Yeria was Holding the charge ball of energy that she had worked so long in creating and she wasn't about to let it go. she just needed to find a target to unleash all that pent up energy inside of it. The ball itself crackled and hissed with the immense energies contained within it. She tried to locate anything to fire it at using all of her senses. She really hoped that she would find a target soon. (1) |

(Group 1) Kutask's barrier cut through the sand with ease. The sliver sank into the sea slowly, until the withered soil swallowed him whole. The sand surrounded him, but he could move freely though the liquidy ocean of dust. In addition, his detection retured to him. The flow of the sand passed through his mind, and so did that of Delfor's. The fat creature sifted through the sea nearby. Kutask could detect each movement perfectly, including those that controlled this mess of soil. The distance between the two was minimal, and Delfor had not quite noticed the slippery sliver. The sand itself could now be manipulated, so Kutask could use that in addition to his barriers. Yeria's charge continued for sometime. Seemingly, the darkness around leeched into that attack, accelerating the progress. This was Yeria's environment, so her abilities manifolded; nonetheless, it seemed Voish's did as well. The slice through the sand dashed at Yeria and did not stop. Yeria felt cold travel through her body. Blood. Blood went everywhere, and Yeria's vision became clouded with red. Outside of her control, the ball of darkness dropped to the ground. Her entire body went limp and she plummeted to the ground... in two pieces. She could not longer see, nor move. Her senses drifted away, leaving her mind to a sudden empty existance. That was it. The darkness that surrounded became her, and she became that darkness. A new type of sensation filled her mind. She had become an entity, rather than a being; although, her case happened to be much different from Gwen's. The wind spirit had an obvious form, but Yeria owned no such thing. Just the darkness. A ghost to the truest extent. An opposing force stood before Yeria's pressense. A disgusting, vile creature. Yeria was the judge, and that monster was the criminal. She throw her judgement on that being. The sins weighed heavily. Dozens of murders, many thefts, slaughters, burnings, and more played parts in this "thing's" life. Voish. He became the darkness to judge the evil, but his own life had been marred beyond reasonable proportions. The worst of all, he had destroyed the innocent and polluted the youth. This man deserved death--the most brutal kind. Or Yeria could spare this rebelious, spiteful monster. Should he be? ~~~~~ (Group 3) Gwen received a deafening silence. The voice took time to respond but eventually did speak. "You cannot live without knowledge of your existance. You will need to find your answer before the time comes. Life will depend on you... and life cannot be made without purpose. Find that purpose." Finally, Gwen could move around again and return to Heinmir and Naum. Moments after Heinmir had inquired, "Where's Gwen?" that wisp returned to the cave. Naum's wound finally healed, Gwen felt full power again, and Heinmir received an nearly limitless supply of energy from the new key. The team could face another battle, but they earned a few moments of respite. The cavern remained quiet and motionless. ~~~~~ (Group 2) Jenoth looked back at Lag, wondering about their conversation, but she returned to Light, answering. "I would not know." Jenoth, what happened to you? "Sysh used your opposites as opponents. Whether or not they had a choice, I lack knowledge." You're not a robot. You don't have to obey! Wake up! The insanity continued mentally, remaining hidden from the others. Remember where you are going! Remember the way! While Lag and Shadow Lag stared off, the smokey darkness closed in, but only around those two. The rest vanished, strangely. "Two halves. One person." The pattern of voices continued. "No more." The area around the darkened further. "The Shadow will now find his own path. His own person. Congratulations at your victory." The smoke up and went, leaving only that dim light. A familiar emblem hung off of Shadow Lag's neck. A key. |

Yeria was dazed in confusion for a while until she realized what was happening, Her mind got an understanding of this monster but rage filled her thanks to the atrocities he had made. Punishment was due to this foul creature and she was going to punish him hard with all of her might. She charged her powers once again to a new level where she was surprised that she even could control it. She wanted him to feel all the pain he had caused. So that he could understand what horrors he had done before he died. She tried to reach out towards Voish to inflict her judgement. He deserved as much for all the pain and suffering he had caused throughout his life and possibly unlife. (1) |

(2) "So... you're saying that Dark isn't bad?" Light said half-heartedly "He saved my life before. I don't want to think that there's an evil enemy inside me... If it could be an ally that is..." Light didn't want to think that a part of him could really want to work against him. He didn't want to believe he was just a tool to help him either. His curiosity for his counterpart was great, but he didn't know how to invoke him again, or if it would be the best idea considering his encounter with him just moments ago. "... Sysh?" Light asked suddenly, the odd name coming to his attention only after a moment of thought "What's that?" |

