Just briefly for the moment, but I wanted to get some of these ideas out and see what people thought before we're right in the middle of elections. I'm going to shamelessly steal ideas from everyone I've been talking to on and off over the last week, so if you spot an idea that looks like yours (Sedge, Spartan, Anur, and TT especially), it probably is. ![]() Officers - I like TT's idea about having Officers apply with a specific position in mind. For those who are passionate about some aspect of the game, I think that sort of arrangement would be ideal. My goal in assigning positions for the Officers is not so much to carry out some set agenda as it is to make sure people have the authority and support from the region to do what they love. Now, that said, if you don't know what you would like to do but you're looking for something fun to try or a way to help out, I've got some ideas of my own, and I'd be happy to assign an Officer position or two along those lines. Mostly this revolves around getting new players involved here - and I'm completely open as to how. From forum spam games to contests to ideas for the RMB/WFE to RP to WA drafting/debate... whatever you think sounds fun - whatever gets you excited enough to want to share it with others - that's what we need to build on. I think TT also suggested having 'understudies' of sorts for the Officers. That is, people who think they might want to try their hand at being an Officer, but don't feel comfortable taking the lead on a project of their own yet. Maybe Foreign Affairs sounds interesting, but it's intimidating - well, try it out and see how it works. TRR's a great region, yeah... but it's great because of us - because of all of you. You all are more than qualified to lead this region. You already are leaders in this region if you're here reading this forum. And I for one can't wait to see what we all can do.

Interesting. See how it works this time round, change things accordingly the next time. Sounds like a plan, Batman |

I like that idea - see how it goes for now and make notes for changes necessary. |

Understudies/deputies look good. I'd love to have someone helping out with Foreign Affairs... I agree with having a bit more freedom about Officers roles this first time around - we're only just getting stuff set up, so I doubt we entirely know what we want done. Once we get challenges against existing Officers in the future, though, I imagine we'll want a bit more from the Delegate on what they want to see the victorious candidate doing. |

Yup. I figure we'll develop some regional goals and priorities as we go. Mostly, I'd like to see what sort of interests we have to work with as a foundation for this first round, and use that to help set the agenda going forward. To return to the point about understudies/deputies, though, maybe we should turn that into an open invitation: anyone feel like trying their hand at Foreign Affairs? One thing that might help with this is if each officer could post some kind of summary of what's involved in being his/her understudy. It doesn't have to be anything fancy; we don't want to box in the officers so much that we stifle them. It could be a couple of sentences, just enough so people will have some idea, something like "this office is trying to accomplish a and b by doing x and y. It'll means you'll be involved in helping me plan this and do that and maybe think about the other thing." That way, people who might be interested in being an understudy can have a little bit of an idea of what they're getting into and what will be expected of them. They might even start bringing some ideas to the table. Just a thought. I'm not sure it's a good one; this is a Monday. |
