It was still dark outside, when the young woman woke from her slumber. The stars still sprinkled the sky, as if someone spilled a bag of diamonds, and the only sign of the approaching day was a bit of light on the horizon. It wouldn't be too long before the sun would rise up, and the stars would disperse, knowing that their time was done. But, Annabelle had never been one to sleep in... You didn't usually get that luxury, when you lived on a busy farm like she did. There were also chores to be done, be it cleaning stalls, taking care of the Pokemon, or tidying up the house. Whatever needed to be done, it was always best to start early. And so, Annabella swung her legs over the side of the bed, and got up with a yawn and a stretch.

Her mind was already working, though it was still slowed by the fog of sleep. What did she have to do first... She supposed letting the Miltanks out of their pens so they could get their morning grazing in was probably a good idea. She started to dress, choosing a simple pair of blue jeans and a plaid, flannel shirt. The jeans had definitely seen better days - they had a few holes, and were long since faded. However, unlike many teens, it wasn't for fashion... They were simply her go-to attire for farm labor. Annabelle actually really liked dresses, and pretty things, but there was always a separate time for that. And that time was not when there were chores to be done!

She slipped on a pair of boots, before heading into the main part of her parent's home. It was a nice, sizable farm... Modest, but easily self-sustaining and profitable. Annabelle started to root around for something to eat... She was usually a light eater, at least in the mornings. Truth be told, though, she attacked food like she was starving when it came time for supper. Today... was a normal day. And that was good, she supposed. She had a pretty good life, out here.

It is about the time she finishes breakfast that she feels something...it's like a shockwave, but purely...mental?

As Annabelle finished her morning meal, she looked up with surprise as a shockwave of mental energy resounded within her head. Dark blue eyes widened as she looked around for a moment, as if trying to discern what had caused the strange burst of energy. But, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. That couldn't be true, though... She had definitely not "imagined" what had just happened. She would have to investigate, maybe there was something big going on around the farm. Could it be a psychic Pokemon? She didn't see a lot of those around here, usually, except for the stray Abra now and then.

She stood, putting two fingers to a mouth and whistling. From a nearby room, a small Eevee trotted out. It yawned, stretching casually as it shook its body. Small black eyes looked up at Annabelle, expectant and waiting. Behind the Eevee, a nice little room with its own hand-made bed, water, and food supply marked where it had spent the night. "Come on Daisy... I think something's up, okay gal?" Annabelle said, beckoning with a smile to the little Eevee. Pokemon could often see, hear, and smell things a person could not. Hopefully Anna's little Eevee could find something about what she had felt. The Eevee was far from a combatant, however... Annabelle was not a battling trainer.

Annabelle grabbed her hat, in the usual cowboy fashion. This one was white, contrasting nicely with her raven-black hair, which descended a bit past shoulder-length. She was a pretty girl, in the sort of earthy, natural way... Maybe not a "bombshell," and certainly not dolled up, but with her own charms regardless. She headed out the front door, the Eevee trotting after her dutifully. Annabelle looked around, trying to see if anything was out of the ordinary.

The various Pokemon on the farm have all freaked out to an extent, including Daisy. "Veeveevee?" she asks, as if wondering whether her trainer wishes to actually investigate that shockwave. Considering that it seems to have hit the entire farm...thankfully, no one is fainted from the shockwave, but it was definitely a lot of power if it hit the whole farm...and the best place to do that from would be the copse of trees near the center.

Thankfully, no one was hurt by the strange shockwave... though the Pokemon certainly seemed frightened. Annabelle frowned, as she thought about this. It had clearly not just happened to her. Then... did that mean something was endangering the Pokemon on the farm, too? They all seemed very worried, including Anna's own Daisy. Trying to figure out exactly what it was could be dangerous, but if the Pokemon were worried, something bad was likely happening. It may not have been the smartest idea for Annabelle to investigate it herself, but she didn't much like the idea of letting something just hang out that may or may not be able to hurt her Pokemon buddies. She wanted to at least try to see what it was.

And so, she started to walk swiftly for the copse of trees in the center of the farm, feeling both curious and worried.