(Group 1) Kutask begins to dive into the withered soil, entrenching himself in a perfect barrier of earth and protection. He makes absolutely sure he has a pinpoint on his foe, Delfor - Wait. One foe? Where was the other? Kutask then felt the pain of Yeria and realized what had happened - despite the fact that she was still conscious. He gasps from the pain and whimpers, his barrier shimmering for a split second. |

"A key..." Lag said as he stood up, with the help of the staff. "You were given... the second key." He said as he looked at his shadows counter part. "You are... the victor" The Shadow remained speechless as he stared at his new possesion. "My own... path?" he said as he grabbed it. "A new... path?" Lag looked at him and said "Yes. I have kept you trapped from the world as I just partied to my hearts content. This opportunity is something that we know you deserve" He said as he slowly walked to him. "But... We can't be separated, not yet at least." He said as he looked at his shadow counterpart. "This key is the sign of recognition of duty. You and I must work together... to prevail and defeat the evil that destroyed our world." The Shadow nodded as he smiled back. "After all... I am you" "Two halves..." Lag said, as he offered his hand as in a handshake. The Shadow accepted as he ended. "that form a whole" He said as he moved back to his rightful place. Group 2 |

"That I can at least say that I know how it feels like" Heinmir chuckled at Gwen and looked up at the wisp, she had saved his life earlier when the tiger was rushing towards him, it was thanks to her that he managed to beat it. "Thank you, both of you, it was thanks to you that we prevailed in the last battle and that I received the second key." Heinmir bowed his head at his two companions. When he looked up at them again he had a serious air about him as he spoke with a stern tone in his voice. "We might have only a few moments before the next battle, we better prepare ourselves the best we can for the next battle will be just as hard if not harder" he sighed deeply and pointed his lance towards Gwen, locking his glowing red eyes directly at her "Don't act so recklessly in the future, we got lucky this time and it would be a waste for you to die again, you have the strongest support spells, use them" Then he turned and pointed his lance at Naum, locking his eyes at her as well. "You have little in the way of support but your attacks pack a lot of power, never ease up on the enemy but don't attack without thought, try to aim at gaps in their defenses were your attacks will do the most damage. I in the meantime will try my best to shield you from harm and disrupt their attempts to go on the offensive as well as chip their armor away for Naum here to finish them off. If you have objections to this you better speak now, we never know when the next battle will start" Edited by Altein, Feb 17 2011, 12:15 PM.

(Group 1) A strange energy drifted off of Yeria's corpse, and the ball of darkness lifted off the ground. Now Voish was visable. Judgement made the path straight and the way clear. Everything else followed the same pattern. The darkness camoflauged the ex-key wielder, but darkness will consume evil. Yeria could feel again, and her vision returned. Her two halves rejoined; though, she could not move around. Her body still needed time to repair; nevertheless, justice moved on its own volition. The powered sphere grew in size, but, in doing so, the surroundings seemed to get sucked in. Black hole? Yeria remained unharmed, yet the tornado folded in and vanished upon contact of the sphere. With unceasing hungry, the attack brought in much of the lower and surrouding terrain. In the mean time, Voish watched from a short distance. He did not bother to run away; his time had come to an end. Moments later, the devious creature succomb to the sheer strength of Yeria's power, and, upon colision, the ball vanished, taking Voish with it. Yeria could still not move. Even so, a platform of darkness kept her from falling into the wide pit below. At this point, the surroundings calmed, for Delfor had changed his attention. Kutask noticed the shift of movement as it occured. The sand above no longer moved around, but the particles surround him become suddenly more lively. His sensitivity gradually faded with the constant shifting dirt. Delfor disappeared from "radar." The intensity around the barrier grew, and pressure surmounted. All of Kutask's progress stopped; he could no longer move around. His barrier would not cut through the sand smoothly anymore, for the dirt seemingly hardened. If he were to make any further distance, the sand needed to be removed or disabled. If Delfor could negate Kutask's earthern abillities, could Kutask do the same to Delfor's? Or would a different use of the barrier pierce the rock? ~~~~~ (Group 2) Jenoth stared blankly at Lag. Now he had his second key, albeit indirectly. She remained silent until Light brought up the name, "Sysh." The polypolar Dragon glanced at Light, back at Lag, then to Light again. "Sysh." The words parroted. "He is..." One hand shifted to her head. "...the way. The guiding darkness." Yeah! the guide, the path, and the direction. Do you remember who you are? "Shut up," Jen spoke sternly to no one in particular. Lag, or more technically his shadow, received a strange tug toward the Dragon. As if a mental download, he realized that something was off with Jenoth; furthermore, while his body drifted towards her and Light, he determined what was wrong. Jenoth was not real. That outer facade was something else, but more than just something. A bright dawn smacked the kitsune across the face. Lag fought that thing before... multiple times. The fire beast from the skies, the massive bird, and that giant conflagration of a skeleton were all the same. And, this "Jenoth" was one of those. In short, the real Jenoth died and remained so. The fake was that "master" the spirits mentioned of. ~~~~~ (Group 3) I am still in your head. The voice popped up in Gwen's mind. And, you need to make a choice. You know sacrifice of self, but you will learn more. Tell me. So, this thing hasn't finished blabbering quite yet. Lovely. Of your two friends, Heinmir and Naum, which would you pick to live? One dies... one lives. Did death even matter, though? Gwen already died. Look what happened. Heinmir and Naum could not notice Gwen's sudden predicament. On the other hand, they quickly came into realization of their own. The cave melted away, and the empty blackness returned. Poor Gwen just left this place, only to be brought back along with her friends. Metals cages surrounded both the living Kitsune and the Durask. The keys suddenly became completely null; although, Heinmir kept his weapon and armor. No power remained with any of the three. So much for Heinmir's new powers. |

