Hey was just wondering how many other people watched the start of X Games 13 today. I know I watched from start to finish, as I plan to do with each of the 4 days. For those watching did anyone elses body hurt after seeing Jake Brown fall from 35+ ft and landing without even touching the ramp? Because I was in pain from that and I was a couple thousand miles away... Heh |

Not me (sorry) The "X games" that started in the 1990s lost it's "cool" whenever corporations began to tap in (or taper into) the competition. "X" stood for both extreme sports and the generation X who came up with them out of boredom and excitement in the 1980s. Originally, the object of the X games described the liberalness, youthfulness and innovativeness of "gen-Xers" at the time, when it came to sports and their wish not to "sell out" dirt biking, snowboarding and extreme sports they invented in a garage or driveway. The generation "X" born from 1965 to 1980 (I'm on the cusp 'tween X and Y) felt like perpeutal losers in the 1990's when they "left the nest" (and find the twigs are placed further or found lesser than their parents) in the recession and increased competitiveness in the further yuppiefied, stricter and not-well-paid job market. |
