You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.

Oh man, we used to have a bunch of chickens, but we';d try to avoid having more than one rooster at a time.

And they can be pretty hostile, but they are good at sensing fear, so if you run, they'll chase you. If you chase them, they can get pretty skittish. One thing I really liked about raising chickens and ducks as a kid was just observing them. They are like any other animal, and have very distinct personalities :) Some are really tame and you can just pick them up, which is pretty cute.

Interesting o.o Also, I imagine the fear thing is what's reflected in your body language o.o My uncle had a pet duck and pet turtles, but I only got to see them once. Then, I heard that they had died :( Such irresponsibility in taking care of them :(
On a more educational note, what's the interaction like between the grown chickens and the rooster? o.o does he like herd them or something? o.o How does the rooster treat the baby chicks? o.o

I don't think I ever knew anybody with pet turtles....would be neat though I'm sure!

Nah, he doesn't really herd them, but you'll see him cock his head to the side and look up and watch any birds that are flying around, probably watching for hawks or some other predator. Also, if he comes across some food (We let ours roam free most of the time), he'll start clucking loudly and the hens would come running over to eat. Guess he's just taking care of his ladies ^.^

And we never really let the chicks stay with the mothers out there because of the way the nest boxes were that we had, she'd have to leave them to go get food or water, so we would take them inside and have them in boxes with a lamp over them to stay warm. It's cute how they learned to think of you as their mother, and then when they were old enough, get them settled back in with the rest. As far as the rooster interacting....I don't think they usually have a direct role in upbringing. The mothers probably wouldn't let them even get close lol.

On a side note, we raised ducks too, but they were ducks traditionally bred for meat, so the sitting on eggs instinct was kinda lost, so we would put duck eggs under the chickens to hatch. Fun stuff

I wouldn't call it a farm, but I grew up in the country. We pretty much just raised chickens and ducks for eggs, but we had a pretty good sized garden as well, though nothing more than vegetables for us and surrounding family.

This was just my childhood experiences I guess, but it taught me some responsibility early on, which I am very thankful for.

My turtles are actually scared of u if you handle them o.o They hide in their shell when you pick them up o.o or they try to get out of your grip o.o (sharp nails ) but there's a way to hold them where they can't get out o.o. The only reason my bro was bitten was 'cuz he was holding a tiny piece of food and his hand was too close to the turtle o.o so when it did the usual snapping to bite the food, it accidentally got my bro's finger o.o They also do a headbutting move o.o where they tuck their head into their shell and launch themselves at their target O.O fun to watch o.o
