All this time, people been telling me that CN Real's ratings blow.

Either they don't blow, or someone at CN is determined not to let his terrible experiment die.
And that someone is this guy, Stuart Snyder:

And now the (abridged) copypasta:
Snyder to Head New Turner Unit
GameTap Senior VP/GM to Lead Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media Group
By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 5/2/2007 9:56:00 AM EDT

Turner Broadcasting System named Stuart Snyder to lead its new unit housing cable networks, digital properties and other entertainment entities reaching kids and young adults.

Snyder -- who has been serving as senior vice president and general manager of Turner’s broadband-video-games network, GameTap, since 2005 -- is now executive VP and chief operating officer of Turner’s Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media outfit.

In addition, Snyder will work closely with Turner Broadcasting System International on Cartoon Network holdings in Asia, Japan, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

“Building a new operating structure around our company’s animation and digital entertainment assets and positioning Stu at its head signals the opportunity we see among kids and young adults and our intention to more aggressively play in that marketplace,” Lazarus said in a prepared statement.

Snyder’s appointment came almost three months after Cartoon Network GM Jim Samples resigned his position over an Adult Swim guerrilla-marketing campaign in Beantown went awry.

Snyder rejoined Turner in 2005 as senior VP and GM of GameTap.

Synder’s resume also includes entries as president and CEO of live-action and animation production/distribution company Cinar, COO of World Wrestling Entertainment, president of USA Home Entertainment and president and COO of Feld Entertainment, whose franchises includes Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Prior to that, Snyder led Turner’s home entertainment division and held executive positions at Live Home Video and MGM/UA Home Entertainment.

Please be sure to address all hate mail/bomb threats accordingly. (J/K- No, Rly! :p )

let's see.... He's worked for the WWE, and the circus...yeah, that makes perfect sense giving this guy the reins of the CARTOON Network, given all his practical experience in animation!

Such Douchebaggery should not go unchallenged!

I'd love Destroy Build Destroy if it wasn't on CARTOON network.

Incidentally, there's rumors that Hasbro's getting it's own network. Since CN is very much done, I look forward to this.

At least there's still Boomerang

Oddly, now being part of CN will actually be a plus if Vince wants him back, cause it's not wrestling and maybe wrestling can be more exciting and get better ratings if it tries to appeal to everyone.

Course, Vince has no idea what's popular anyway. Dude had no idea who Tom Green was in 1999, and was confused when Paul Burchill's pirate look was inspired by Jack Sparrow.

He's also the douchebag who probably canceled Totally Spies. Notice how when he started was about the time they axed Season 4 half way through.

I'm sure Vince spends a lot of his free time snorting coke and reading Buff Hunks Weekly.

Yeah, you don't suppose it's a coincidence that TS dropped out of CN's rotation right around the time of the Mooninite "bomb scare" of '07, do you...?

That whole incident I guess has lead to the station going down the toilet. Thank you pigs of Boston who are so inbred you can confuse a Light Bright for a terrorist planted bomb, as well as the self-important mayor and media-hacks of that shit-hole who took advantage of that hill of beans in the most self-serving way imaginably possible. It was only an amount of time though before Time-Warner caved and destroyed one of the few good things running out of that soulless conglomeration.

I truly feel that sometime between 9-11-2001 and the Mooninite bomb scare of '07, someone went and dropped America on it's head causing it to loose some of it's overall brain function.

As is the case with all terrible things with no clear culprit, I blame Woody Harrelson.

The timing is far more than coincidental in respect to TS getting axed mid-season back in '07, imo.

After Jim Samples got the boot for that admittedly ill-conceived Moonenite promotion for [as], he handed in his resignation, at which point Mike Lazarus took over the day to day operations of both CN and [as]. Lazarus is well known to hate ANYTHING anime or even anime-related, and so it only follows that he would wipe out both the late-night rotation of Japanese anime as well as something like TS, which does use some anime tropes as part of it's look, in one fell swoop. So it can be summed up as being a decision based on personal dislike, rather than a sound business model. In other words, Lazarus is a fuckin' idiot.

Without a doubt, both Stuart Snyder and Jim Lazarus (who I just heard about just now) exhibit ay-holery on par with Alfred Kahn of 4kids "fame".

I can't read this thread anymore, it's making me too angry.

Not that I give two shits about Naruto, but I think this is pretty telling about how done CN is with anime:

Disney XD to Add Naruto Shippūden in U.S. (Updated)

Showings to start next month

The Hollywood Reporter newspaper has revealed and Viz Media has confirmed that the Naruto Shippūden anime series will run on the Disney XD channel in the United States starting next month. The sequel series takes place two and a half years after the first Naruto anime series as the older, somewhat more mature title character returns to his village of Konoha and faces the Akatsuki criminal ninja organization. The series has been streaming online on several websites, including ANN, since January.

The first Naruto anime series based on Masashi Kishimoto's ninja manga ran on the Cartoon Network until this year, shortly after the network had also ended its Toonami programming block. Viz Media publishes the original manga and also releases the DVDs of the anime adaptations.

Disney XD is The Walt Disney Company's television channel aimed primarily, but not exclusively, to boys. It has also run Digimon: Data Squad and Oban Star-Racers.

Thank you to the ADVNation blog for the news tip.

I actually can't understand why CN, in their right mind would cancel "Naruto". It's not that I liked it, but man, it was really popular. I can understand if it was some sort of wacky contract dispute, but it's as if someone at CN said, "Man, fuck anime. Let's show shitty movies instead."

Course, CN does still air "Bakugan" and "Pokemon" and "Yu-Gi-Oh", but the last two are 4kids shows, and I think 4kids must have some sort of power to grab networks by the balls.

It's probably the same douchebag Laura talked about, it would be my guess. If Natruto didn't pull in good ratings, Disney wouldn't snatch it up like that.

I don't know where Disney XD is show shown, but I can't help but see a smiley fact at the end of that name.

Yeah, that was bothering me too everytime I would read it :omg:

Anyways... cancelling Naruto was pretty stupid, and kinda random... I mean not too terribly long ago I remember watching like weekend-long marathons of Naruto on CartoonNetwork, it was almost like their big cash cow or something

What's next? Will Nickelodeon cancel Spongebob? :lmao:
