I am quite shocked by Shawn's situation. So many surgeries so close to each other! Where the tumours all in the (same) breast? I have noticed here that they now first treat with chemo, then surgery, then radiation. Chemo for one year?? I really wish her well. Her attitude is amazing. I am doing fairly well. Only 7 treatments left. My skin is reacting though, especially in the armpit where it is quite raw and peeling. The technicians suggested saline solution to keep the area clean and Polysporin cream with pain relief. It helps! Luckily, only 2 more treatments to that area. It will not stop peeling for a while, but mentally I know the source of the irritation will stop. The 5 last treatments are aiming at the incision. The rest of the area is quite red and itchy, but the other cream helps there too. I will be glad when it's over! And when I get my laptop back. Tablet typing is a pain! |

I am glad you checked in FI. I do not know about where the tumors were. Shawn is trying to avoid radiation. I have not seen Shawn as I live 90 miles away. Just what I see on her care page. Her spirit remains in tact with her sense of humor strong too! Cancer sucks! |

How is Shawn doing? I am happy to report that I have now completed my radiation treatments!! I am done, as in "cooked like dinner"... but it will heal! Hoping Shawn is recovering from all her surgeries and is going to start treatment soon. I will be thinking of her! |

Thanks for the update FI. Shawn has been spared radiation. She starts chemo this week. Per usual her spirit and sense of humor are alive and well! Continue your battle FI! |

Frankly, having had both, radiation is much easier on the body than chemo. I was lucky to be strong and not have a bad experience with chemo, but still. You lose your hair, your skin changes all over your body, you are tired, you may get some abscesses in your mouth, etc. None of that with radiation. Just a bad sunburn in the armpit... I wish her well. |
