High Court Action
The Crown vs Nova Caeli
First Case of its Kind

Recently, Greater Wetlands saw its first precedent setting case in The Crown v. Nova Caeli. In the case, Nova Caeli was charged with being in violation of Decree #1, which states that each citizen of the Region must maintain a nation within Greater Wetlands.
The defense argued that while it may appear that Nova Caeli does not have a nation within the Region, it cannot be proved that he does not unless the Government can account for the owner of every nation within the Region. Ultimately, the Court decided in favor of the prosecution, because while it is possible that Nova Caeli could have had a nation within the Region that the Government didn't know about, a thread for citizen applications is provided on the forum. So, the precedent was set that for a citizen to maintain his citizenship, he must keep the nation that was reported in the citizen application thread in Greater Wetlands.

Royal Court and Witenagamot Round Up

Decree#026 - This law is about the procedure regarding documents that may be classified as regional secrets. This law was passed as The Crown and Government of the region felt it was necessary to protect any and all sensitive documents, articles and transcripts that may otherwise have found their way to an enemy of the region. The Decree states that any plans, articles, transcripts, conversations and any other type of document that may reveal sensitive information, may be deemed a regional secret by the Crown and or a unanimous vote of the Witenagemot.

Decree#027 - This decree was created so that any act of libel or defamation of character was made illegal after the publication of a newspaper article in the region was disputed to be knowingly false against a few members of the region. The Decree states that no freeman or noble within the region may publish a document, article or statement in which they believe the contents of that document to be untrue, if any freeman is found guilty of libel or defamation of character they may face a temporary ban from the region not to exceed 14 days.

Decree#028 - In this decree HRH King Quinncunx I stated that there will be three days set aside for a regional holiday to celebrate the marriage of King Quinncunx I and his partner Johnson J. Bloom. The region took three days break from all Government Matters and all Judicial Proceedings were postponed until December 1st.

Decree#29 - Is talked about further in our update.

Decree#30 - With the start of our Festival Frivolity, the King brought about a decree to define spam and where spam was allowed. Some of our current freemen and members of Government will remember Chancellor Aisli's Spamfest which whilst unregulated led to the Citizens storming the Lower Chambers of Parliament and posting out of context material. This decree has been designed to prevent this from happening again.

Decree#31 - This decree brought about something that has never before been seen in any age of the Greater Wetlands, the Regional Referendum, now ordinary freemen can challenge the laws of the Government. As of yet this law has not been used, though there has been some discussion surrounding its use.

Decree#32 - Finally Decree#32 draw up by a Councilmen, declares the Greater Wetlands a neutral region, this has come in the midst of the King and Lord Ambassador being presented with a treaty from The Land of Kings and Emperors and a proposal from the UK.

Election time - Election Fever has once again taken hold of Greater Wetlands as elections are currently taking place to choose two candidates to represent the freemen and women of Greater Wetlands in the Witenagemot.

The candidates of the election that the people must choose from are (In Alphabetical Order): Director General Reginald Front-de-boeuf, Dr. Steel H.Ammer O.L, Greater Genowa, Vibhor and Viisbyax.

The votes were again cast in a blind ballot where no candidates knew how well they were doing or how poorly they were doing and had no idea how the election was going until Lord Protector of the Region, Collant announced the two winners at the end of the 48 hour voting period, the winners of the election where incumbent DR. Steel H.Ammer O.L and Reginald Front de boeuf.

Festive Frivolity!

A number of Festive Fun threads have opened this week as the region prepares for it's second year of festive fun together. HRH King Quinncunx has established a number of competitions for some of the festive fun-loving members of the region, with the best entries being awarded Culture points which you will be to cash in for prizes eventually.

Some of the competitions include designing a Christmas Card for Greater Wetlands and Having a Christmas Avatar with different Culture Points awarded accordingly.

There is also a December Quad Annuals which aim to recognize the members that are achieving high standards in various sections of Greater Wetlands life. The Nominations are open until December 10th so if you still have not got your nominations in you better hurry before it gets closed. The results of the Quad will be announced shortly after all votes are counted.

Notice from the Government of the Greater Wetlands

Following the passing of Decree 029 shortly before this update was sent out the Crown has now ordered that regions who wish to have an in game embassy must also apply for a forum embassy too. The Crown has given the current in game embassies 30 days to correct this matter or they risk their embassies being closed down.
