Naum threw a couple more bright fireballs at the creature's face, but heated up the air behind the dragon-thing again, before moving it forward to sear the skin and scales itself off of it, hot enough to make it burn, hot enough to melt metal near the center. (Group one) |

"Aaaarrgh!" Heinmir yelled in pain as the water started to tighten painfully around him, slowly crushing him. He was doomed if he didn't think of a plan, and that was quick. He couldn't control the water that crushed him, nor would it do much good to control the water around him in an attempt to counter it's effect. He looked around the blank environment to see if anything could be used to his advantage. At first he saw nothing but then he saw exactly what he needed, his sword that Naum was carrying, but the sword was not important, it was the flames that spewed from it. This is gonna hurt badly he thought and reached out with his mind, grabbing a part of the flames and wrestling control over them, bending it to his own will. He created his own ring of fire and placed it over the crushing ring of water, heating it up slowly, he needed to work faster! The armor he wore started to creak and bend, pushing painfully into his sides and chest. With pure will he intensified the flames, making them burn hotter and turn blue. The water grew ever hotter, and so did his armor that started to sear on his clothes and flesh. Smoke rose from him, both from the vaporised water and from his own skin. The pressure on his body disappeared and Heinmir instantly moved his flames to burn around him in a protective shell, vaporising any water that laid near him while he recovered. (group 1) |

Lag could not free himself from the bone hands. He looked as the earth crumbled. He was thinking how screwed he was. "Lag my boy... You can't yourself from some boney hands. You must be weaker!" Lags shadow said as he smiled back at the real Lag. "Shut up!" He said as he summoned a tornado, slashing the bones hands. Using the same tornado he glided towards Light and said "Hop on to my back!" Gwen concentrated on the compressed air, and created a shell between her and the water of plauged air as she started to convert the air the dragon was using against her to plagued air, adding its energy to a spell she was preparing. (1) Edited by Kuro, Oct 26 2010, 09:59 PM.

(Group 3) Again, Yeria dodged the ripple. They were no where need fast enough to hit the dodging Yeria. On the other hand, a sitting Kutask was an easy target. The wave crashed right into the tree he was sitting in. In a flash, the entire tree was uprooted and falling to the ground. The power of the impact threw Kutask out of the branches and into the ground. He skided several feet before stopping. "I attack because I am. It's my divine right!" A large, clear barriers extended from the four cracks. They reached sky-high. As a result, Yeria was cornered by two of them, and two blocked Yeria and Kutask from each other. They were isolated now. The angel stepped forward quickly. It crossed the barrier and entered the area which Yeria resided. She had but two directions to go in--towards the angel or away from it. "Now you will feel my divine wrath." The being growled lowly, clenching its fists tightly. ~~~~~ (Group 2) Moments after Lag jumped into the air, the ground around the ledges collapsed into the rising lava. Once that happened, a large complex of tangled bones and skulls became revealed. Two tubes on the side drilbbled lava into the expanding pool below. Now, the lava was rising fast; furthermore, the bones drifted farther from the siding. Although, instead of surrounding Light and Lag... they seemed to meet together at the center. As the bones clamped together, the two key-wielders noted a definate form to the being. When all the bones finally combined, the skeleton of a massive lizard stood in the pool of lava. On the head were two massive horns, in the mouth deadly teeth, and on its feet sharp claws. "HOW DO YOU LIKE THIS!!!" The monster roared insanely loud. The yell drew blood from Lag's ears, causing insane pain. Light merely went deaf. ~~~~~ (Group 1) Gwen slowly pushed back the compressed air. Although, she had to push incredibly hard to continue. The dragon was not letting up. Heinmir experienced similar issues. The water took longer than he had expected to evaporate. Nonetheless, the distraction worked. Naum's well-placed fire balls smashed into one of its eyes. The dragon recoiled backwards, holding the injured eye. The massive heat wave colided and surrounded the beast quickly. "RAAAAAHHHH!!!" The beast screamed in pain. Steam lifted up from its feathers and the feather themselves shriveled and burned. In a desperate attempt, the monster summoned a massive torrent of water upon itself. Most of the water turned to steam, but Naum's heat wave was stopped. At this point, Heinmir had released himself from the water. With no controller, the water could not stop itself from evaportating. As for Gwen, the double helix ceased and the water fell to the ground harmlessly. Although, the built-up wind remained. Once the steam lifted from off the monster, the three got a clear sight of what they had done. Nearly all of the feathers had been burnt off, revealing scales; however, many of those scales were melted. One eye was completely destroyed, the other was damaged. The only thing that remained intact was those claws. In retaliation, the creature shot a large wave at Naum and a burst of wind at Heinmir. But, the time it turned to attack Gwen, no attack came. Unlike the creatures before, this being could run out of magic. The power of wind and water that Gwen had originally felt vanished. None of it was left. "Impossible..." Even the two attacks that were sent did not pose much threat. The wave hit Naum, but didn't even hurt upon impact. The wind was more like a stiff breeze. The best they accomplished was dousing Naum's flaming sword. |

