Kerzn nodded to the offer and took the ration. "Thank you." With a light sigh, he plopped the food into his mouth. "Shadow has gotten too big. When it falls," He said with complete confidence, "this world will fall into utter chaos. Too many count on it for guidance. The Human kingdom relies on Shadow, even if unwillingly." He looked over to Jenneire softly. "I even helped it grow to that side."

"Well. . . we just have to avoid the chaos, somehow." Jen sighs, feeling more than a little helpless, but less helpless than before she had met him.

"Or we can stop it." Kerzn put out the idea but failed to think of a "how." "For now we get away... there is not much else we can do."

"Yeah, exactly what I was saying." Jen says slowly, munching on her food slowly.
We can only hope. . . and pray, now.

"Ah... I see." Kerzn wondered about solutions for awhile. The next few hours passed in mostly silence. This ex-Shadow was not much of a talker--clearly. As night set in, the soldier started up a fire in a clear area of the trench. Even with the cramped spaces, the fire kept warm and active. "Are you warm?" He finally spoke up again.

Kerzn watched Jenneire get comfortable by the fire. As she drifted into sleep, the sniper walked over and keeled beside. "Here." He removed his over-shirt and placed it over her. Maybe this man had a heart after all. Having done his good deed, Kerzn lied down on the opposite side of the fire. One rifle rested next to him in case of emergency.

The night went by peacefully.

(Day 9 of 14)

After the restful sleep, Kerzn arose and began to pack up their supplies. By the time Jenneire woke up, everything was packed up into a bag of sorts--except the weapons. He was busy, it seemed. "Come on." He motioned to her. "We should get going before someone comes by."

Jen sighed, and stretched as she got ready for the day.
He doesn't seem like a bad person. . . at least for a ex-shadow.
She grabbed her rifle, and slung it over her back, grabbing her ammo along with it.
"Well. . . nothing like starting early, is there."

"Not so much." Kerzn picked up the rest of the equipment and food and lead the way northward. "We'll be walking for some time, but keep your eyes peeled for anyone. We will not know who is friend or foe, so let's try to keep hidden." The grassy plane in front of them stretched for miles, it seemed. Staying hidden will be rather difficult.

She tried to stay hidden as best as she could, but settled on staying vigilant, eyes open to every little movement and rustle in the grass.

Four hours passed quietly. Kerzn and Jenneire encountered no people and few animals. Noon drew close, so the Leison sniper decided to rest. By this time, the plane had given to a few more object than endless grass. Kerzn sat down by a lone tree and pulled out some of the food. "We should have enough for a few more days," He explained, while handing some of the rations to Jenneire. "I believe we're almost at Dragon territory. I thought they normally live in caves, but... if this is Dragon territory where are the caves?" He questioned to not one in specific.

"Maybe it isn't caves in these plains? Maybe burrows or something?" she wonders, grabbing a bit of her food. The grass rustled around them, her feet telling her she needed to stay off of them as she plopped down, glad for the cover of the tall grass, where they could get it at least.

"Hm... that could be." Kerzn munched on the remaining of his food. "Hopefully we won't fall into one of the burrows and end us Dragon breakfast." He meant to joke, but the words came out more serious than intended. Moments later, a large shadow flew over the grass nearby. Kerzn caught a glimpse and stood attention. "What?" He peeked from out of the tree cover and looked upward. A sizable figure circled over head. In a moment, the flying being dove straight at Kerzn.

The Leison sniper jumped back and picked up his rifle. The creature, smashing the ground with all fours, sent out a shock-wave that tossed both Kerzn and Jenneire several feet back. The food, weapons, and ammo scattered all over, and even the tree fell over. As the creature flew away, the two Leison determined the enemy as a Dragon--an impossibly large Dragon.

Fuck!
She was thrown back, away from whatever weapons she may have had, as she stared at this huge dragon that had slammed into the ground in front of them.

Kerzn crashed upon his side and slid a distance. What the heck?! He quickly pushed to his feet and rushed to his rifle, but, so it would happen, the Dragon smashed down again--directly upon the weapon. This shock-wave did merely forced the Leison sniper backwards, without knocking him over. Jenneire had enough distance to avoid the strike all-together. The beast darted back into the air. "Jen, RUN!" What would Kerzn do then?"

Jen's eyes went wide, as she tried to get her rifle, it had been knocked further away from the dragon, thankfully.
Can't just abandon him. . . not now, not when we are nearly away!

Kerzn watched Jen dash away with relief. Now he could focus on the enemy at hand... or Jenneire could run away to a rifle and then turn to fight. The man growled angrily, "I told you to run! Get out of here, that thing can kill you." As the spoke, the flying lizard circled overhead. Any second, that beast could pounce and kill either of them.

