The pet peeves thread got me thinking about other weird things. Atti gets really bad plaque build up on his canines and I can't help myself from picking it off. It's like the crown jewel of all 'picking' for a picker. I even bought a dog tooth scaler on Amazon to help. I think it's a sickness. So what weird things do y'all do? |

I twirl my hair. I hate it. I cannot stop and don't even know I am doing it. I got pulled over in Orinda for talking on my cellphone, and I wasn't on my phone. The policeman and I were confused (he looked at my phone and history). I called my husband and he was like, I bet you were driving along twirling your hair!!!!" |

LOL I twirl my hair too. Mostly when I'm nervous though. I really like to sit up at night, in the dark, at like 12am.... when no one else is awake... and just watch total trash TV and have a glass of wine. Not sure if that is a weird habit, or me just desperate for some alone time... lol. |

I also love to pick but my pick-du-jour is smegma off the sheath, dry. Oddly, Frankie loves having this done. So we're a good match that way. |

I count my strides. Between sidewalk cracks, the sections of flooring at work, parking space lines, etc. I know that the distance between the bathroom and my office at work is three 5-stride segments if I'm walking at my normal pace...if I'm in a hurry, I can do them in 4 strides. And the sidewalk between the front door to my building and the back door to the building my boss works in bothers me because its curved and hard to stride out evenly....I have to walk along the very inside edge in order to step over the cracks just right without having to take funny sized steps. I prefer to use the underground tunnel because the flooring sections are easier to deal with but it's been closed for the past 10 months for construction so I'm forced to use the stupid uneven sidewalk. Yeah, I have issues... |

I am a counter, and always to the number "7". I count my strides, sidewalk blocks, steps, cracks, etc. Yes, I think I have a little bit of OCD. I don't do it all the time though...I also can't stand if my lips get chapped, because then they get scaley, and then I start picking at them! Ouch. I also cannot stand for the barn aisle to be dirty (hay bits, dirt from cleaning hooves, etc). While we are grooming/working in the barn, I can deal with it, but as soon as the horses are away, out comes my leaf blower. When we have a full barn, and are riding everyone in a day, I sometimes blow the aisle 4 times. It drives Mr. SSR batty.

You guys crack me up! I can't think of any weird habits like you have. I think I'm too lazy to be a picker...I'm more of a "good enough" sort of groomer. Same with tack cleaning, barn cleaning, etc. Although I guess I'd like it to be better but I don't have time.I have been called obsessive about my little riding arena, especially as the free sand I got at one point was full of rocks! So I obsessively picked little rocks out of it for a few years, and would actually get really excited if I found a big rock. The kids were riding with a tiny 4H barn at the time and their arena was just filled with rocks and it drove me nuts. I like to drag my arena almost as much as I like riding in it when freshly dragged. It's sort of like a big zen garden for me. I guess under the "picky" weird things - I cannot stand eye-boogers in any animal and will wipe them out of other people's dogs and horses if I see them. Yuck! Even at dog shows sometimes people don't seem to care/notice or fix it. That's much weirder, in my opinion! |

I don't know, but I am obsessive about picking up sticks and leaves, I hand pick all the flower beds in the spring, That is what I have been doing for the last two days~ Finally warm. I use a big muck bucket sit in the garden and hand pick all the junk. I mean to the last partially decomposed leaf! Now that is a sickness!

Nice to know I'm not the only picker, but chestnuts and ergots drive me batty. Not so bad I'll peel them off someone's horse just because, but if I'm grooming one (rare these days!) and they're super long, off they go. Eye boogers too. Also, I feel like I'm pretending to be an adult because I still pick at my fingernails and cuticles, and you'd think I would have outgrown that childish habit at this point. |

Oh eye boogers! No animal within my reach can have eye boogers. They're just not okay. I can't have eye boogers either. Every time I look at a mirror up close I have to make sure my eyes are booger free. |

Not confessing to any odd habits today, but True Confession time, I am suffering from a horrible case of Petty Brain today. Sister Mercy, you ever have one of those days when the snark-o-meter goes to 11? True story: two of my children's friends have parents who are going through really rough divorces. Courts involved, parents not speaking, kids shuttling in between, multi-nationals, want to live in different countries, horrible, horrible stuff. But, you know, it's interfering with my plans right now, so today, I was all, "For the love of Mike, can't they just get along because these people masquerading as grownups are really messing with my schedule?" |

*Shudder* I don't do odd numbers; they make me all nervous. Really, there's something freaky wrong with them. Evens or get-out-of-town. |

Cannot. Enter a dark room without snaking my arm around the door frame to turn the lights on first. I had a paralyzing fear of aliens as a child which now translates into an absolute inability to enter a dark room if I'm by myself. No worries if hubby is in the room sleeping, for example. The 'flashlight' app was the first to be loaded on my iPhone. I am also a counter, but I just count things and assign them to groups ... how many kinds of car x do I see on my commute home? How many women wearing hats to church? And thanks to my trainer teaching me to count down towards a jump, I now count down to the end of something (the moving sidewalk at the airport is my most frequent obsession). There are so many others... but I'm afraid of revealing just how OCD I can be.

DW: I'm a fingernail picker as well. No cuticles, but I do pick at callouses. Ugh. I HAVE to make my bed every morning. EVERY.DAMN. MORNING. I have 6 decor pillows and they have to be on the bed...even though I cover the whole thing up with a sheet so Oz doesn't get cat hair all over it. I also keep my pjs under my pillow. I don't think that's weird (where else would you keep them?) but others do. I watch the odometer in my car for palindromes or sequences. I think it is super awesome when my clock and odometer create a palindrome. After all these years, I still like to see 10:13 and 11:21 on clocks. (<-- if you know this reference )I can't stand it when a my horses have sweat marks on their faces. I don't like it on them at all, but it makes me especially crazy on their faces. |

I am also a counter! I knew how many steps it was to the AP dept at my old job. With my leg every step counts. I also count the sea lions on sea lion rock! I used to count strides while crossing a street! RR I like even numbers too. Comes from walking lines at horse shows. Not happy if I get there on an odd number of course! |
