Here in the Middleburg area its just been raining pretty steadily and the winds are howling but not alot of branches down... yet. We're not supposed to get up to the highest winds until tonight. I'm hoping that most of the vulnerable trees came down in the derecho in July but I am 100% sure we will lose power, just a matter of when! Ponies are tucked up in their barns or huddled under sheds.

Hope everyone is ok. Seems like we got nothing. Heard a bit of wind and it definitely rained, but I don't think even very much. Just looking at the photos from NYC... :o what a nightmare! Wow!

Hope everyone fared ok in the storm. We got moderate winds and tons of rain, lots of branches and trees down but nothing major. Our front lamp post fell down but is still working, lol. We had power the whole time, though a lot of friends in surrounding towns lost it at one point or another. I didn't go into work yesterday, I was nervous to drive and I am scheduled off today. It's on and off downpouring today and we are supposed to get thunderstorms.

We got so much rain last night and very high winds (we have a young Oak tree in our front yard that was doubled over by the wind at times), but we made it through the night with power in tact. I think the derecha this summer was a bit of a blessing because it took out so many dead trees and branches. We haven't left the house yet but a quick scan of our neighbors properties reveals nothing down at all. It's still raining and a bit windy but not bad.

I'm hoping to make it up to the barn later today, if the roads are clear. I know Heili's owner lost power at her place last night and she's a few hundred yards from the barn, so they're probably out there too. Fortunately it's not fan season and they have enough water stored in tanks to last a few days until the wells are operational again.

Hope everyone else is safe and as dry as possible!

A request. As you give reports, could you mention your (approximate) location. I don't
always remember where everyone lives and without location it is a little hard to put
together a picture of how things are going. Very glad to read that nobody so far has
had any terrible damage.

We're just north of DC in Maryland. Based on friend's reports, it seems that the VA suburbs got hit worse than we did.

It wasn't too bad at our place (central VA) either. Some wind and lots of rain, power stayed on. I let my horses out this morning and they were nutso after being locked up for 24 hours. :o Remi was being a punk about standing still to get his sheet on so I told him eff you and put him out naked. He's fat so he can deal with being wet and cold for a day. My old guy has his blanket on as it was 35 degrees and light rain when I put them out.

Glad that it seems the worst of Sandy missed most of our peeps here. :)

here in the Middleburg VA area, lots of steady rain and wind ALL NIGHT... howling... but we still have power! It's a miracle. I actually totally agree with you Indy, the derecho knocked everything vulnerable down, so thankfully we were spared. I mean there may be one stick down in my driveway... not even enough for Trixie to play with :cheer:

Power is out at the barn but we're going to go and check on the ponies, I know they are fine, but we want to see them anyway :)

My friends and family up in CT are not so lucky, out of power, but at least everyone is ok.

South Jersey...

we got really lucky. Lots of win, lots of rain but that was it. No damage to trees/property in my neighborhood. No flooding (at least not yet). Power stayed on. Everything's just really quiet right now. It's not even raining?! We got SUPER lucky.

Western Ma. High winds all night, moderate amount of rain. Lot's of trees down and power outages, but thankfully I have power at my house. I live in the woods, house is surrounded by tall trees. I am the only resident on a dirt road, so if the power goes out, I am not exactly the top priority! The sun is actually trying to come out now. I am very relieved. Major weather problems are the only time I do not like living alone.