Yeria wondered what would happen now. She was kind of a sitting duck and was still kind of confused what just happened. she wondered also how the hell she would get away from here. Would she be able too? It was all up to Kutask now she guessed. She tried to check if she could use her powers to manipulate her surroundings or if she was a sitting duck here. (1) |

(Group 1) The sliver sighs, realizing that for the moment Yeria was safe. That probably wouldn't last long, though. Kutask strengthens his barrier to adamant-hardness to try and regain his thoughts. ...rock...rock is hard. So is my barrier. If that's true, then maybe I can mix them...but try that later, when suffocating isn't a problem. Or could he suffocate? It wasn't worth the risk right now, that was for certain...he hesitates and tries to make a piercing spike appear in his barrier, pointing up from the top. |

"H-HEY! what's going on?!" Heinmir exclaimed when the cave suddenly melt away, covering him in a surrounding darkness that pressed hard on his mind and seemed to slowly drain his sanity away. The darkness he could create on his own was nothing compared to this blackness, this void that assaulted him from every direction. But then, when he focused his eyes on a single spot he saw a small glint of metal, he managed to trace the outlines with his hands and found that he was trapped in a metal cage. He tried to summon the power in his key to break what ever spell that held it together but found that he couldn't draw upon any power, he couldn't even feel the presence of the objects around his neck, he felt drained and weak as if all his strength had left him. Weakly he wrapped his hands around the metal bars that imprisoned him in the crushing darkness. (group 3) Edited by Altein, Feb 28 2011, 11:53 PM.

(Group 2) "Another trial..." The words came out of Light's mouth as a sharp prick. Those trials never progressed positevely for the participants. Jenoth was obviously distracted. Her haze shifted slowly across the bland landscape. What am I thinking? Kill them. N-no. Do you still defy your destiny? That key! Mental state began to deteriorate. Take it. Them all. You'll get what you want. No. That's what you want. I AM you. I order you to attack them. This is your destiny! With no control of her own, Jenoth swayed her arm toward Lag. A torrent of water smashed into Lag, sending him many feet away. Another arm moved at Light, and, in conjunction, a blast of wind threw Light skidding across the ground. "I will have you keys!" Jen yelled loudly. ~~~~~ (Group 3) "I am. To force that choice. Or am I?" The voice put out the riddle. This time all three could hear this voice. "You must choose one to die." This happened with Kutask and Jenoth, didn't it? Now, that happens again. "You will find your purpose." More nonsense. "Heinmir, Naum... should Gwen fail to choose, one of you ought volunteer. If not... then both of your lives will be consumed." What a lovely option. In the darkness, Gwen's senses filled with a mix of emotion. Love and Justice. Truth and Guidance. Confidence and Faith. Purpose and Sacrifice. Since when were all those emotions? The list continued. Of that list, she could not detect any negativity--hate, dishonesty and more. Darkness did not equate to evil. ~~~~~ (Group 1) Despite Kutask's rediculous idea, the spike worked. No, no just worked--the point ripped through the sand better than bullet through a pillow. He progressed nearly to Delfor before another wall stopped him. This time a solid stone sphere stood in Kutask's way. The basic drill will not cut through by itself. In the meantime, the pressure continued to increase. Even with the hardening of his barriers, small cracks began to form. Kutask could feel pain from the damaged barrier. The two were connected, moreso than he and Yeria. The darkness bent at Yeria's command. Mental control. Even if her body could not function, the black could act for her. How could she help Kutask in this situatiom? |

