Okay. I want a Cave Story-setting D&D 0E game. If you're interested, please post your interest, and I will give you the PDF password. I'm going to have to do some research first, so this space is blank for now. EDIT: First of all, monks are out. No exceptions; they kinda step on other classes. An improvement from 3.x but no. Second, races. Androids, Gaudi (roach-people. Yes, I'm serious), Mimiga, Humans. Their advantages are listed below. Androids: Androids are incapable of using magic, and as such are barred from the Cleric, Druid, Magic-User, and Ranger classes. They are immune to poison and disease, and increase their hit die by 1 size (d4>d6>d8>d10), but cannot be raised from the dead unless their Constitution is at least 13, in which case they have only a 15% survival rate. They otherwise use the normal table for resisting great shocks to their systems. Gaudi: Gaudi are more about survival than nobility, and as such are barred from the Paladin and Ranger classes. They gain a +5 bonus to saves to resist poison and disease, and can hover with their wings at half their movement. Humans: Humans have no special weaknesses or strengths. Mimiga: Mimiga have a single racial "ability" - the power to ingest the petals of a plant that grows on the islands and transform into ravenous beasts. However, they start to lose control the more the flower corrupts their personality; for each petal consumed, the mimiga has a 1-in-6 chance of losing control of themselves for a short time. If this chance ever reaches 6-in-6, they cannot control their murderous impulses any longer. Each consumed petal grants a +1 bonus to Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution. Should the penalty of control be removed, in part or in whole, the mimiga loses the appropriate bonus. Third, AC is ascending, for ease of transition. No THAC0. So use the numbers in the brackets in the PDF. Fourth, rules for Chargen: Typical 0E has you roll everything. Even your first hit die, even your stats (3d6, not 4d6 minus lowest, and rolled in order)! Stat rolls stay as-is, with only wild cases subject to rerolls, but hit dice are considered to roll at least a 4 on the first hit die (so Magic-Users start with max HP!). After that, it lands as it does. Fifth, there will be laser guns, powered by special crystals, and they will be better weapons overall. However, they will have limited ammo. Also, current ranged weapons will be upgraded a couple notches. Old Ranged Weapons: Arrows, Long: 1d8 (used with longbow) Arrows, Short: 1d6+1 (used with shortbow) Bolts, Heavy: 1d6 Bolts, Light: 1d4 New Ranged Weapons: Laser Crystal (20 ammo): by weapon, by weapon, by weapon, .5 lbs, 3 gp Laser Pistol: 2d6, Rate 2, 60 ft, 4 lbs, 100 gp Laser Eagle: 2d8, Rate 2, 100 ft, 9 lbs, 125 gp Laser Rifle: 3d4+3, Rate 1, 150 ft, 16 lbs, 175 gp Laser 'Zooka: 4d6+4, Rate 1, 220 ft, 25 lbs, 250 gp Edited by Machaeus, Jul 3 2011, 10:58 AM.