Gwen activated her spell and a lance of plauged wind, sharp and as poweful as any metal spear, shot for the dragon through the compressed air, at the same time the built up energy tore the compressed air apart using the hole the lance created. when the lance was near the dragon it split into many thinner tendrils, which spread out then turned back towards the dragon. Lag felt his ears explode. "ARRRRRGGG!!" He screamed as he almost let go of the tornado. The shadow smiled and said "Feeling dizzy are we? Why don't..." He said as the shadow crept through Lag's body, like a parasite. "Let me take over?" The shadow was coating all of Lag's body, painting black everything he had. The staff changed too. Shadow Lag looked over the bone skeleton and smiled. "So... You like fire? How about some... WIND FIRE!" He said as he cast some fatio fire and combined it with a tornado, creating a blue tornado that rushed against the skeleton. Group 2 |

Heinmir noticed how weakened the dragon was and using the moment of Gwen's massive attack he also shifted to the offense. The weak gust of wind sent towards him by the dragon was snatched up by Heinmir and weaved into a rotating double helix around his left arm. The water that laid around Gwen's feet he also took control over and quickly dragged it over to himself and let it crawl up over his right arm and cover it. "You fought well but it's over now. I'll blast your bones to the freezing pits of Nezzerith!" Heinmir yelled just as he lifted his right arm and shot the water towards the dragon in a cone shaped spray. "Nezzerith's tears!" He yelled and clenched his left fist tightly, pulling it back and throwing it out again in a strong left cross. The wind leaped from his arm in the form of a cyclone that enveloped the water spray, pushing the water forward to make it go even faster than before. The water turned into long and sharp icicles, each long as a spear and with enough force behind them to pierce the dragons hide and go deep into it's body. Hundreds of them flew towards the dragon and with the large area they covered it was impossible to dodge it entirely. (group 1) |

Naum saw these attacks, and sent a small wave of heat at the dragon, the only indication of the attack was a small area of shimmering air closing on the dragon's face with terrible speed. While she did that, the flames on the sword flared up again, and slowly spread into a shield that she could see through, but would surely create immense pain if this. . . monster tried to strike. If not cause quite horrific burns along the way. Wait. . . its running out of magic. It isn't running off of a key. (Group one) Edited by The Enemy, Oct 27 2010, 04:33 PM.

