T-Boz tried to talk to me!

Ok, there's probably only one film that fits that bill, but I think that would be genre for D.E.B.S. This movie:![]() I saw the trailer for this in 2005 in theaters. It looked like a live-action version of Totally Spies, and strangely enough the trailer promised yuri. XD So finally, after being reminded of it again after seeing a bit of it on LOGO, I decided to cop the DVD. Big similarities between TS is that it's about D.E.B.S. a spy organization composed of young girls, in this case chosen from a test hidden in the SATs. Biggest difference is that instead of wearing spy suits they wear plaid mini-skirts, and they pack heat. The directing and cinematography of this movie is also very cartoon-like, giving it an even closer feel to TS. Unfortunately, despite getting a wide release and being backed by Sony, this movie falls directly into b-movie category. I wouldn't expect this to be Citizen Kane, but the script is pretty weak. Ironically, TS probalby has slightly better scripts. I was also expecting some more action and thrills than what I got. I guess doing more would've cost too much money beyond what they accomplished with cheap CGI from their obviously sparse budget. This movie however delivered on the yuri. One half of the romance is with, goody two-shoes, blond spy girl Amy Bradshaw, who got a perfect score on the hidden test and just dumped her douchebag spy boy-friend (think Dean). The other half is the dark haired, hot, supposed criminal master-mind, Lucy Diamond. While their romance is pretty badly written, it is cute, and that is the main redeeming thing about this movie. And unlike how it was portrayed in the deceptive trailer, it is the main focus, if not the only focus, of this movie. So major points for being "ballsy" enough to do that. This is pretty much the only yuri-centric live-action movie that made into theaters that I'm aware of that didn't revolve around lame, "real-life" melodrama. I'm glad I own the DVD, I'll probably watch it again sometime. For other TS fans, I would suggest this as at least a rental. XD Edited by Syxx, Sep 14 2009, 11:45 PM.

Take notes Marathon...this is a good thing to have. Rented it after spotting the aforementioned schoolgirlish outfits and reading the blurb on the back. Sounded TS-ish to me, so figured I'd give it a shot. Syxx hit the nail on the head with his recap. I'll reommend a look as well.

I found this in a bin at FYE today as part of a "3 for $12" promotion today. Thought of this topic and bought the dang thing. I'm looking more forward to it then I probably should be, but dang it, live action spy cartoon with lesbian relationships! How often does such a movie get made? For those wondering, the other two movies were "Steamboy" and that "Final Fantasy" movie that came out some years ago. I don't think "The Spirits Within" is too good, but for $4, I can't complain. And it's the special two disc edition. |

I watched this movie and I thought the whole thing was very, very cute. Even if the whole situation is really ludacris, the characters play it off as an everyday thing which is interesting to see. I enjoyed all the characters and how they were all differently portrayed. Though I wish they would portray Lucy's character to fit the "killer" role, and Amy and Max's "best friend" role better. The relationship between Lucy and Amy was adorable, even if it was poorly writen. I wish there would have been more action, it was more of a teen movie than an action packed lesbian couple movie. But was good for a low budget film. |

I think I saw a trailer of this back when I had Encore/Movieplex, but back then it just seemed like another movie geared for the teenage demographic. The way you're selling me * "Live-Action Spy Carton Lesbian Romantic Comedies" I like how this stars Meagan Good, a.k.a. Melanie West from a television I used to watch on the channel formerly known as UPN. I also like how this stars Michael Clarke Duncan, a.k.a. Lady Gaga from The Green Mile: |

It's 100 percent yuri, like both main characters and the main plot. They under-sold it in the advertisements obviously as part of the marketing to try to reach a wider demographic or some shit, although they still have them smooching in the trailer. A lot of movies are nothing like they are shown to be in the trailer. I wouldn't also describe this as a generic teen movie. Its sorta like an over the top cartoon spy thing. Kinda reminds me of another show (hmmm what was that called?). Edited by Syxx, Sep 15 2009, 12:29 AM.

1. I bet the smooching was more for the "horny guy who thinks lesbians are hot" demo than the gay and lesbian demo. Ironically, this thing is a cult classic in the gay world. Least, I'm assuming so since it gets played on Logo. 2. "Kim Possible" maybe? |

That's what marketing was probalby thinking. I haven't watched the commernatry/featurette, etc. yet, but I'm pretty sure this was written and directed by a lesbian. Even if it was just included for the hawtness, though, I don't think that's necesarily "bad" as long as its not presented in a demeaning way, but that's obviously not the case anyways. I'm still kinda surprised this film got major studio backing regardless of the slightly skewed marketing. I think people need to stop worrying about aiming at certain super sterotypical demographics that look down upon the populace as stupid and reactionary little groups that act in unison. Gay characters should just be in normal films, shows, etc. without it being a huge deal. This has already been proved imo. Stuff like Sailor Moon and Buffy: the Vampire Slayer have yuri and still have wide appeal.
Kim Possibly doesn't work for a giant, secret spy organization that uses an acronym to hires teenage school girls to save the world. It must be some other show, but I still can't quite put my finger on it. XD Edited by Syxx, Sep 15 2009, 01:51 PM.

I. ) Meh. I'm so jaded that it takes a lot more than that to get my attention. Although, it is worthy of immortalizing in an animated GIF/avatar. Which reminds me, I have to make more of those from teh wrestling shows I've been d/l-ing. XD II. ) Meh. I'm more of the "horny guy who thinks [almost*] every woman is hot" demo, as indicated to my responses to Kristin Dunst in cosplay and the scrunchie girl in Taz's singlet. * I do have standards. ![]() III. ) For some reason, I mistook Logo for a clone of "Teh N" (now "TeeNnick"). I didn't know it was supposed to be a Bravo clone, which I only used to watch for the occasional episodes of Project Runaway, which "ran away" to Lifetime: Television for Idiots, and the occasional Neighbor who is Legally Obligated to Introduce Himself. XD

I guess you never watched LOGO if you thought it was the N. ![]() Wouldn't say its a Bravo clone, I mean Bravo has a lot of gay programming and its ran by a gay dude, but its not the official gay channel like LOGO is. They're possibly owned by the same people though, I'm assuming. |

I've seen a few episodes of reality show Queen Bees on the N, but I don't think I have seen LOGO because my basic-ass Comcast doesn't carry it. XP It turns out that although they're not clones of each other, they, along with SpikeTV, are owned by Viacum. Bravo is owned by NBC Universal, which also owns ScyFy. I guess that means Bravo could air ECW, which is better because (A) Bravo is part of my basic-ass Comcast package, and (B) it better fits the demographic now that Goldust is in it.

Except that Goldust isn't ambiguously sexual anymore or anything. He's just...I dunno, Dustin Runnels in the Goldust outfit or something. This, however is amazing. Only with the full outfit on. I wonder if it fits other figures. You could have "WTF" Steve Blackman. |

Doesn't Jakks Pacific use the same molds for every figure with different heads? I recall my Kevin Nash being the same height as my X-Pac. That's quality folks. So yeah I'm sure they may as well start reusing the heads as well. |

He does still have that tourettes thing going on from when Batista and Randeh Orton threw him into a circuit box some-odd years ago. But that included youtube video blew away both of my wrestling merchandise unboxing videos. XD
