『美女か野獣 Kiss? or Fight?』, which is more or less translated as The Beauty or the Beast: Kiss or Fight?, is a Japanese drama I saw without subs some time ago on a local international channel. The fansubs were hard to get--took me nearly a week to download off torrents, and on top of that, looking from the first episode, had by far the worst quality I have seen in some time .It stars Masaharu Fukuyama and hottie Nanako Matsushima . You may recognize the latter as the lead in the Japanese Ringu and/or as Azusa Fuyutsuki in the live action GTO . I also recognize Kiyoshi Kodama as the anchorman Kyoichiro Sakuragi--he played Yuki Aoi's doctor in another drama I have seen XD .Makoto Takamiya (Matsushima), a Harvard (yes, THAT Hah-vahd) graduate, is a news reporter for a major network in the United States (namely, "UNN", or "United News Network" ). Japan Broadcasting Channel ("JBC") scouts her to revive their floundering ratings, and offers her a hefty deal. Meanwhile, someone from JBC's Variety Department gets transferred to the more serious News Department--Hiromi Nagase (Fukuyama). These two conflicting personalities clash.Preview of the first episode: |

Did a round or two of googling "Steel Angel Kurumi Pure", but nothing came up , just a mention that "Pure" exists and is the live-action version of SAK, and other questions of whether or not it's subbed, licensed, or anything else .Anyways, after seeing all eleven episodes of Bijo ka Yajuu, it's nice to see that the romance between the two lead characters† is more subtle, considering it would have been a definite pen-in-company-ink issue if it wasn't XD . † …and no, the romance does not involve incest, robots, maids, or lesbians . Although, in one episode IIRC, there was a slight slashability between the cute weathergirl Yukino and the chief producer Tamiya/Takamiya. The awkwardness of the same almost-boyfriend adds to the awesome XD .