Eventually, she arrives at the copse, and finds a smoking black spot of carbon and burnt plants near the center...
And lying in the center of that is a strange Pokemon. She's never seen anything like it before...but it looks badly wounded and unconscious. It's lavender and purple colorings and humanoid build make for an eerie, yet somehow pleasant, creature to observe...

"Oh my word... You poor thing!"

Annabelle looked at the large, obviously powerful Pokemon lying on the ground before her. She had never heard or seen anything like it... The perfect balance of power and grace in its body structure was a sight to behold. What was it doing here, on her family's farm? And, much more importantly... Why was the poor being hurt? She gasped, looking with shock at the multitude of wounds marking the Pokemon's body. Who would do such a thing to a Pokemon? And such a rare and beautiful one as this, too... This could be an entirely new species! Being somewhat of a Pokemon-fanatic, Annabelle had studied all types. But she had never heard anything with a description even close to this great beast.

There was no time to waste, of course. Its wounds were grievous, and it needed treatment. Annabelle didn't know what had caused the injuries, but they would have to be tended to quickly. She reached into one of the bags on her belt, which was full of medical supplies for treating Pokemon. She was somewhat of a family Poke-Doctor, and often tended to the bruised ankles or small cuts on the Pokemon around the farm. This, however, looked much more serious than her average task. She started by trying to clean up the blood... This guy was a real big one. She didn't know if she had enough cloth on-hand to bandage all of his injuries... But she could at least clean them now, then maybe run back and get some more.

It's quite a while before the Pokemon's injuries are apparently taken care of. It's still unconscious, though it's breathing normally.
Then, its eyes flash open, pure white! The irises roll back into place, a dark violet, and then close again, as though the burst of consciousness were just that - a temporary burst.

Annabelle gasped, stumbling back at the sudden opening of the Pokemon's eyes. They were a dark violet, and seemed to emanate a great aura of intelligence. She didn't know what else to do, at this point, but wait for the poor thing to wake up... She had treated him to the best of her abilities, and he seemed to be breathing normally. She hoped it would be friendly... But she would easily understood if the Pokemon woke up a bit miffed, in light of its wounds. She waited, sitting on a nearby tree stump, as she watched and admired the magnificent beast.

It's a long time before it awakens...and when it does, it groans, emitting a psychic frequency of words - Where...am I...? It groans and weakly tries to push itself upright.

Annabelle's eyes widened in surprise as she heard the Pokemon... speak. She was pretty good with Pokemon, and could usually understand what they wanted to tell her. But this was different... This big guy actually... used the human tongue. His words were unmistakable, sent from a psychic presence that made her feel small and weak. This was no stray Abra... Surely this had to be some manner of Legendary beast! Especially if it could actually communicate so easily with humans. Many questions immediately burst into her mind, but she forced herself to hold her tongue for now. The poor thing had gone through a terrible ordeal, she doubted it wanted to be barraged with questions first-thing when it woke up.

"Woah, take it easy big fella!" She said, smiling reassuringly. "You're on the Zorestrus Family farm... About the heart of our land." She frowned, looking at him worriedly. "Are you okay? You looked very hurt when I found you... What happened? I tried to tend to you the best I could... Take it nice and slow, some of the stuff's still healin'."

The second he hears her speak, his eyes snap open again, and -
Pain? The next thing Annabelle knows is that she's against a tree, knocked back by sheer psychic power. The creature screams in her head, shouting, STAY AWAY FROM ME! Daisy yelps and cowers, realizing this creature is well out of her league. The strange Pokemon starts to try and get away -
And its arm breaks audibly. It yelps and falls to the ground, cradling its wounded forearm. It glares at Annabelle...but somehow, she can tell that more than angry...far more...he's terrified. Terrified of her, of what she might do to him.

The sensation of flying through the air was swift, before Annabelle felt herself smack against a tree. Before she even knew what was going on, she was sprawled out on the ground. Her hat had fallen somewhere nearby, as she tried to regain her breath. Pain started flaring throughout her body, as she had hit the tree with a surprising amount of force. This Pokemon was definitely powerful, if it had done that simply by reaction... If it wanted to, it could clearly end her life before she could even blink. She felt a bit of fear, but it was mixed with awe. This was extraordinary... Even if it ended badly for her, she was blessed to see such a beautiful Pokemon.

