For all of those who don't know the difference, this guide may shift you away from misunderstandings. Noob or Newb? First of all, let's start by the description of each of these online labels: The common consensus is that a "newb" is someone who through their very nature of being a member is inexperienced and naďve to particular forum mechanics or etiquette, whereas a "noob" is a member that can or not be considered to be experienced, yet often makes mistakes or solecisms that would more likely be attributed to a "newb." The term "noob" can also be applied to someone who is experienced, but blatantly disregards rules and etiquette through personal choice; however, the label "troll" would be more accurate. So with that settled, a newb (or newbie) is a new member, not necessarily an idiot ;) What characterizes a "noob" Posted Image You can spot a noob as soon as you see a couple of posts from him/her. A noob is an annoying person, whether it's due to complete grammar and spelling disregards or immature attitudes. Drawing it in a too simplistic way...
... are the behaviours that pretty much characterize a noob. There are probably much more, but you get the idea. How to deal with noobs The trick is never to lose calm and always try to explain things to them in the best and more explicit way you can. If they start flamming you or trolling point them to a board Moderator to take measures, if needed. Never exclude noobs just because they are so, remember that you've probably been a noob somewhere in the past, rather try to help them become regular members with advice. We want to improve the quality of the boards we are in, and a noob is always a possible great member, so it's always preferable to help them rather than ignoring them. B) Thank you for reading.