(Group 3) The angel stopped and smiled widely. "I already told you. I am. I have the divine right to rid this universe of scum like you." Those words dug into Yeria's skin more than a drill. Who had the right to call her scum? She was trying her best. What could that being expect from her, what in God's name would it know? "I will end your pathetic existence... and you can't stop me." The angel lifted its shield-wielding arm and tossed the shield at Yeria's shadow armor. Like a saw blade, the shield began to cut through her shadows... steam rose from the contact and pain crawled into her head. That shield was holy, her barrier was dark. If she did not do something, the shield would cut through her own... Kutask could only watch helplessly. The "scent" of the two keys still hung in the air. He had to do something... the memory Jenoth flashed through his mind. Would it happen again? ~~~~~ (Group 2) "Idiot." The skelly lizard growled. The flaming tornado stopped in mid-air. In an instant, it turned back at Lag and rushed towards him. Despite the wind element, he could not stop the tornado... avoiding became impossible as the tornado tracked Lag. Water was the only solution... on the other hand, Shadow Lag realized an important fact. He was going to have to act without fire... ~~~~~ (Group 1) As the three threw their attacks, Heinmir detected a strange sensation. His guiding arms shifted slightly. As he did, he noticed a strongly confident face on the dragon creature. When his arms shifted, though, his attack collided with Naum's... his gut told him that this was a good idea. He trusted the action... even if involuntarily. Suddenly, his whirlwind burst into flames. The ice exploded into steam... as the progress occured... the dragon's confident face vanished. It didn't seem to notice Gwen's attack yet. Although, Gwen sensed fear emanating from the beast. It lifted its arms, to try and stop Heinmir's attack... but, because of the combined fire element, it could not stop the attack. Gwen's attack, in the meantime, latched onto the monster with its smaller tendrils. Dozens of these tendrils tore up the rear skin and wings of the dragon. "AHH!" It cringed. The Heinmir-Naum attack crashed into the beast while it cringed. Pieces of intact ice impacted, wind pushed, fire seared, and steam blinded. A loud shrieked sounded from the monster... the vision of which now blocked by steam. While Heinmir dealt with his strange trust of events and Gwen sensed the fear fade away into death, Naum made a total different evaluation. In her eyes, a trapped dragon hanging by many chains remained. Lies held the dragon in place. Those other monsters trapped her... and she need the truth to set her free. Naum realized her surroundings were different now. Heinmir and Gwen were gone--though they could see the anthromorph. Instead of the empty whiteness, clouded darkness covered the areas. Where the monster was destroyed, Naum saw the dragon. Jenoth? Hundreds of chains imprisoned the poor thing... the dark mist prevented clear sight. The only light was Naum herself. Truth was light... lies darkness. This was not the same darkness that Heinmir shined. Heinmir's was not innately evil... but this darkness... A severe disgust sank into Naum's stomach. That darkness needed to be destroyed--killed... utterly and completely exterminated. Jenoth tiredly opened her eyes. She eyed Naum... "Who... are you?" Her voice was weak. Back with Heinmir and Gwen... the two were experiences their own mysteries. Gwen knew emotion. It was obvious to her... it was tangible--physical. And, pain streamed from that mist, but this pain did not come from that monster. It was something inside. Someone. The other, Heinmir, felt odd. He felt safe... he trusted. But what, but who? Either way, he felt his heart and soul telling him to fight. To attack. Why, he knew not. The battle was not over, even if his senses gave no proof of that. (Group 3) Kutask forces himself to connect to Yeria's mind again, just like with Jenoth. It helped her survive a bit longer...maybe her agility...his healing... The connection works, and they can work together now - assuming they can get back together. He feels a lot of knowledge of her species flood his mind - including her elemental powers. But he also feels she is in pain...and that she should be dead...either way, he wants nothing more than to protect her right now. Wait. Those...keys. Maybe... {I will be right back,} he tells her. {I promise.} He begins to try and find where the keys' "scents" are coming from. Edited by Machaeus, Oct 31 2010, 08:43 PM.

(2) This isn't where it ends. Light declared in his head, the unfamiliar serenity he had felt in parts of the fight with the skeletal creature earlier. He let out a silent shout, at least to himself, and held a hand out, gathering the vapor right out of the air into a large wall of water right in front of the tornado, then let it fall down forcefully to the lava. He called out, hoping his words came out right since he couldn't hear himself "You aren't supposed to kill us! I know that already!" He hoped that it would somehow draw them to stop. Heinmir panted softly as the dragon screamed in pain and defeat, nothing could have taken those attacks and lived to fight them anymore. But something inside Heinmir told him that it was not over and that he needed to finish the job. "It is not over yet..." Heinmir murmured as he summoned two swords into his hands and strode towards the dragon, eye constantly looking around the pale white environment. The wounds received from the dragon's attacks still hurt and he would probably not be able to move without the help of the keys regenerative abilities. He strode towards the dragon with one purpose in mind, to sever it's head from it's body. (Group 1) |

