So I bought the two-disc special edition of Suspiria recently, because I wanted the extras disc. I already have the stand-alone DVD, which is exactly the same as the other one minus the extras disc.

It's barely used and basically brand new so I was wondering if anyone wanted it? I'd consider giving it to people I know in real-life, but knowing them it would probably be wasted on them. So I thought I may as well share it with my TSUG brethern as an early Christ present for some member and introduce them to my directing god, Dario Argento, who to me is to horror what Bret Hart is to wrestling. :lmao:

I would pay the shipping for it, the only thing I would require is that you live in the US or Canada and are over 18. Being a 70's Argento movie it of course is very explicit, and that's even compared to any R-rated film you've probably seen in a US theater recently.

Some more info about this movie from a review someone wrote:

Outside of devoted cult audiences, many Americans have yet to discover the extremely stylish, relentlessly terrifying Italian horror genre, or the films of its talented virtuoso, Dario Argento. Suspiria, part one of a still-uncompleted trilogy (the luminously empty Inferno was the second), is considered his masterpiece by Argento devotees but also doubles as a perfect starting point for those unfamiliar with the director or his genre. The convoluted plot follows an American dancer (Jessica Harper) from her arrival at a European ballet school to her discovery that it's actually a witches coven; but, really, don't worry about that too much. Argento makes narrative subservient to technique, preferring instead to assault the senses and nervous system with mood, atmosphere, illusory gore, garish set production, a menacing camera, and perhaps the creepiest score ever created for a movie. It's essentially a series of effectively unsettling set pieces--a raging storm that Harper should have taken for an omen, and a blind man attacked by his own dog are just two examples--strung together on a skeleton structure. But once you've seen it, you'll never forget it. --Dave McCoy

Awesome. Thanks.

I really wish I had some random extra junk sitting in my house I could send you, but I don't think you'd be in the market for a non-working NES Zelda cart.

I don't even know where it is either.

This is like that time I went to a fancy restaurant, and my sister got the wrong dessert so we ended up with TWO desserts.

Yeah, but your mom let you buy it. I'm not going to mail this movie to some ranodm minor I don't even know. lol

And I mailed this out today. They said it should get to Trilium in 4 days or something. Tell us what you think about the movie, so I know if you've been converted the church of Argento or not. :lmao:

I hope thinks it's as cheasy as I do so at least one person agrees with me.

Besides, the age rating for that movie is way to high, it ain't scary at all, it's actually almost funny :p

^ The only horror movies you have seen begin with the word saw or ring, so what would you have to compare it to anyways? :p Also something being older than 4 years ago doesn't make it cheesy, I'm sorry. :p

WTF?! Look it's not the age ok? Just cos I'm young does'nt mean I don't like old movies! I love Bambi and that's even older then a fossil like you! I just think the effect are stupid! God damn it! :pissed:

Also Suspiria is just as cheasy as such other gems like An Amaerican Werewolf in London and The Fly so don't even try to tell me I don't know anything about horrors

There's nothing wrong with the special effects in this movie. Nothing. There may have been a couple moments where he went a bit over the top, but he did it to create a nightmare like atmosphere. Everything in this movie was extremely controlled to create mood and atmosphere.

Comparing this movie to the Fly, is like comparing the Omen to Night of the Living Dead or something. There's nothing in this movie even resembling a traditional Hollywood narrative at all, not to mention the lighting, set-design, camera angles, death scenes, and out of control synth-rock score.

Bambi is an animated movie and doesn't really count. :p

Well it arrived today, in one piece, no cracks or any crazy postal damage.

Haven't watched or listened to either, but at least you know it made it.

When you said 4 days and I didn't get it last week I thought the post office fucked up and it got lost or something.

Then I saw the words "media mail" on it.

Media mail. Sending packages from one end of the country to the other in two weeks.

But it wasn't like I needed this for gift, so I'm not pissed.

Thanks again.

You're welcome. I know media mail is slow, but I guess the lady at the post-office was off her medication or something when she told me 4 days. >_>

Honestly, I thought I like gave you the wrong address or something and some guy out there got some package and either flipped out and called the police or was like "Hey...free stuff!"

Sadly no.

I got it at a bad time, (right before my surgery) and my things to watch pile is huge.

I don't like listening to CDs on the computer for some reason, plus my CD drive likes to randomly crap out. My CD player is also cranky and sounds like a 1960s VW starting up.

I will listen to the CD on my commute to college tuesday and possibly rip it to my iPod if it's good.

Which it probably is, but you never know.

That's all right, I kinda realized you went to the hospital right after you got it.

And as for Viktor Vaughn, that shit is ill. Possibly Doom's greatest album. The lyrics are both witty and hilarious, not to mention all the things he references.

I guess I'm probably the last person out there who doesn't own an ipod. lol
