Thank you all. I got the word today that treatment starts tomorrow at 6:45 pm. It will take 45 minutes the first time. It will not be at that time for the duration. They are so busy that they have to work later right now. My treatments will take 15 min. after tomorrow and the time will change until they find a spot that is convenient for me for the rest of the treatments. I am anxious to start the countdown... I was told it is just like a 2-3 min. x ray.. I am not nervous and the hospital is not far, so no long drive! |

One down, 29 to go. They had a cancellation and offered me an earlier appointment. It went well. Compared to chemo, it's a piece of cake frankly. You just have to stay very still until they tell you you can move. The first 3 treatments are a bit longer because of the setting up, but after that, I should be in and out of the treatment room in 15 minutes! I am just hoping I won't have any skin irritation or fatigue... but I never had a problem during chemo, so this should be fine! Thanks for the jingles and good thoughts! |

Got treatment no. 3, 27 to go! Yesterday was NOT my day! It could have been worse and after a good sob session, I can now laugh about it. First the treatment was 45 minutes late because of problems with the previous patient/machine. They squeezed me in another treatment room not to delay me further (which was great of them!). I talked to the patient this morning and she said it took over an hour, but today we both were in and out in 15 min.). Then I went to the barn and quickly locked my keys in the car (rubber boots, sweater, carrots, etc. obviously locked in there as well). Sent a text to my husband that he had to bring me the second set of keys and decided in the meantime to get my mare (and the gelding we are looking after... but he is leaving at the end of next week and my DD and I are VERY emotional about that, but that's another story) to remove their rain sheets and let them graze together. Of course, I don't have my rubber boots and I am wearing my nice Blundstones and it's muddy around the gates. I decide to get my mare first because I can let go of the lead rope while she grazes and I get the gelding in the next field... Well, maresy sees me and wants to come, but being the pushover that she is, turns around when another mare decides SHE wants to come ... so I decide to very gingerly go along the electric fence line (where it is not as muddy) to meet her. She comes to me, I put the halter on and turn to start walking back to the gate when I hear canter steps coming up... Stupid mare (she is twice the size of the other mares!) decides to just escape by ramming into me, pushing me down into the mud and stepping over me. I made myself as small as I could and counted one, two feet, but three and four got me. Back of the head, and lower back. She did not step ON me (she was really trying to avoid me!), but her big Clyde feet did clip me. Results? goose egg on the back of the head, and pain and red marks down my back... Got out of the field with her... then she tries to run over me again going into her stall. We had a loud discussion then! But I was shaky, muddy, walked past other boarders and BO and burst into tears!! Then hubby phones.. and I am sobbing and not ready for his jokes about locking keys in car!! After calming down, I did get the gelding who was waiting for me at the gate (but had another moment of yelling at another horse. This time I was angry and NOONE was going to give me trouble!) and I let him graze until hubby arrived. DD was coming from one hour away to try and spend some time with gelding for maybe the last time (at least at this barn and I hope the owner will be true to her word and let her see him again - you don't look after a horse for 4 years + while owner is ???? mia - bills paid by daddy - and not get attached!). Anyway, it could have been worse. I did ruin the top I was wearing since I could not change into my barn sweater... big hole in the elbow! I am sore all over today and NOT going near the barn. Too bad if she is warm with her rain sheet! It will rain this afternoon anyway! Sorry about the novel! I was very emotional then (mostly because of the gelding), but later on, we laughed about my 3s yesterday! |

OMG....awww..... ![]() Are you ok? What a way to add insult to injury by knocking you down into the mud. I think they do it on purpose!! At least you didn't get shocked by the fence too - that is probably what would have happened to me. ![]() I am glad you can laugh about it now, but it sounds completely rotten. Hope you got some TLC after that bad day.

Crap, you really had a day FI! At least you didn't get zapped by the fence in the process, so there is that small silver lining... Hope the soreness goes away soon and that today is less...eventful...for you!
