ACA Profile - Mysti Felina
Name: Mysti Felina Age: 22 Sex: Female Race: Human with Kitty Genetic Splicing Personality: Shy but fun when you get to know her; loves shopping Biography: Mysti moved in from the big city. She was genetically spliced in an accident when she was walking by a science building during college. Some careless janitor knocked a vial of cat DNA out of the window and the vial broke on her head causing the potent contents to seep into the wound. As a result, she ended up with cat ears and tail that pop up when she is in danger and has great agility and gymnastic capabilities. She owns a white kitten named Snowball and a pair of Husky puppies named Shadow and Seely. Mysti Felina ended up with a small fortune, due to the accident. A lawsuit resulted for all the medical expenses that were incurred for testing, therapy, and such. She doesn't regret the accident though, 'cuz it's allowed her to see things through the eyes of her animal friends. Mysti has a part-time job and has quite an extravagant wardrobe. Now that I think about it and lest this is one mouth I'm totally not for it defeats the Idea having a forum and if you guys want a brake just don't come to the site down taking it down for moths at a time is silly I am very active so is bunny and I like coming on everyday and posting if others don't then don't have a forum plan and simple I mean really this is just stupid.

I think we should have the site up during summer and winter. I know that I stop coming onto the site when my school year gets busy, so maybe we should work around the average college school semester (Due to the large amount of people at that age?)
October or November, April or May?

@Link - I think I explained it already that if only one person takes a break, they come back and other people take a break, which ends up with the site always being in a perpetual state of being "tired". The person who took the break comes back refreshed, and the person who had stayed, goes to take a break...so, when will these people ever be online at the same time to carry on enthusiastic activity?
@Spiff - So, you're proposing a seasonal break? So, when school's on, vip's off o.o am I getting it right? o.o

Yes it does help people rest but it also puts activity at stand still so most of old topics that were made before the blackout die for a longtime. This is not how an forum is meant to run. Also you can never please everyone if some wants to fight they will. Lastly my Idea is this just let people get warned like they use to you can not create a utopia and also I think vip needs more staff members and that will solve some of the issues because you don't have just one person to go to when you need something done. Also how about this for site activity we all teach each other about something that we like. That way were having fun like we use to.

The blackouts are meant to put things at a standstill so that people can take a step back and breathe and take care of IRL things...It also stimulates their minds to come back fresh and renewed. When everyone is refreshed, they post more and are generally in a better overall mood.
We are not such a huge forum that there will be refreshed people to bring up new topics all the time. We are a small clique of people who interact with each other and have, over time, grown accustomed to each other. If we are together and posting things every day, don't you think we would eventually run out of things to say and end up letting the site die?
Also, the topic was closed, because you and Crimson had resolved the issue through IM. Crimson had even said that the issue was settled. Are you seriously telling me that you want that topic up so that you can read it and boil in your own negative feelings--leading to a chain reaction of other negative topics? It's bad energy...
My duty as staff is to prevent flame wars to the best of my abilities...and I honestly saw that topic staying up as a ticking time bomb.
Additionally, if you would like to propose things to bring up activity, please do so in a different topic, but I do appreciate you indirectly pointing out that the site needs to promote activity.

I like this idea in theory but I fear that the forum needs momentum to maintain itself, Lets say an intense rpg is going and then suddenly you take a month break, under all but the most special circumstances, that rpg is now dead and lost all its plot momentum, maybe forever.
active topics are no longer active, in other words nearly every time we come back it's like you just brought VIP back again and we have to create all new content, or at least preform mass thread necromancy.
I think this project demands that we set out goals for ourselves and return with things to discuss, possibly with a hub to communicate about them. in other words we need projects to go over with one another. to get better at drawing, learn calligraphy, to learn an instrument, to master a new form of divination, run a youtube channel, etc. Sometimes we do have life to keep us busy, but its best that we encourage each other not to 'change the channel' and just play computer games or go to another forum for a month.

in a nutshell this is why we use the blackout months to motivate positive and life affirming change in ourselves.

I actually do agree with this, within the current framework of the site this is workable, but I fear we can't run the site long-term without mods to monitor user activity, we don't want you to have to worry that there will be a flamewar every time you left for a few hours. Of course we also don't want to bring anyone out of retirement, so we understand that finding a staff member could prove difficult.

@Sora - For the benefit of everyone as a whole and to keep positive energy with the site, topics where things get heated like that will only serve to hinder other people's experience here. It creates that awkward silence type of thing, but since it's there for everyone to see, that awkward silence will stick around for as long as they can see that negative energy. They might even become prejudiced against the members who were involved despite there being a long time after that exchange had taken place.
@Twi - I do agree that we need to build momentum, but are we at that stage where we can? Our interests seem very diverse, and we're still in search of our own identity as a community. Maybe it could be a temporary thing 'til we find our uniting factor o.o Thoughts? o.o
Also, I am willing to expand the staff AS NEEDED. And, we don't need it right now o.o  You've seen how fast i respond to things o.o Additionally, I don't worry that you're all going to burn the site to the ground while I'm away for a couple hrs o.o I trust you guys and gals o.o and I know that you're human and you have different opinions too o.o but we've stuck around together this long...there's got to be something in us that's crazy enough to want the best for the site strongly enough that we would stop when we sense that enough's enough o.o

When I say momentum, I simply mean post rhythm, in a way you could say posting begets posting, you can see posting rhythm on a micro scale by merely looking at the Pony thread, 2 members are responding, joking, playing around. is a deep discussion? heck no, there's more pictures and videos than words in that thread, but you can at least see the way two people can play off each other. if the rhythm is disrupted, it could die out (think of how the pub struggled getting back its popularity after we moved it)
Personally my opinion is that VIP is schizophrenic, in the very best possible sense of the word. We will never succeed as a single topic site again, I just don't see it happening, that's why we need to turn the negatives of this into a positive. Exactly as I said in Sora's site topic poll, we should use VIP as a banner, brand and hub for user generated content, that's to say, we collectively create, art, videos, music. we tell fortunes we do calligraphy. We review, we create we share. Sort of like Thatguywiththeglasses.com (although not everything necessarily needs to be a review) that way or different tastes are not our weak point, but our strength,
if our content is quality then people will come, to join the community, to see what we offer. that is my vision for VIP ^_^
