For the giallo fans out there, just saw this on Blue Underground's site.

Torso of course was Sergio Martino's biggest hit out of a catalog of very good horror and suspense films. I wasn't able to get it yet, because it's OOP and hella expensive. I'm going to take a wager, and say the disc is the same as the Anchor Bay version.

10th Victim, I know as one of Laura's favorite films. Dont' know much about it, but it does have to the Laura seal of approval, meaning it must be great. XD This also appears to be a new release from Blue Underground, maybe showing they are indeed going back to releasing and remastering new films, unlike what Bill Lustig said last year in intereviews.

That's awesome news! Thanx for the heads-up - I can hardly wait for those releases to come out! Both of these films get my 'seal of approval', for very different reasons. "Torso", of course, is definitely Sergio Martino's best film, almost on par with some of Argento's best work, extremely graphic and quite convoluted with some incredible camera work. "The Tenth Victim", on the other hand, is a sci-fi satire that is very much a child of the 60's, using many ultra-mod stylistic cues and a very lighthearted approach to state-sanctioned multiple murder. You'll notice quite a lot of the elements of this film were lifted completely for use in "Austin Powers", though much less effectively in the Mike Meyers films. The most obvious homage/ripoff being the use of the name 'Ming Tea' - a corporate sponsor of 'The Big Hunt' in "Victim", as well as being the name of Meyer's crappy psychedelic band in "Powers". That said, even though both of these releases are products of very different times and vastly different genres, they're both incredible films that hold up remarkably well.... Blue Underground has made some great choices here!

@ Spin - Ursula Andress was best known as one of the early 'Bond Girls', though I remember her more for starring in "Mountain of the Cannibal God"...lol

Specifically Honey Ryder in Dr. No.

Now that I look at it, Dr. No casting seems pretty odd, mostly cause Dr. No, who was supposed to be half Chinese was played by a Caucasian guy from Canada. Which he did MUCH better than IIRC, Sean Connery trying to be a Japanese guy in "You Only Live Twice".

On the plus side, it's not like the trend continued to the point where we got unfortunate blackface in "Live and Let Die", or as I call it "Blaxplotation Bond" or "Bond 73: Bond Get's Funky."

It's MUCH better than those names make it. Yeah, some might think it's a bit racist, but it had some KICK ASS villains and henchman. Especially Baron Samedi and Tee Hee Johnson. Geoffrey Holder and Julius Harris (respectively) brought their a-games.

I do think Hollywood is straight up racist against Asians though. I came to this conclusion after that gambling movie that came out last year that was supposed to be based on a "real life" story. In the original novel and true life story, the main character is asian. In the Hollywood movie he's suddenly white with no explanation.

Another possibility, the Little Mermaid. XD Am I also the only one who felt she was yuri for Ariel? XD And no yuri isn't the only thing I think about, if your wondering. :lmao:
