"Previous selves?"

Yeria asked confused and wondered how Kutask was doing if he even was alive. She was mildly confused and wondered if her body needed more recovery or if she could move. she tried to turn her head to look around.
She sighed and was confused. There were many things she didn't understand.

"Can you please explain all of this?"

Naum wasn't really in any condition to do anything, she just watched with sad eyes.
Why. . . why does this all have to keep happening? Everything. . . going down the drain, right in front of me. Everything.

Shadow Lag grabbed Jenoth's leg and used it to jump upwards, as he delivered a punch straight to the chin. "LIGHT! Don't listen to her now! She's not Jenoth and that's enough! We can't risk losing our keys!" He said just as he came down and jumped backwards, while thinking.

"She just used wind and water, so basically I can't attack long range magic! So melee..." He said as he dashed forward and jumped towards Jenoth, with a roundkick on to her face.

"ARHHHHH!" He screamed as he tried to pin her to the ground.

The shattering of the spear startled Jenoth, so Shadow easily grabbed Jenoth's lag. His punch to the chin worked nicely, as well as the roundhouse. The beast reeled back in pain. Although, the progress ended at the grapple. The moment Sh. (Shadow) Lag tried to pin her, he found himself in trouble. The Dragon was much bigger than him. "Fool!" She grabbed Shadow's wrist tightly, causing pressure pain. Sh. Lag could not hold on anymore, and, once his hand detached, the monster spun around and tossed Shadow high into the air. Why the air?

While Shadow continued to gain altitude, Jenoth turned her attention to the tired original--Lag. Her wings spread wide, and she soared at Lag with much speed. In the last minute, Lag's power had recharged moderately but, by no means, could he stop the lug of scales charging him. He could not block or counter, but his speed remained. A dodge was foreseeable.

Despite Shadow Lag's attempts, the opposite of Lag could not win of his own, and Lag could not fight fully. Light needed to pitch-in fully.

"Good answer." The spirit told Gwen without tone. The cages started to act. The bars slowly melted into sludge, the ceiling burned away into nothing, and the floor flew away. Soon enough, both Naum and Heinmir were free.

The creature flew directly in front of Gwen. "I am incomplete. We shall join together... and I shall be whole again." While all three could hear the being, only Gwen could see with her ability to detect emotion. "This was your trial." Without another word, the spirit entered into Gwen's entity; although, Gwen experienced no change at all. At least her friend were safe.

Then, without warning, all three were tossed into a deep blue sea. Cold water splashed into their faces, and blue sky covered their view. Finally, the keys began to work again, and, for this, Heinmir managed to float, despite his armor and halberd. Another bonus of the Light key.

As Yeria communicated with the strange creature, she could finally move her body again. Her brain repaired and reactivated. In the meantime, the blur spoke back, "You should know. Those were Tros and Kesh in their original forms... memories of who they used to be. As I am of another." The wispy thing glided over to Yeria. "Can you see past judgment, or do you see only the sin?" While the question came out of nowhere, Yeria actually understood. The being wanted to know if Yeria only cared to judge the guilty or if she could at all forgive them.

Kutask received no response. A solitude, an emptiness formed around him. While only a few minutes passed, Kutask felt like he suffered the loneliness for hours. Finally, someone spoke. "Jenoth?" A familiar tone. "That is a point, I have not seen her around." Kutask recognized the speaker as Kesh. "So, you finally met Death face-to-face, hm?"

Yeria said and thinking back at her judging back there. She wondered if she did the right thing. She was a bit nervous about it all and sighed a bit confused.

Lag saw the massive dragon come at her and sighed. "Always the hardwork, eh?" He said as he inhaled a lot of air and spit it out in a massive blow to the ground, making him go up with great velocity. His Shadow balanced himself on the air and dived where Jenoth would be at the moment she would touch the ground, preparing himself for a massive pin down, using his body as a bullet which was aimed to the head.

Light had no idea what to do. Combat seemed to be inevitable, and he was so confused about this Jenoth. She seemed to be their friend at first, then she suddenly turned on them. He felt a chill inside of him. He could fight the monsters, but Jenoth... she seemed so much more real than them... He never really wanted to hurt anyone that seemed so 'human' to him. The idea of attacking her felt more like murder...

He hesitated "I... What do I do?!" he shouted, then saw everyone charging each other "Stop fighting!" he yelled at them, creating a thick wall of ice between them, a worried look on his face that someone innocent might end up dying here.

"T-thanks." she shivered, before a wave of heat came off of her, her whole body seeming to steam for a second, before cooling off.
"Much better." Naum said, stretching a bit.