Jenneire's stubbornness troubled Kerzn greatly. What would happen if she got hurt--got killed? Debating the issue anymore would result in their deaths, so he focused on the enemy at hand. Eventually, the Dragon drifted down--not dive.

As the distance shrank, Jen and Kerzn caught a better visual of this nuisance. From the size, they could gather that this creature owned many years. The head bulged with a metal plate on the forehead. Scars traveled one side of the creature. Despite the strange appearance, Kerzn recognized the enemy. "Arnel!?" An ex-leader of Shadow. "You're dead."

The massive being landed softly on the ground. "Yes... you are. Next." With open mouth, Arnel opened his mouth and spat out fire towards Kerzn. The Leison dashed out of the way. "Slow, dog-gy." The words seemed on the stupid side; in fact, they came out slowly and fumblingly. The dragon's movement proved to be quite the opposite. With a swift stomp, Arnel spewed electricity from his feet. The attack tracked Kerzn easily and quickly caught him. The powerful shock crawled through his body.

"Rahhh!" Kerzn yelled in pain. Unfortunately, the electricity did not leave his body, for Arnel sent a continual supply out.

The crap? Thats just. . . wrong. . .
She was raising the rifle as her partner started to get zapped, and she let off a shot at the dragon's head, but not at the armor plate.

Unfortunately, the plate protected the most vital organ--the brain. Even so, the bullet hit the Dragon's cheek and pierced through to the other side. Arnel stopped his attack and turned to Jenneire, while blood spilled out his mouth. Sadly, the lightning put Kerzn completely out, so Jen was left to fend off this beast alone. The monster's mouth opened, but no flames came out. Jenneire had one chance to kill this beast... for the lightning strike could still be used

Her eyes were a little wide, as she quickly aimed, before letting off a couple shots- straight at the dragon's open mouth, hoping that one would go through the roof of it and destroy the brain.

Her shots did not hit quite as planned; nonetheless, the bullets proved just as deadly. The proper angle did not appear for Jenneire to hit the brain; instead, the shots pierced the mouth and the throat in the back. Panicked by the strike, Arnel jumped back. By the time he realized what happened, he was already out of air, so the mighty Dragon fell over dead.

Fortunately, the battle lasted rather short, but Kerzn ended up out cold. He was a sniper... so sudden, frontal conflicts may not be his forte. The electricity left his entire body burned, but, thanks to the shortness of the strike, his wounds did not pose any serious harm. Water would be good, though... then again, they were in the middle of nowhere.

Jen stared first at the dead dragon, then at the zapped wolfen man on the ground.
Oh. . . wow. . . did I do that?
That was when the other line of thought caught up with her, and she rushed over to him, first checking to see if he was breathing, trickling a little bit of water down his throat as she tried to wake him up.

To Jen's relief, Kerzn did breathe. His pulse owned some irregularity, and his skin was tinted red; on the bright side, the electricity had barely touched his fur or eyes. When Jenneire poured the water down Kerzn's throat, the sniper man jolted upward and hacked up the water. He must have breathed the liquid in. Realizing his injuries, he yelped, "OW!" Any movement caused cringing. "Stupid Arnel... how did he survive?" The man grumbled.

Jen sighed, relived that he was well- at least well enough to be moving around so much and talking to boot.
"Good to see you up, and I dunno why Arnel is still around." she says slowly, before going to the body of the dead dragon, almost trying to see under the metal plate on it's forehead.

At a closer look, Jenneire noticed magitech wires moving out of the metal plate into Arnel's skull; in addition, the metal was welded to the beast's head. Otherwise, the metal seemed pretty normal.

Kerzn sat still. He could not move without some fair pain, but the worst blow hit his pride. He looked down at his hands, realizing how easily he had been beaten, while Jen seemed to kill the monster without issue. He felt useless--weak.

"Looks like he wasn't alive. . . just dead and hadn't finished moving yet." she said slowly, ripping out the wires she could get at- to disable it further, she didn't want this dragon on their tail again. She didn't even look at him yet.

"We don't have technology to keep people alive," Kerzn spoke as a matter of fact. Questions filled his mind, but he chose to ignore the most obvious. "He never showed up in Hadred, so he couldn't have possibly got the Kaizer's help. Doesn't matter now... we should get moving." Kerzn attempted to stand, but his legs failed him, dropping him onto his knees. "Grrrr..." He attempted one more but failed still.

Jen saw him having trouble standing, and let the rifle go on it's sling, bits of the magitech laying on the ground around the dragon's head, it wasn't any use to them, as she went over to him, to help him up.
"Well. . . we aren't dead at least?"
