However, the power of Gydan Moa corrupted her and she was somehow taken under his wing. He had promised her many things, and she stuck by him until the end. The result was that she also absorb some of the power and became a Goddess herself. Before, she would wreak havoc on the sunken cities with her horrid creatures that are very similar to the first and more primitive Aquanauts except these had poisonous claws and fangs. Doing so would get the residences of the cities scared so they would give her whatever she wanted. Lately, such rampant attacks have not happened due with a pact formed with Poseidon. Also, she has began to have a different view on the world. Though still filled with much lust and desire, she has decided to be more on the lawful evil side. She no longer harbors the same admiration for Gydan Moa all those years before, though she does respect him somewhat, just not enough to lend him the aid he wants.

Gydan Moa is the God of the Void (Vu Vamahu) and the former Imperial Lord of Poseidon Empires (Moa Vogan Vysu); a patronage of Emptiness, Melee, Greed, Ambition, Sacrifice, and . . . His very origin is completely unknown by anyone except himself. He had just one day appeared in the evolving Aquanauts' lives and turned them into his slaves. For many years, he was living the life with power, wealth, and strength. Every thing went wrong for him when his former slaves decided to rebel, and at just the time when he was finally going to achieve his greatest desire. However, all was not in vain for him, he did managed to absorb some power enough to make him a God, just not the greatest God. His first plan was to control one race before spreading into others, but now all he wants is his revenge. Unfortunately for him, three other gods prevent him from doing so. Currently, not many are aware of his existence and some may even want him to come back. He mostly just wanders the ocean's void, thinking of a plan.

*(More information can be found here, in Gods of Poseidon Empires).

Fesitvals/Holidays
The Aquanauts have their own fifteen festivals that are celebrated with much entrusiasm and devotion.

Festival - Translation - Universal Date(s) - Description
Isu Vamahu Gia or Poseidon Gia - Celebration of the First God or Poseidon's Birthday - January 31 - A celebration where people would express their devotion to the Aquanaut God, Poseidon, by giving offerings at his temple or praying.
Han Vamahu Gia or Maura Gia - Celebration of the Third God(dess) or Maura's Birthday - February 24 - A celebration where people would express their devotion to the Aquanaut Goddess, Maura, by giving offerings at her temple or praying.
Dyuus Gia or Sugo Ya - Spring Day or New Year - March 21 - Preparation for the next day.
Dyuus Zunehone - Spring Festival - March 22 - A festival that celebrates the new year and the coming of spring. It takes place all over Poseidon Empires, but particularly in Arina. How people prepare for it depends on their occupation and wealth, but the festival is generally the same each year.

Unit 7 - History of the Aquanauts
Enuasa Ivune
- By Ivsusu Fuvuge

Modified by Vimosu Vunua

The history of the Aquanauts is a long and complicated one, though not as long and complicated as others. Fortunately, this version has been shortened for the better of your understanding and enjoyment. Each chapter is about four to eight paragraphs long, in some cases more. You can skip pass any section and read only the ones you want since they are clearly labeled. Oh, and before we continued, a key was included for you below.

Aquanician Year
IY = Ivgo Yau = “Old Age”
SY = Sugo Yau = “New Age”

Zelphian Year
BZ = Before Zelpha
AZ = After Zelpha

Chapter 1 - Age of Birth (1 IY - 380000 IY)/(1 AZ – 380000 AZ)

Creation & Location
The Aquanauts or as they later called themselves, “Enuasa,*” have long existed within the ocean depths of Zelpha, though back then they were hidden creatures of the sea. They were one of the last couple of races to be created, but their lifestyle was wild and savage making them more like monsters of the sea rather then people of the sea. Even in physical appearance they could be description as scaled and slimy creatures with short rough hair, claws, and fangs. Their ears and noses were flat upon their heads, and they kept their bodies completely exposed. In one part of the sea, they would hunt the sea creatures around them and gather items such as coral or rocks to make weapons. During this period, they did not seem to stray to far from what is now the Ocean of Dragons as it had all they needed. How exactly the Aquanauts’ early life was cannot be determined but from surviving artifacts, researchers have figured out and discovered many interesting details.

Early Culture
The early Aquanician lifestyle was very primitive, basically full of hunters and gatherers with possibly a language solely based on sounds. They only ate meat, and they ate it raw since there was no way for it to be cooked. Sometimes they would even feast on their prey while it was still alive. The only purpose for gatherers was to create weapons, as they did not need clothes. Over time it seemed that their skin had thicken to what it is now so it could withstand most sharp and rough objects as well as the terrain. For shelter, they lived in caves or even in holes they dug in the sand. However, other then that, not much else is known.

Technology & Beliefs
There was little technology and any sort of belief during this time period or at least, little that we know. Most of their technology was just various weapons and tools such as daggers/knives, spears, ropes, nets, and slingshots. The Aquanauts had used various rocks, coral, and sea plants in their area. It could be assume that while two-thirds of the Aquanauts hunted, the remaining one-third worked on the weapons and tools. That one-third may even have been the ones who found or made the shelters. It could also be assumed that it was mostly the males who went out to hunt while the females and children stayed behind.

As for beliefs, there has been no solid evidence that the early Aquanauts ever believed in any sort of divinity or whatever or not they had any sort of ceremonies. Most artifacts just suggest that they hunt and crafted tools. Any sort of artwork shows the men kill their prey and consuming them. Occasionally, there are crude images that depict men or women fighting each other. Whether it was for some sort of contest or just a large angry brawl, we do not know. It is not even positive that they had any sort of leader or leaders. The Aquanauts just seemed to work together in a large community because of similarities they share that made comfortable around each other. The any other creatures, even the most docile ones, they seem to have behaved in a hostile manner.

Conclusion
Summing up, they were basically a primitive and rather monstrous race. But many details have yet to be proved. We are aware of their physical appearance, though the language remains to be unproven. It was just assumed so as a language was actually developed in a later period. However, it is possible that the more primitive Aquanauts had an actual language but it was forgotten over time, most likely during the beginning of the Age of Darkness (see Chapter 5). An Aquanaut of this time period lived for many years, much longer than the Aquanauts of today according to a couple of skeletons we were able to uncover. Although, not long enough to make it to the Age of Darkness so it could be assumed that during the Age of Darkness, the knowledge from parent to child was not passed on as it normally would. Therefore, the majority forgot much of what those Aquanauts knew in earlier ages.
