I do want this up to vote soon. If you're on IRC, you're about to be nagged.

They're useful. I don't see the cons outweighing that.

Figured I'd pop in over here and give my opinion to explain my vote. :P

I've been open in the past about disliking the FRA's politics. But while I don't think I would vote to join the FRA, retaining our membership is a different question. Breaking established ties requires a good proximate cause, in my opinion, and I don't think we have one.

As far as the feeder policy goes, many people knew that's what the FRA... member regions were doing anyway. :P Having it written down is a step in the right direction, I think, in that it clarifies what has already been going on for some time. I appreciate the greater transparency.

I'm in no position to engage in the high-faluting debate that's been going on here so far, so I'll just bring it down to sea level. Perhaps FRA doesn't always act with clean hands, or perhaps that's mostly raider obfuscation. But they seem to have done well by us in ways that we still need to be done well by. And as Nai put it, we need "good proximate cause" to break what amounts to a working alliance.

By all means, as we become strong again and as the RRA becomes an army to be reckoned with once more, we also should enter into open talks with them to discuss frankly any concerns we may have with how they carry out their defending --- with how clean their hands really are. But I don't see us becoming that strong quickly if we break our relationship with them now. The wise use of a channel of communication --- an active relationship with them --- would seem to me easier if we don't first break that relationship.

And if Biyah's concerns should turn out to be accurate, we still can deal with them at a later time.
Peace,
TT