Heinmir sputtered when his head came above the water surface, he had in surprise and shock swallowed a mouthful of water and now did his best to get it back up from his lungs. The keys had regained their power thankfully since his second key made it possible for him to float despite wearing full plate armor. He looked around while bobbing up and down softly in the sea, only sea and sky surrounded him without a hint of land anywhere,was this just another test? then for who was it meant for?

He conjured a large platform with a rounded bottom and climbed up on it once he saw that it was going to be able to float.
"At least we actually get some scenery for a change, can't even begin to count for how long I've been in featureless rooms ever since I came here" Heinmir said over his shoulder as he summoned two swords from nowhere, the swords moved on their own accord and struck each other, creating a shower of sparks which Heinmir was quick to capture with his magical powers and draw upon the heat to dry Himself just like Naum had done.

Both Shadow and Jenoth impacted the ice wall at the same time. The shadow ricocheted rather painfully, while Jenoth smashed into the solid wall. Cracks permeated the ice, but it stood. Jenoth stumbled backward trying to recover from the sudden shock. "That... was the wrong move." Her voice filled with cold calmness. While swords of ice formed in her hands, Jenoth spun around to Light's direction. With a mere swing of the sword, a blast of air shot out. Light could not block the wind, nor move into time. The strike smacked him in the forehead and threw him off his feet. The attack proved to be overall harmless, but the head blow hampered Light's balance.

Now that Light had been temporarily eliminated, the dragon shifted her attention to her other two opponents. She tossed one sword directly at the air-borne Lag and the other at his opposite. Wind control equipped the flying weapons with incredible speed and accuracy.

"If you consider dying for another's sake, then you failed miserably." The statement come out as an obvious jest. "You do realize that Yeria could not have taken care of... my old self alone." Kesh visibly moved up to Kutask. "All die. You just died sooner than expected. And, now is my turn to fade away. I guess I will meet my brother on the other side right now." The strange spirit smiled. "You will see Yeria again. And the others. This is good-bye. Nice knowing you my friend." In a moment, the two joined into one. Life filled the Sliver's bones and his senses kicked back into gear--better than ever before, at that.

"Wow, he left without saying anything?" Another familiar voice spoke. Kutask recognized this one as Tra. "I suppose losing his brother hit him hard... and then losing the one who was supposed to take his place. Anyways, Kutask, I need to join with you as well and pass on. But... unlike Kesh, I want to give you a chance for some answers. What do you wish to know?"

Meanwhile, Yeria continued the riddled conversation. "Double failure." The blurred thing chuckled. Despite Yeria's complete recovery, she could still not make out what the creature was. "If that was the case, you should have spared Voish. Of course, you didn't." The being began to toy with Yeria's mind. "And... if you do spare someone, then you have utterly betrayed your job. If you don't do it, then who will? Someone has to judge the miscreants of the universe. None else can step to the plate."

(Group 3)

Through the variety of means, Heinmir, Gwen, and Naum managed to escape the water. A welcoming breeze drifted around, the calm water provided relaxing sounds, and the fresh air brought joy to their lungs. For once, joyful scenery surrounded them.

The scenery lost some value as hair-splitting air horn shot through the air. At the origin, the three could see a metallic object sliced through the waves. In no time, they recognized the vessel as a warship. A warship? Cold steel plated the entire ship, and a mass of weapons decked the floors. As the ship drew nigh, its size became more apparent. The distance from bow to stern was over half a mile (practically a kilometer). By appearances alone, the vessel did not seem friendly. Although, this was the first time they had seen technology in the strange transforming world.

Kutask shook his head. "I wasn't trying to die," he tried to protest - before his "partner" vanished. He sighed, then reacted when the other old Keybearer came. "...anything of value," he says. "I want to know what caused everything to die except us. And if I hear another riddle, if I don't hear the full truth, that's not an answer!" he adds with a snap. He then recoils at his own temper. "...sorry. I just feel like no one's been straight with me except Light since we..." Silence. "Light...is he okay? Can I help him in some way if he's not?"

Lag and Shadow knew what to do. As a mirror to it's reflection, they raised their hands up and both summoned to their natural elements: Wind and Fire!

Lag summoned his wind controls and he willed the wind to change the direction of propel and speed while forming a space of solid wind barrage, a wind shield.

Shadow Lag merely surrounded his body with enough fire power to try and melt the ice. Water can't always win against the flames of Purge.

