T-Boz tried to talk to me!

Just wanted to say if you considered seeing this movie just do it. There hasn't been many horror movies that I really enjoyed all that much in the theater in several years. There was Land of the Dead and Mother of Tears of course, but everything else seemed like crap. This movie is great and hearkens back to the oldschool style of making horror films. Not Scream, not the Ring, and not Saw, but something that you could maybe expect to watch from the 70's except with an even great gross-out factor and better special effects. Definitely going to say Sam Rami did a great comeback to horror. If you liked the Evil Dead films, definitely see this one. Its very much in that vein with the entire visual style to it and black comedy. The black comedy isn't too over-the top though but I think it straddled the line perfectly. This film also pushed the boundaries for a PG-13 horror film with as much as they got away with. I doubt another PG-13 horror movie this good will ever be made.

This, this a thousand times this.

Loved this. Brilliant film. Has this aura of being intentionally crappy and stupid, but it's awesome because of it. Essentially the pinnacle of intentional bad movie making. That was all praise.

The seance scene ALONE is worth the price of admission.

Though it was kinda odd to see a Raimi flick without Bruce Campbell in it. Maybe his scene was deleted.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Never did think you'd ever see anyone laughing at that kind of thing.

I don't think it's intentionally "bad movie" making. More like intentionally guilty pleasure film with exploitation era flavor. Maybe even before that. I mean a film about a gypsy curse, when's the last time that happened outside of that crappy Thinner film no-one remembers? Something like that is straight out of the 60's. lol Unlike a lot of new hack music video directors who are hired by studios to make their horror films, Raimi knows horror at its core because he got into the industry due to being a fanboy himself.

Also how he used gross-out humor to straddle the line between shocking the audience and making them laugh was beyond excellent. There are really not that many people who could pull that off at all. Too many people who have tried just ended up making third rate comedies instead of actually pulling them off as horror films.

Bruce isn't in all of his films, but his Oldsmobile certainly is. lol