(Group 3) The "holy" being lifted a hand casually. "Fool." Yeria's lightning bolt crashed into an invisible wall two feet in front of her opponent. With a sway of his other hand, a disc formed and launched forward. As it flew, metal blades formed on the edges of it. Acting a saw blade, the bladed disc hit Yeria's shadow armor. The metal pieces vaporized quickly, but not before cutting through the armor and slicing through the substitute. The angel motioned as if pulling back and shifted the direction of the disc to Yeria. With another smooth motion, the creature gripped the air again and pulled down, the ground beneath Yeria suddenly dropped over ten feet. As she fell, glass-like spikes formed at the bottom of the pit. The disc continued to fly at her. While Yeria fought her battle, Kutask continued his search. Although, the "scent" was incredibly faint. After a few minutes, he gained no progress. Currently, the only sources of power were Yeria and... the angel. Yeria was present before, and Kutask did not sense the keys before. The only thing new was that creature. One question remained. How was he supposed to get to the angel? ~~~~~ (Group 2) Light's water did cool off a portion of the lava, but more took that its place. The lava was still rising... and the pace accelerated. The room was flooded to half. With Lag's added knowledge, he calculated their remaining time easily. Three minutes. Three minutes to beat a giant monster with no knowledge of its weaknesses. And, to fight deaf. Light's hearing slowly came back, but not fast enough. Lag's was pratically gone for the rest of the battle. As Shadow Lag spoke, he realized that he still could not hear. Despite consuming Lag's body, the damage was more than could be repaired--at least in a short time. So, rising lava, giant skeleton lizard, and no hearing--that pretty much summarized their situation. And then the monster decided to attack. The Lizard reached out with one (massive) hand and swiped at Shadow Lag and Light. But, as the hand came down, fire flew directly at them. Shadow Lag could only hope to dodge the hand, not the fire. Light could only hope to stop the fire, not the hand. Regardless of the attacks, they would need to think incredibly fast to communicate in some form and then attack together. ~~~~~ (Group 1) As the steam cleared from Heinmir's and Gwen's view, a ragged, bleeding, burned creature stepped forward. Heavy breathing escaped its mouth. "I... won't... lose!" The dragon had neither eye, both wings were useless, and its entire body damaged. It was a wonder this thing could live, let alone speak. As the creature stumbled foward, Gwen could sense immense pain and sorrow flooding the monster's body. However, she had already seen this creature injured before, and, at those times, this did not happen. These were not emotions of some disgusting, distasteful beast. They were of a person. Someone was inside that thing. Whoever the person may be, he was in severe agony. Heinmir may feel any number of emotions towards the pitiful creature; however, he knew that he had to kill it. None of his feelings seemed to matter at this point. He knew what was right. Losing was not an option. The dragon stumbled towards the two key-wielders. "I will... kill you!" A face of determination brewed on its face. Despite the blindness, it could tell where Heinmir and Gwen stood. "Nore-Kesh-Sre!" Heinmir quickly recognized the last name. That was the spirit. The ground instantly shook violently. As it did, Gwen noticed an immense build up of artificial emotions. The white ground in front of the beast suddenly lifted dozens of feet into the air. In a matter of moments, that wall became a tidal wave of water, rushing towards the two. Heinmir detected weapons--the same kind he makes--flying directly at him. Dozens daggers flew at Heinmir... but a metal cage landed on Gwen, trapping her. A bird cage? Heinmir could hear the words echoed in his ear, Look familiar?. The shaking grouned prevented Heinmir from moving far. He could have to take the daggers and the water head-on. Gwen would have to escape the cage quickly, but her wind didn't appear to be strong enough to lift or break the cage. Any lightning was grounded. Whatever she did, it would have to be inside the cage. Meanwhile, Naum continued her communication with the chained dragon. "Break free? Break free from... what?" The dragon looked around weakly and saw nothing. Naum was probably the only to see them. In that case, then those chains weren't physical. If she could see the truth easily, then could she also see the untruth? "Your name is Naum... I don't have a name... I wish I had a name." The first lie. "Oh... and... why would I want to break free?" That pretty much contradicted the being's original statement. "This place is great..." The second lie. The time came to break some chains manually. |

(Group 3) Kutask realizes his options are slim, at best, and hopes his healing will repair broken bones faster than he can break them. He runs away from the wall, then charges it, headbutting it with his full (and not exactly considerable) weight. Edited by Machaeus, Nov 8 2010, 02:27 AM.

