Update: Still think it's accidental, as both Anya and Lynn crush on the same guy. Still, so did Sam and Mandy and that never stopped us. But, and this is important, Lynn yanks Anya pants off in the comic. Yeah, Anya's wearing a leotard and it's gymnastics practice, but at the same time...is dat some potential yuri? Some...creepy...these characters are 14 yuri? Dammit. Now I feel like Chris Hansen needs to visit me. |

1. I'd probably go with the Vaugn volumes. They were the popular ones that got all those awards including one from some gay science fiction group. The Terry Moore one was made afterwords and seemss to have gotten complaints by fans for it being turned into watered down, commercialized tripe that from what I can discern seems to be de-yurified as well. Note, I haven't read this series, it's just known as the only Marvel comic with yuri where the writers weren't castarted two seconds after introducing said lesbian themes. I think the last time Marvel even tried an out of the closet storyline before this it ended up with MF Doom's favorite comic book being canceled because Marvel has been a bunch of homophobic bastards afraid of Ronald Reagen, Newt Gingrich, and the Nazi Comics Code Authority for a lot of their history. (Note, MF Doom's favorite comic book is Alpha Flight :lmao:). I wouldn't be quick to label a group like Marvel homophobic it it wasn't well known they had an official rule that said, "There are no homosexuals in the Marvel universe." True story. I think this changed though after they got enough balls to tell the Comics Code Authority to go fuck themselves. Post Comics Code characters that come to mind that prove this are the Rawhide Kid, Shatterstar, and the Young Avengers. Although, I would still like to see more of this in their bigger titles. 2. It's a tricky thing to decipher. Sometimes they make it seem ambiguous on purpose so they can get away with it without having to deal with a dumbass editor ala Christ Claremont with much of his X-books. Sometimes people just make the themes ambiguous as a creative decision. Although you could've just remembered it being more yuri than it actually was. I've done that may once or twice. XD |
