Repeal "Renewable Energy Commitment"

Argument: The World Assembly,

Acknowledging the attempt of Resolution #182 to reduce the use of fossil fuels in member nations;

Perplexed by the requirement that each member nation commit sufficient funding towards researching renewable energy when very likely virtually all renewable energy sources have been discovered, and the scientific research that one nation has done could be easily shared with other nations, and that therefore many nations who have been complying with this resolution for the past three years have been engaging in redundant research on technologies that have already been discovered and could have been easily disseminated for the benefit of all;

Confused by the suggestion that nations tax at least 5% of fossil-fuel burning power plants' expenditures instead of their revenues;

Annoyed that 5% was seemingly chosen at random, as a flat tax does not take into consideration the wide disparity of our member nations and their economies and industries, nor each nation's previous financial commitments towards implementing and subsidizing renewable energy financed through other sources;

Cognizant that member nations live on a variety of planets and exist as a variety of species, and that the production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases may be non-harmful or even essential to the survival of certain member nations' citizens;

Wishing that this resolution had installed a World Assembly committee that focused on promoting and sharing existing renewable energy technology instead of encouraging nations to implement an aimless tax on power plants;

Asserting that Resolution #182 is ineffective, insufficient, and inadequate;

Hereby repeals "General Assembly Resolution #182, Renewable Research Commitment"

This is an interesting one.

It goes to the point of whether you see the WA as operating within a world broadly similar to ours (like issues and game mechanics tend to assume) or a very different one, where any RP goes.

If the latter is the case, virtually no GA resolutions make any sense. What FGM, if we're all different species to whom it mightn't be relevant?

I think many of the arguments made by the repeal are also deeply flawed. On the other hand, I don't know if the original resolution was the best, either

I'm undecided.

I strongly dislike Renewable Research Commitment, but I dislike Vancouvia's antics more.

Against.

For. Despite Vancouvia having an attitude of 'get a author's badge at any cost' attitude, I feel that Renewable Energy Commitment could have been better structured to best suit the collective wishes of the World Assembly's member states.