(Group 1) Realizing her thoughts, Kutask tells the strange rodent of lightning, {Try to attack him from behind. Let my senses be yours...} He guides her to feel through his senses, though the feeling is crude - whereas he senses the heat, the pressure, and the texture, she only feels the pressure, and how much. {In the dirt, all is darkness, and your power is darkness, right?} Meanwhile, Kutask focuses on the sphere of rock and tries to force it to break with his will, as well as with his barrier. He's pulling double-duty, but he's confident he can at this point. |

"I can sense your emotion..." Gwen said. "You feel no anger, no guilt, nothing that would complete you. to you this is merely a test of people who were pulled from their destruction to see if they are worthy to live. You have probably never felt pain, never felt guilt, never had to make a moral choice, for without the bad, there is no good." Gwen said. "Without pain and guilt you cannot care, and untill you care about those who you wish to be put to death, or until they give you the right to choose their path, you have no right to choose their path. no one should decide whether another lives or dies unless they are not capable of that choice, or they trust them enough to put that choice to them." "Gwen!" Heinmir exclaimed, gripping the bars tighter in his clenched fists. "Stop spouting that nonsense! Chose me! It is better if I die, flames represent life and vigor while metal is already dead as stone. Killing me won't change anything, but killing Naum would affect us so much more. Please! just chose me, steel yourself and do what has to be done, because, if you can't then everything you have fought for will be for naught" He rattled the bars as hard as he could but couldn't even shift them in the slightest. More memories flashed in his mind, memories of his father and uncle, mother and sister and lastly his beloved Simeira. The memories calmed him and soothed his panic struck mind, he felt content with what he had said, he knew that it was only right for him to sacrifice himself to save another life, all that remained was for Gwen to realize the same thing he had. |

Lag shadow materialized beside him and grabbed him before Lag landed badly on the ground. "Why am I always right... I knew that you were not youself Jenoth!" He said as he tried to stand up but he couldn't. "You rest now. This is the perfect time to test out my new... His shadow said as fire lit his hands. "powers" He said as he charged towards Jenoth and delivered a punch barrage against her, flames on his hand and all. group2 |

(2) "Ah!" Light fell back and skidded across the ground hard before coming to a stop and sitting up with a panicked look on his face "H-Hey! What are you doing?!" he cried out to Jenoth, too startled to react with fighting. He continued to sit on the ground, watching Shadow Lag deliver a barrage of punches with a look of confusion on his face. "Stop it! Why are we fighting?!" he called out. |

Yeria Tried to locate his foe by actually using the shadows that everything cast. Trying her best to stretch her mind outwards to locate the foe so she could help her teammate. But she noticed that she actually already could locate him thanks to said teammate so she struck immediately trying to constrict him with shadowy tendrils. Or if that failed just impale him. She also tried to move her body to check if it actually needed more time to repair itself (1) Edited by Fiskpinne, Mar 5 2011, 07:58 PM.

(( Group Three )) Naum didn't seem to be able to say anything, as she blinked a few times. "Oh crap. . . I don't want to die. . ." she mutters, looking quite sad, seeming to draw into herself as she curls up into the fetal position. |