Heinmir stared into the distance when a hair-splitting deep sound rang through the air and right before his eyes a large metal behemoth rose over the horizon, quickly closing the gap between it and them. Cannons littered on the deck of the ship, pointing out over the sides of it's metal clad hull that sliced effortlessly through the water.
His make shift raft wobbled wildly when Gwen suddenly dropped Naum down in front of him and flew off towards the strange ship.
You got to be kidding me...well better to strike first sometimes right? he thought and shot out his arms straight to the side just as a pair of large metallic wings appeared, running along his arms and down along half his torso. The wings looked like long curved knives with thin slits in the middle of them instead of a collection of feathers. He grabbed Naum around the waist just as he started to run and effortlessly tossed her on his back when he jumped, causing the raft to tilt over from the force his kick off had caused. A strong updraft lifted him and Naum into the air but with a quick change in the wind they started to fly towards the ship at high speed. For once Heinmir was actually glad that he possessed the powers he did, he would never have been able to fly like this otherwise. A tickle like a hundred butterflies sat in his stomach as they dived towards the meal behemoth and Heinmir found to his surprise that he was laughing lowly, the laughter steadily grew louder until he was laughing as loud as he could, he had never done anything this fun before in his entire life.

"But we can't judge everything only because of what crimes they have done. Now can we?"

Light made a confused gasp, unable to process just exactly what was going on as he was knocked to the ground and slid a few feet back.

She... She hit me... he thought shakily, his breathing staggered by the blow But... but she helped us before... is she Jenoth or...

He continued to lie in place on the ground, trying desperately to evaluate the situation in a way that kept Jenoth as an ally. He desperately wanted her to be on their side, and he just wanted to cry thinking of harming someone in the same situation as the rest of them in this strange world.

"I can't do it..." he whimpered quietly "I won't hurt her... Need... Need to help her..."

"We can't." The person walked up to Yeria. "But, you can. You are the Judge. Every sin committed and every evil deed done, you'll know about. You'll see the good as well." After a short pause, the creature explained, "You will judge every action of every creature lower than yourself. Will you give the thieves, traitors, and murderers forgiveness? How about the child-abusers and the wife-beaters? Or even those who hate you? Can you forgive in a certain circumstances while not in others, yet remain fair? You are the Judge."

"Haha." Tra gave a jolly chuckle. "You can't stand remaining in the dark. I understand." The spiritual entity swayed one way then the other. "Light will be fine, as will you. But until the Master is destroyed, none can be safe. You should be able to help him in time..." He turned away. "I do not even know why you eight survived. For those of us that remained--myself and the other seven spirits--we assumed you survived my sheer chance. All I know is that we were wrong. Chance doesn't exist. The seven of you have changed everything... history does not have to repeat itself. Not this time." The ghost-like person faced Kutask. "Destiny chose you and the others. I do not know why it chose for Jenoth to perish... why should she have survived only to be killed? I wonder. But, the rest of you stand to make a new world unlike the previous. I know no more." Tra chuckled again. "I have the rest of my life to answer your questions. Be there anymore, I will answer to the best of my ability." In other words, Kutask could have practically all his questions answered--at least partially.

Getting a closer look, Gwen, Naum, and Heinmir noticed the vast weaponry on this steel bruiser. Four three-barreled turrets, several missiles launchers, a boatload of anti-air guns, and a few torpedo launchers decked this monstrosity of a boat. The vessel did not seem to notice the three; although, all three noticed a distinct lack of a crew. The ship merely cut through the water with determination.

Then the weapons made a move. The main artillery guns aimed in four separate direction. BAM!!! The weapons fired. Although, the shots were aimed at practically nothing and impacted the waters. The boat unleashed torpedoes and missiles but hit only the sea itself.