When its arm broke, and it fell to the ground, she slowly picked herself up. Her head was ringing, but she didn't seem to have any serious injuries. "W-wait!" She called, raising a hand. "Be careful! You hurt yourself really badly, big fella! I-I don't want to hurt a majestic thing like you, but please don't make your wounds worse!"

It stares at her, most of its anger turning to confusion. What do you care, human? it asks with a snarl - that sounds more like a whimper due to the pain of its arm. The Pokemon's limb is bleeding lightly, a bit of bone splinter poking out. What reason could you possibly have to help me?

The Pokemon seemed to be very upset... And with good reason, considering it was likely part of one heck of a fight before she found it. Maybe the Pokemon thought she was with the people that hurt it... But she most certainly wasn't! The poor thing was huge, and powerful, but also seemed to have a bit of fear in its eyes. "Y-You're a Pokemon! I love Pokemon!" She said, stumbling a bit over her words as she was humbled by the awesome psychic presence that repeatedly spoke within her mind. "A-and a really lovely one! I love to take care of fellas like you!" It was the truth... She was known to spend hours doting on Pokemon, even to the point of neglecting her other chores. In cases where the Pokemon was ill, she had been known to forgo sleep and sustenance entirely, until her parents forcibly made her rest.

It glares at her more intensely now...searching for something. She feels a strange presence in her mind...a presence of the Pokemon's creation. Perhaps it's trying to read her mind?

Annabelle shivered, letting the Pokemon in without resistance. She knew psychics could tell a lot by looking into someone's mind... And she wanted to prove to this big guy that she really wasn't trying to hurt it. Well, him, actually... It seemed that the presence was pretty clearly male, though it could have been some asexual species of Pokemon. For all her knowledge about the different species, she had never seen or heard anything quite like this one. She tried to smile, feeling a bit of fear, but also a bit of excitement. For all the danger... She was actually face-to-face with a legendary! ...She didn't quite know which, yet, but this was clearly no ordinary Pokemon.

A few tense minutes of him - for it seemed to be male, now - searching her memories brings up those memories in her head, as well...slowly, though, he goes deeper, into more personal moments. Lost family. Her first meeting with Daisy. The loss of an older family Pokemon, a herding Growlithe. Still he presses on.

"I..."

Annabelle felt frozen, as the Pokemon started to sift deeper and deeper into her memories. She had not expected it to dive so deeply into her personal memories, and it felt a bit violating. Even though she wanted this Pokemon to trust her, he was getting into... really personal stuff. Still, she was all too aware of the fact that, if he so wished, he could probably simply snap her mind like a twig. While he very carefully guarded his own memories and being, she still got a feel for the scope of this great being's mind.

As he pressed further and further into her memories, he saw more and more of who she was. There had been so great event or sudden tragedy that had given her such a heart for Pokemon... She had simply always been that way. He saw images of her as a child, spending hours making poorly-drawn sketches of Pokemon. He saw her playing the part of a pretend "Pokemon Doctor" who could make all the sick Pokemon better again. She had grown up in a very rural area, in a very small town... And so her friends had been limited. She only got to see them once in awhile, but Pokemon... She spent a great deal of time with every day.

He withdraws as he sees this. Slowly, stunned, but he does. He stares at her, curious. ...I... he manages. You...aren't alone like this, are you... he realizes, his "voice" soft and weak suddenly. With more strength, he continues, I...did not mean to "violate" you. I wanted to understand who you were...and why. And if you were alone in being the way you are. He notices the bandages finally, staring at them surprisedly.

"I patched you up as best as I could," Annabelle said, smiling nervously. She let out a breath of relief, now that the Mewtwo had withdrawn his presence from her mind. He had likely seen a lot... But hopefully it helped to gain his trust. He really was magnificent, just... scared. She wondered who had hurt him... He was so rare and beautiful! "I think it'll take a proper splint for your poor arm, though," she frowned, looking at the broken limb. "What happened? Why... Why would someone hurt something as elegant and lovely as you? I don't understand..."

