Must be a sign that bluray is really catching on. I will definitely be copping this. First movie is a classic imo, with extremely memorable dialogue and a darker take on the turtles than the cartoon. The CGI movie I felt was also pretty good. II and III are of more questionable quality, with II being more corny but entertaining and III being pretty worthless (made during the backlash against violence in kid's cartoons) but I'd definitely be interested in seeing them in High Def again. XD

I watched the cartoon again some time ago and it held up surprisingly well. It's still got that lame 80s cheesiness to it, and possibly made better by my personal nostalgia, but I still loved it.

The 10th season bonus episodes? Fuck those. Fuck them hard. Too much added crap and villain changes/new characters.

True, I still think the original cartoon is great. It's just more based in comedy and weirdness than say darkness, comedy, and weirdness like the original comic and film. Raphael from some episode - "Go suck on a lemon." Still great stuff. xD

Also great was the Archie comic that Mirage was actually responsible. In later issues it became extremely cool with time-travel storylines, Armagon the shark, and what have you. They should really do trade paper-backs at some point.

I never really got to see much of the Turtles. I was probably a little too young to see it, and when I got to a point where I might have an appreciation for it, they weren't on the air anymore. Haven't seen the live action movies either, but I might if they air them on one of the NY stations, they tend to show a lot of odd films late at night. I'm guessing that Warner's considers it a hot property if they're going with the full-blown Bluray box set release. I dunno, if it shows up at my local video store, maybe I'll rent it and see what it's all about....

Well, you like kaiju films and other weirdness so I think you could definitely dig the live-action films since the idea is the same, grown me dressed up in rubber suits as monsters fighting. I at least suggest checking out the first one. The appeal might be slightly generational, but I think it still has universal appeal to people who like wacky comic-book inspired strangeness. The film is more influenced by the comic from the 80's which definitely had an emphasis on the dark and the strange although the over-riding themes are of brotherhood and family. Also again it has some great sarcastic one liners. I still quote the film to this day.
