Allright so the move has not been so sweet for Miss Toons or me. Had a HUGE abscess week two which took another week to break through the coronary band. Got that all healed up and with the first snowstorm, she apparently slipped on the snowpack or lost her footing and pulled something high up in her hind end. No swelling, no visible marks on her or her blanket but her hind end is "wonky" for lack of a better term. Getting better daily. All systems are otherwise functioning normally (eating, drinking, peeing, pooping...) but she is pretty sore. Any petite ***JINGLES*** for her soundness would be appreciated. Farrier will be out Tuesday to remove last shoe (she wears fronts only) and "winterize" her feet.

Oh Fishy...I haven't even told you the best part BO has decided that she just can't handle her (she's so BIG lol) so I have to drive out twice a day to let her out and bring her in...not sure how long this is going to last. To be fair La Loons was a bit...um...high strung the first three weeks, but seriously NOTHING bad just jiggy. BO just can not handle it in "a larger horse" which kinda cracks me up (La Loons is just over 16.1 btw). Naturally as soon as I started turning her out she's been a plow horse in and out all but one day when the wind was howling. There is one other boarder that is leaving this week and as soon as she does Loons will take that mares spot with another gelding in the pasture. Things "might" get better as her turnout area is much closer to the barn and the BO "might" consider turning her out for me in the mornings (because she can just open her stall door and let her out). *le sigh* Not sure where else I would move her at this point...but I am looking around just in case.I swear it just should not be THIS hard!!!!! You do have a little barn in your back yard, right? Then it would be easy - and cheaper!!!!!

It is pan "B" right now. Keeping a horse at 9000 feet during the Colorado winter is not really my idea of a good time either but if I'm going to have to DRIVE twice a day I may as well keep her here, right???

Yes, better to have her home than to have you driving about in the snow!!!! Although you'll need to plow a path to the manure pile!

for you!
