Dress rehearsal - ballet video!

 Tonight was our dress rehearsal...madame at some point decided to improve the timing so that we had more time so you won't see the problems I was talking about the other day. I did mess up at the beginning and totally blanked on where I was and what I was supposed to do, but all the practice I did helped and my body just took over.

I wasn't nervous in my head, but my feet were wobbly! I've never been on stage before!

At the beginning I'm on the far right so you can't really see me, but when we move to the left on the screen, I'm in front.

I only started dancing in January, so please be kind! ;) :hug:

 You guys look awesome Fishy!!! You did a superb job! Ballet looks so challenging to me.

I can't wait to show M when she gets home. She loved your last vid and was quite impressed that I "know" a ballet dancer!

Thanks, you guys! It is really hard! Of course I never thought it was easy, but wrapping my mind around which way my legs go vs. which way my arms go was confusing at first and I thought I'd never get it!

Hah! I was thinking that person had really wonderful arms and nicer position than everyone else. Makes sense now. Crazy legs looks better here...like she's actually focusing and trying.


You look amazing...especially for having been at it for such a short time.

 I wasn't going to say anything the first go-round but this is the second video you've posted. Maybe I am the only one thinking this... but if I was someone in an adult beginner dance class and I stumbled upon a video that included me, with one of my classmates calling me "crazylegs," I'd be exceptionally hurt. Especially because, to my admittedly mainly untrained eye, she looks to have the most correct technique/training out of anyone in the video. This class is supposed to be for fun, I understand why you'd want to share videos of yourself and I also understand why it would be difficult to crop out your classmates-- but even gentle name-calling seems unkind to me, under the circumstances. It's a nice number. Good luck with the recital.

She is a more advanced student and a lovely dancer - I don't think that I have anywhere said otherwise. :huh: In fact, I have made the same comment in class. And I certainly have never posted on my videos any negative comments about anyone. I would love to be as long and lean and graceful and skilled as she is.

Where you read "gentle name calling" may be part of an inside conversation that you are not privvy to. Heck, throughout college my friends called me "Smelly" as a nickname. If they were talking about me to someone and used that name, they were not being rude even though someone might have taken it that way.

But, um, thanks for the well-wishes.... :huh: :sigh:

That wasn't the connotation I got from your use of the term.

Last time you posted about ballet and called her "Crazy Legs" it prompted kassandra to say "You look better than crazy legs to me, no matter how long she has been doing it. She looks...well...crazy "

I didn't notice you correct her and say "no no, I meant crazy-long legs, not crazy-looking." But regardless. Would you call this lady "Crazy Legs" to her face, even if you meant it as a compliment? Do you? How would you feel if you stumbled across a video of you on the web and someone was calling you a name, even if they meant it as a compliment?

What your college friends call you to your face is a whole nother ball of wax than what a dance classmates is calling you on the web. I'd be VERY HURT if I discovered a video of me out there somewhere and I was being called "Crazy Legs" in any context. That's really different than a nickname a friend calls you to your face.

 Great job Susan, Really brings back memories as I danced for 14 years. Man Many moons ago.
The blonde in the front, she has nice lines, Looks to be more experienced. Is that the instructor?

 I do not control what Kassandra says.

Yes I have spoken to Crazylegs in person about her "nickname" - you are jumping into something here that isn't something to jump into. I'm sorry if perhaps someone in the past has said something to hurt you personally. I do not identify anyone in the video by name, as I assume they wouldn't want people to know who they are. I think EVERYONE did a great job - we are all at different levels, and we all try very hard.

v, you seem to have a knack for turning an opportunity for positivity into a negative thing. What I simply wanted to share out of joy has turned into something that is far from what I intended.

Sanny, the tall, skinny blonde is the lovely dancer whom we are referring to as CL.

Gunnar, YouTube won't allow the video on phones because of the musical content - lame!

To the others, thanks for your comments - I'm taking my video out of public mode for now.
