Having fed Purina ONE lamb & rice or weight control for years, I was a bit shocked at the review on Dog Food Advisor.

So, I just bought the Nature's Recipe grain-free food. http://naturesrecipe.com/ultra-premium/grain-free/chicken-sweet-potato-and-pumpkin/
I was a bit shocked at the cost, having gotten used to spending $23 or so on the 18# bag of Purina, but we will see how they do on it... It got a 3.5/4 on DFA.

My girl is mostly Beagle. She's very active and fit (walk about 3 miles 5 or 6 times per week). Medium energy level. Likes to play with toys inside the house but for 10 minutes or so. Spends the rest of the time sleeping.

There's a store near me that only carries "specialty foods", some of which have been mentioned here. I think I may stop in, explain my situation, and see what they say. I also suppose I need to do a bit of research into dog nutrition. I liked boarding horses better...someone else decided all of this for me. :D

If it is the regular Adult kibble (purple bag), it is 25% protein and 13% Fat, which means the carb content is through the roof at an estimated 62%! I'd go with a higher protein, higher fat food. And chicken is one of the common allergens for dogs - I listed them in my previous post - so I'd ditch that as well. She is a hunting breed, at least in part, so I think she could use more meat content and it will probably even out her digestive tract.

From my research, the three I would recommend you look at are

Acana Grasslands 33%P, 17%F

Instinct Rabbit Formula 35%P, 22%F

Nature's Logic Venison 38%P, 18%F

JMHO.
