Right out of a series of 30-second "Geico" commercials, "Cavemen" premieres on ABC in Sept. and critics aren't only debated on a successful commercial gimmick gets their prime time show, others assume it's a metaphor to minority groups in the U.S. and like reality, the cavemen struggle to blend in with the majority.

"Cavemen" is about a middle-class family of Cro-Magnons in suburban Atlanta and their relation to the modern world. Cro-magnons (although they don't exist today) are "discovered" to live among us, adapted as much as they can, but feel like Cro-magnons and are picked on or discriminated, not only stereotyped as the cavemen they are.

I have the AOL news link on why "Cavemen" reminds people of so many American racial/ethnic groups, but the TV producers and writers (nor Geico auto Insurance) said the characters aren't created for this purpose to mimick African-Americans or others (i.e. American indians as Atlanta is historically part of the Cherokee nation).

I've heard it's not that bad.

At the same time, it's basically a commercial made longer, and according to one person, Al Gore propaganda.

Sounds totally neanderthal :p

Yehh.... I dunno, haven't seen anything or heard about new show, but on hte commercials its dumb enough, so I'll pass on the uninteresting life of a Caveman <yawns>

"Cavemen" isn't supposed to be a 30-minute commercial! It's a comedy about what if Cro-magnons/Neanderthals would do in the modern world and improved their social skills with humans?

What gets me is cavemen are also human, but from another place and time...and to watch them work in the office, teach schools, drive cars/trucks, are celebrities and elected to political office? I think that'll be a cool show! "Watch Cavemen get on a business suit" or "see cavemen live in a single-family tract home".

Sounds like... really odd, actually

I think that it would end up being stupid, since the story would just be redundant and you can already tell what they'd do with it... they'd make fire... they'd make a wheel... yadda yadd, boring

T-Boz tried to talk to me!

^I'd say it would probably go more like the commercials. The modern-day life of cavemen in the modern world. lol I don't know, this is one show I may actually watch. Just becuase it's not another stupid sitcom about parenting like every show on broadcast tv for 50 years. I don't think I've watch prime-time tv since the days of Urkle, no kidding you.

Well to think of it, how pop culture depicts cavemen making fire or the wheel is an old tired script. This isn't the first prime-time show about prehistoric man. Anyone recall watching "the Flintstones?" : Fred, Barney, Wilma, Betty, Pebbles, Bam-bam etc., they are "the modern stone-age family". An animated series about cavemen is more fun to watch, the Flintstones was on 6 years on prime time in the 1960s. :lmao: :roflmao:

I loved The Flintstones! ^^ I might like it if it was like them... god, I miss dat show s'much!! :pif:

Although, I could also end up feeling like it was a rip-off of them too... depends...

It may be good, but I still doubt it will be something too worth-watching :hmm:

Heard about this. I wonder how it'll do on national television. I'll watch it if it's good. And I like the Geico Cavemen anyhow.

Apparently, one of the Geico cavemen (or a really unfortunate looking person) was at Lollapalooza.

The Question: Is Lollapalooza way too corporate now or Is the caveman *gasp* hip!

I'm gonna have to go with the former.

When was it on?

That's dumb that they cancelled it. Did they even give it a chance?

I was kinda looking foward to it.
