Welcome TGs; Sign-ups and Coordination

Admin Slave Posts: 4,157 Group: Admin Member #447 Joined: August 27, 2007 Nation name: Sedgistan	This thread is for coordinating the sending out of welcome telegrams to new nations in The Rejected Realms. If you are interested in helping sending out these TGs - even if it's just a few per day, please sign up here. The way this works is simple. Make sure you're been confirmed as a Welcomer before sending anything out. Once you have, and you're ready to go, post in this thread to say when you've started sending TGs - this means that no-one else will be sending TGs at the same time, so we don't have to worry about accidently spamming people. There is a set TG, posted below, which only needs editing to include your name at the end. Go to the list of nations within the region, and sort it by residency. Check to see where the previous welcomer finished off, and telegram all those who have joined since. Make sure you use your TRR resident nation to send these TGs. Record the names of those nations you have contacted, and post again in this thread when you've finished with a list of those nations (spoilered) and to say you've finished for now. This allows the other Welcomers to see that they can start sending out TGs. The more often these telegrams are sent out, the easier the job is - you may just have to send out 10-20 telegrams, which only take a few minutes. Quote: Hi! Especially with the turbulence in TGGR and Weopi we will be receiving many new members, and it would be great to pick up new active members to breath some new life into the Realms. There are a few ways we can systematically these nations. 1) We can take shifts and have someone on guard on all times for new members. 2) Or, we take a more direct approach and contact only the people who post on the RMB, which probably means they are considering staying. What are your thoughts?

Since this is hard to do you could also consider using this tool http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/api.cgi?region=the_rejected_realms&q=nations And start at the latter end to find new nations that you might have missed if a "shift" isn't covered. You could also replace all the ":" with commas or another common delimiter to make it compatible with a lot of the scripts that are already being used. You can also do it manually of course. Like everyday choose a nation to start at, and the next day start where the last day ended since it always updates with new residents. This might be better than hitting someone right when they come in as they may simply be in transit...but that has advantages too. If you can't get people to fill shifts though, I'd use this instead of limiting yourself to RMB people.

The Midwest has been out of power, but I once again have computer access. I think scripts might be banned, so do you just want to send a TG to new arrivals once every two/three days? That should give the ones who want to leave time to evacuate before they are placed on the registry. If you think that is too labor intensive, we can switch slots. I have only been hitting up the ones who post on the RMB.

I can't be relied on to send it out manually at this point but if someone could get some clarification on the script issue we can see if they can be used to our advantage.