Gwen recognized emotion covering the ammo; although, their speed prevented her recognition of that emotion. Then the rounds exploded in the ocean and Heinmir's heart cracked. Immediately, the water grew dark, and a horrific stank consumed the air; The wind suddenly vanished, and the sky blackened. The ship was killing the sea. Somehow, Heinmir's conscience could not bear the thought. Even so, Naum saw deeper than either of Gwen or Heinmir. The attack was a picture; it represented something. The boat stood as a nation--a people--the ocean represent the universe--every other person--and the fighting reflected the war that destroyed everything--everyone. Naum did not see war; she saw senseless slaughter. Unforgivable. This vessel needed to be stopped--then and there.

~~~~~
(Group 2)
Shadow Lag's flames vaporized the icy weapon upon impact, though weakening the barrier in turn. Lag had some fortune as well. While he could not change the direction of or even slow the swords, his windy wall diced the other sword into tiny pieces Even so, the shards passed through and sliced up Lag on multiple areas. Blood poured out from the small wounds as if he had been cut by glass. In the meantime, Jenoth sped up at Lag. Shadow Lag could not even keep up with her speed, and Lag did not have time to counter. She seemed to be getting faster each second, now exceeding Lag's own agility.
Jenoth penetrated the air barrier with ease. Only after the barrier was pierced did Lag notice Jenoth. Without contestant, she grabbed Lag's throat and proceeded to spin around. After winding up several times, she tossed the "rag-doll" known as Lag directly at Shadow Lag. Stopping herself after another spin, she extended both hands out flat. Wind and water joined at the palms of her hands, before jolting towards Lag. The air cannon wielded the speed of wind but the force of water.
Thanks to Lag's own abilities, he could stop himself before hitting Shadow Lag and even dodge the oncoming attack; however, avoiding the attack would leave Shadow Lag open to the strike. The shadow's abilities did not include tiny reaction time, especially since the key had only just been received. Unlike Lag, Shadow Lag had only begun to learn the powers of his key. In short, Lag could attempt to block the attack or let Shadow Lag's flaming barrier take the hit. Would the fire hold against a water and wind attack?
For the last half a minute, Light could only watch. By the time the air cannon was fired, his body had recovered from the earlier wind attack. While he could not stop that attack, maybe he could temporarily stop Jenoth. That Dragon was learning quickly, but she has not surpassed any of them by much. Light still had a considerable chance.
Lag thought of something real quick, and said. "Water can't win against fire!" He said as he focused all of the air he could control into his surroundings and put it into the fire barrier, while preparing a daring escape.
The barrier grew at a large scale and the intensity of the flames grew to overwhelming proportions. Lag was caught in the heat but his healing power should suffice.
Shadow Lag went head-on against the cannon. No wind nor water could overcome the power of fire.
now what is this? a ship that steers itself? that can't be! no ship I've seen can steer itself...unless this is another challenge, then everything is possible. Heinmir was puzzled over seeing a crew-less ship, without sails, make it's way through the ocean, from his world every ship had sails and hundreds of men on deck.
He jumped when the cannons suddenly roared to life and sent their deadly cargo into the ocean where it detonated and sent up a large body of water into the air like some giant had shook his tankard too wildly and sent up his ale into the air. A grunt escaped Heinmir's throat when a sharp pain exploded in his chest, like his heart and lungs were suddenly set aflame. His vision darkened and he lost all sight for a few seconds, causing him to drop steeply towards the ocean, but when the vision came back he managed to stop his descent and hover above the giant warship.
Heinmir made a blood curling growl when he felt pieces of the ocean die, anger grew inside of him and the pain which was brought onto him by each explosion only helped to fuel that anger until the point were he was close to bursting. A tendril of clear water rose from the sea, it moved like a snake as it rose and drew closer to one of the ship's cannons. More tendril rose from the water and moved to a new cannon, each tendril growing in size each second. Within second there were more tendril than there were cannons on the warship and each were the size of a kraken's tentacle. Heinmir let out all of his anger in a loud, drawn out shout and all the tendrils rammed the cannons, filling the barrels of cold sea water before turning into a solid block of ice that blocked the barrels completely. The remaining tendrils rammed the ship with frozen tips that were as hard as steel but with the power of a crashing wave behind each tip.
Light looked on helplessly while he recovered, staring over at them with a worried look on his face as he stumbled to his feet. He didn't want to hurt her, but at the same time, he couldn't let her hurt Lag.
As he regained his sense of balance while finally managing to get up on his feet, he thrust his arms forward and called upon his key's icy powers once more. In an instant, Jenoth was completely frozen inside of a giant shard of ice, immobilized at least temporarily by the gigantic structure of frozen water that had erupted from the ground beneath her.
Light panted hard at the amount of force he had needed to exert to call the massive frozen prison from nowhere. "Please hold... Please..." he seemed to plead to the ice itself.
"Then...how?" Kutask asks. "I don't know what to do to make the world 'unlike the previous'. I...my instincts tell me a huge hive, where all is one, but from what I know...that wouldn't solve anything." He seems overwhelmed, exasperated, and despairing all at once.
Need to stop this thing. . . before it destroys us all along with everything else.