Annabelle nodded, moving quickly over to the large amount of medical supplies she had brought. It had taken several trips, while the Pokemon was still unconscious, but she had gotten quite a few medical items out here to try to help him. Now, she took a splint and some bandages, and quietly took his broken arm. If he didn't want to talk about what he had been through... That was his right, she supposed. He was the mighty, legendary Pokemon here, after all... She was just a normal gal, who held no authority to demand answers from a beast like this.

After a short period of time, she set the bone. It was still very ginger, but she applied a few herbal salves to it to take away some of the pain. Being a girl used to living off the land, she knew quite a few herbal remedies. Once she was satisfied, she stepped back, nodding. "There... You'll need to be careful with it, though. Pokemon usually heal pretty fast, but don't strain yourself..." It would be easier if she could take him to a nice and proper PokeCenter... Those places could patch up Pokemon even better than she could. But, it seemed very unlikely this legendary beast was going to go to one.

Mewtwo nods. I...th-thank you, he says. ...I don't know how to describe them. The ones who attacked me. They...said something about a weapon. Getting me back. I'd seen some of their uniforms before...black, with a red symbol on the front. He mentally impresses an "R" into her mind - an image of the "symbol". They were...hunting me, trying to bring me back to someone they called "Boss".

"Oh my god..."

Annabelle's hand reached up to cover her mouth in an expression of horror. She knew exactly what the great Pokemon was talking about... Or rather, who. Even though she had never met them in person, the description was unmistakable - Team Rocket. She had heard about them, but always wondered if they were just a rumor. After all, she lived far out in the countryside, and national news often took a long while to get there... She didn't really want to believe that there were people that would willingly abuse Pokemon like that. And all for money, and power. The very idea infuriated her. They must have captured this poor Legendary, hoping to use him as a weapon for their rotten gain...

"I know who they are," she said, fully understanding the legendary Pokemon's hostility, and its confusion. If all the humans he had ever known were from Team Rocket... It was no wonder he thought she was going to try to hurt him. "They're an evil group of people... They're called Team Rocket. Most humans want nothing to do with them... They look exactly how you described. I've... only heard rumors about them, really, but they say they ruthlessly use Pokemon for personal gain." She shook her head sadly. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that... And so glad you got away!"

Mewtwo nods. I see...but, I need to clarify something... he says. They never..."caught" me like most Pokemon. He seems confused. They...at least, if those white-wearing men were with Team Rocket...they made me. He gives her an image of the scientists and the lab that he first remembers seeing...complete with the oversized test tube he woke up in.

"They... made you?"

Her eyes opened in shock, as she wondered how such a thing was even possible. Could... could that really be done? She had never heard of anything like that even being attempted, before. Suddenly, a piece clicked into her head. She didn't know much about this Pokemon, but she had gotten a name... "Mewtwo." The name was very similar to a Legendary Pokemon she did know, the elusive and powerful Mew. Could there... Could there be a connection? Mew...Two? To her knowledge, no one had managed to catch Mew. Sightings of the Pokemon were often met with skepticism, but legends told of it being the predecessor for all Pokemon. "I didn't know that was possible..." she said, nodding slowly.

Mewtwo nods. Yeah...they...called me "Mew...two". That explains the picture I saw...they found Mew hair, and cloned me from that and a... Realizing her shock, he suddenly clams up, wondering if her kindness would suddenly vanish for fear...it wouldn't surprise him.

"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," Annabelle said, frowning as she noticed Mewtwo tensing. "It doesn't matter to me how you came to be... But you are here, and you are a very majestic Pokemon. What matters is that you are safe from those evil Rockets..." Her face turned up into a smile, once more. "I just found it surprisin'... I hadn't thought you could create a whole new species! I know who Mew is, but... Aside from ancient paintings, no one really knows what it looks like. It's one of the greatest legends..." She looked up at Mewtwo with even more admiration. "I am very honored to have met you, Sir."