Give the PCs plenty of problems, but give them a free hand in how they try to solve them. Use "yes, and", or "yes, but," or "roll the dice." But try to avoid "No." -- The Wyzard, dispensing valuable DM advice In the vein of MtG "What Color Are You" quizzes.

Gwen growled and yelled out "KA-TATHANAE-SI-KATHENATH!" and Henmir could feel a buildup of power around her before the energy exploded fourth sending a huge wave of plagued wind mixed with dark energy at the wall of water. Henmir could see a black colored mist hanging around Gwen as well as the fact that here eyes were coal black. |

"When you surf with sharks you may not get bitten... but don't act like it was an unforeseen tragedy when you do." Interpretation may be the father of all beliefs, but Assumption is the mother of all fuckups. I should know, I'm a prime example... "In life we get to pick our poisons, may as well pick the fun one." "The mechanic of the sequence; the power to progress, We have no time to waste; no time to relax, The passion of beginning; it's the pleasure of the end, It's watching things we initiate to a state we never meant." ~chorus from Mechanic of the Sequence by Neuroticfish. | |

Heinmir glanced quickly at Gwen when he felt a sudden burst of power coming from her direction. She was still trapped in the cage and obscured by a black mist, hopefully it would protect her from the water. He then snapped his attention to the water wall and the many dozens of daggers that flew towards him. "My weapons?" He exclaimed as he summoned a new weapon in front of him. It looked like a large tower shield but it was composed of many swords, axes and war hammers, sharp edges jutted out from everywhere on this so called shield. He planted the shield in front of him and hid behind it, fully covered and safe from the flying daggers. But he still had all that water to worry about and he didn't have much time to come up with a plan but something formed inside his head, a solution. With a quick swipe of his free arm he created wind which he grabbed with his power and started to pour a massive amount of the keys energy into it, this would probably be his last blast of magic in a while. A dozen of loud clangs erupted from the other side of his shield as the daggers hit it and bounced harmlessly off it. From the cold steel he was surrounded with he added cold to the wind and then waited for the right moment, charging his spell while waiting. As the wave started to fall down towards him he released his spell. A massive torrent of wind hit the water that was just above him. The winds pushed the surface back and parted that section from the rest of the tidal wave as it started to freeze over from the arctic wind Heinmir had thrown at it. Still the water fell towards him, freezing over slowly and it looked like this would be the end of him, crushed by a half frozen body of water. [Is this the end? Am I to die here?[/I] he thought as the body of water and ice plummeted towards him. The shadow grew over him, becoming darker by the second and just about halfway down his section started to slow down in it's descent, coming towards him slower and slower as the ice took more hold of it, rooting it to the ground further ahead of him. The air was filled with the heavy sound of thick ice creaking under a heavy strain and just as the ice above him stopped, so did the screams from the ice. Panting heavily Heinmir stared at the huge wave of ice frozen just above him. He could reach it if he just lifted his arm towards it, that close had he been to death and that was way to close for him to be comfortable. He collapsed down onto his knees, his legs suddenly weak and out of strength. His vision was blurry and his head started to hurt like he had been hit by a rock. Groaning he grabbed his head with both hands, letting his new weapon shield clatter loudly into the ground. (group 1) |

(2) Light reached down and summoned a floor of water beneath them, now realizing how easily he can perform his newfound 'magic' in an effort to block the fire from coming up, but he knew he was just stalling for time. He had no idea how he was supposed to fend off this creature now, it was all happening so fast. Panic won't help he suddenly thought, closing his eyes for a second Stay calm... you can figure this out. "What if we combine our powers?" he said calmly to Lag, not really expecting a verbal answer back with the state of his hearing "Wind and water to cool the magma." |