Naum stared, before she wrenched up her courage, and flew upwards, her gun in hand. She summoned a wave of massive heat, before focusing it down to a smaller size, and shoving it towards the ship. It seemed to melt and burn everything in it's path, as she was careful to stay out of the line of fire from the ship.
I mean, hell, if we went back in time with a briefcase nuke and just glassed a section of the desert we'd be worshipped as omnipotent world destroyers a couple thousand years later.
Gwen gathered a ball of black fire in her hands as she flew low over the water towards the ship, firing it directly below one of the guns where the ammo rack should be.
"Does that work?" The blur questioned Yeria. "You still cannot be fair that way, for they all deserve death and torment. Save a penitent one and kill the rebellious one?" The interrogation pushed farther. "What happens when both repeat their sins continually? What happens when both are sorry at one point but reveling at another? Do you judge them as they are when they die? Is that fair?" The voice spoke as if from experience. "What of a child who accidentally killed his brother? And of one who purposefully did? Do you even know what it is to judge? And of killing the unborn? Maybe to save the mother? Where does the moral line stand, Yeria? You must know. You are the Judge."
"You are not alone, Kutask." Tra nodded. "You have six... seven others to guide you in your ways. And you must guide them as well. None of you are gods, do not expect perfection from one alone." Tra seemed to lean one way. "However, combine all and you may be surprised. That is all I can tell you. While I have plenty of times... your friends do not." He entered into Kutask with haste. You will see a familiar face... be aware.
A falling sensation covered every spiritual portion of the Sliver.
(Group 2)
Jenoth gave a sly smirk as Lag moved out of the way of her blast. The beast fully expected for Shadow Lag to be annihilated. When the cannon shot splashed into the fireball harmlessly, the smirk faded into a distinct gawk. Before any other action came into her mind, a swelling of water covered her entire body. Not mere water, rather ice. As a heavy airborne ice cube, she plummeted to the ground quickly. Surprisingly, the ice prison barely chipped upon collision with the ground. Light had created colder--that is to say, stronger--ice than he predicted. For the time being, the frozen water held.
In the meantime, a confused little creature fell out of the sky. Instead of hitting the ground, the spirit being floated above the ground by a few inches. Light instantly recognized the figure. Kutask? What happened to him? Lag and his opposite also remember the creature, but, not as well as Light did. Kutask landed in unfamiliar territory with several familiar faces. Light stood out pretty largely, but Jenoth, in her ice hold, proved to be an even larger attention-stealer.
(Group 3)
Heinmir's attack struck first. The tendrils stopped the main cannon fire and even three pierced the side of the ship, letting water in. As more of them advanced, Gwen's fire hit. To her own dismay, the ball of flame bounced without a single mark of damage. Either her original magic was ineffective against the boat or a much larger attack would be needed. In the same moment, the flaming wave darted towards the boats.
Without a warning, a torrent of water jumped out of the ocean. The heat simply impacted the water without piercing through. The ship remained unscathed ; on the other hand, much of the water that protected the ship was evaporated by Naum's attack. Some of it covered those spear-like tentacles. In that contact, the water stagnated--died. In that moment, Heinmir felt a sudden loss of control over that water, for the dead water stole control. His tendrils stopped moving utterly. Several of the anti-air guns opened fired, destroying most of Heinmir's water weapons. The others remained in the cannons, but for a short second.
The main cannons turned upward... every single turret took aim at the three key-wielders. They fired destroying the remaining tendrils completely. The shots entered the air and exploded all around the three; though, the ice Heinmir used seemed to throw their aim off... at least for one shot. The anti-air guns shifted towards them as well... and the missile fire moved in their direction. When one bullet passed through Gwen... a sudden pain spiked in her body. The actual object did not touch her... but the element on those rounds did. She was vulnerable. A least thanks to distance, the shots were relatively easy to escape. All during, the torpedoes continued to shred the sea.
As the damage progressed, Heinmir's hearts continued to ache. He felt people's lives escape his grasp. Why? He could not comprehend... but how did that matter? In the middle of the emotional pain, something called him to the ocean. To enter it. Only two of the four weapons--missiles and torpedoes--could easily hit the water. And one of those was already hitting air targets. Keep every weapon source distracted and save the sea. Naum saw much the same, yet she did not have that calling. Merely the truth of the matter filled her mind. Gwen noticed something else from those two. She saw a source of emotion inside the hull of the ship. From her gatherings, that origin was a person. Possibly that one controlled the ship?
Kutask stares at the ice shard. {What the - Jenoth?!} he asks into her mind. {I thought you died...!}
"Kutask?!" The two beings said at the same time as both of them landed on the floor, Shadow Lag with grace while Lag plummeted to it. He was so tired.
"What... are you doing here?" Lag said as he used his staff to walk. He looked at the large chunk of ice at his side and said. "And that's how you freeze a big ugly dragon"
His Shadow looked at his key and sighed. He did not feel any change yet. But he looked at Lag and asked "Are we done? I need to rest as much as you."
Lag nodded and said. "Thank you... Ignaz." The Shadow looked at him and said "Fire... nice name" as he disappeared.