(Group 2) "I am not Jenoth." The dragon corrected Lag, before getting pelted by the barrage of punches. Four attacks hit directly. The fire seared and eat away at scales. "Jenoth" grabbed Shadow's wrist at the fifth strike, pulled him forward, spun around in the air, and kicked Shadow to the ground. A large chain of water built around her hands. Before long the water crystallized into a hefty ice spear. Light quickly recognized the weapon as one he had made previously. A heave. The weapon quickly descended toward Shadow Lag. If not enough, a torrent of wind pinned him to the ground. Without aid, he could not move out of the way... his only option was to take the spear head-on. ~~~~~ (Group 1) Yeria could not push her body anywhere. After getting split in half, it would need a measure of time to repair. Even so, her dark tendrils eat away plenty into the sphere. The earth rebuilt itself at the rate of consumption. Kutask's barrier showed more signs of cracks. No amount of reinforcement could counter the immense power. Cracks grew and pain built. Strangely, Kutask's skin began to open up. Blood spilled out. Finally, Yeria's darkness latched onto the earthen sphere and started a damage. The damage made no difference. Or did it? Suddenly, the drilling barrier made progress; the sphere rebuilt itself around Kutask's energy shield. Slow, slow. Time began to run out. Cracks shrouded the entire defense, causing further pain to the sliver, so blood spilled out faster. Then a jolt forward. The attack reached the inside of sphere. Immediately, the dark tendrils took advantage of the new hole, ripping out the sphere from the inside out. Without anymore protection, Delfor instantly got devoured by Yeria's attack. Too late. The barrier utterly shattered. The glass-like shards collapsed inward, dicing Kutask into many pieces. His very own protection ended up as his demise, and so the his and Yeria's minds split utterly. Kutask jolted awake in a new place. His heart raced, as if he had just woken from a nightmare--a horrible dream. His mind drifted around, but he could not see or hear or feel. The memory of the barrier getting crushed flipped through his memory, and he quickly came to the conclusion that he had died suddenly. Yeria faced a different scenario all-together. The battle was won... or was it? "Congratulations for the victory," a nearby person spoke. A blurry creature walked on the air, circling Yeria with purpose. "I hope you are not disappointed, but you do not get another key out of that one. You just fought your previous selves... and conquered them." ~~~~~ (Group 3) "Correct." The voice actually agreed with her. "I am not complete, for I am merely a ghost. This can only be counted as a test because I exist for that purpose." This person did not truly own life, it seemed. "I can't feel, period." Then what are those emotions this "thing" consists? The being is... there--mere existence. "Although, to your misfortune, none of you had a choice in life or death. Did any of you choose survive the war--the end? You are right. I picked you, Gwen, to survive because you had no capability to choose." Why? "Thousands of people died so that you might live. Now one must die for the other. I had to choose of those, and your turn has come for these." Why? What was the point of this confrontation? "Do you understand?" |

(2) "No!" Light screamed and reached his arm toward the spear. He called upon his powers to shatter the icy weapon apart as it fell, too panicked to think of another option and positive that his intervention would at least stop the full force of the weapon from following through. The spear broke apart into hundreds of tiny shards that fell harmlessly across Shadow Lag's body. "You're not Jenoth?!" Light shouted, standing up "Who are you! Why did you take her form?!" he paused, suddenly looking bewildered as he realized something "Why... did you help us?" Edited by Acclue Lockheart, Mar 7 2011, 07:57 PM.

Give the PCs plenty of problems, but give them a free hand in how they try to solve them. Use "yes, and", or "yes, but," or "roll the dice." But try to avoid "No." -- The Wyzard, dispensing valuable DM advice In the vein of MtG "What Color Are You" quizzes.

"You sound like me before i came here." She said angrilly. "Toying with the lives of others just because i could. Except i see no reason that drives you, mine was revenge and i became something i now hate because of it." She said. "I lived my days hellbent on destroying the kingdom that destroyed my family, and to what end? nothing, it was all for naught because the moment years of work came to a peak and the final spell fired, the dimensions shattered. Now i know of pain, now i know what i was doing wrong." Gwen said. "yet here i stand being forced to choose which one of the two people i have managed to protect thus far dies, after i sacrificed myself once... you want to know what keeps me going now? well here is your answer. I keep going to end things like you that think they can toy with the lives of people like pieces on a chessboard." Gwen said, concentrating on a dark energy spell. "When you surf with sharks you may not get bitten... but don't act like it was an unforeseen tragedy when you do." Interpretation may be the father of all beliefs, but Assumption is the mother of all fuckups. I should know, I'm a prime example... "In life we get to pick our poisons, may as well pick the fun one." "The mechanic of the sequence; the power to progress, We have no time to waste; no time to relax, The passion of beginning; it's the pleasure of the end, It's watching things we initiate to a state we never meant." ~chorus from Mechanic of the Sequence by Neuroticfish. | |

Heinmir slammed his fists against the bars that separated him from the others, he slammed them again and again against them in frustration. "Gwen! what are you doing?! Just chose me and save Naum from a pointless death! They put an ultimatum on you Gwen! Don't throw this away, only one of us has to die to save the other and the one who is to die is me. And if you don't chose me then I will convince whoever is controlling this to kill me instead of Naum" He rammed the bars with his forehead and gritted his teeth, he was angry. He was angry at the one who forced Gwen to do this, he was angry at the fact that one of them had to die but he was most angry at himself for failing in his task to protect them from this. Sacrificing himself was the least he could do to make up for his mistake and save the life of his comrade. "Please Gwen, just pick me, don't try anything else, just pick me and save Naum" Heinmir spoke lowly in a pleading tone, he begged silently to what ever god that might be listening to him at the moment that Gwen would see that the best option was to kill Heinmir.
