No real news. He sent over our 2nd written offer this morning, her realtor intimated that she would come back just 15k less than her last counter. Which is not gonna get us anywhere. So our guy gave her the spiel about how they have their head in the clouds in terms of what they think they are going to get out of the property. And we are actually spending MORE money than any other buyer would, because we are also purchasing business assets in addition to the property.

We are ending negotiations after this week.... we just can't hang out in limbo forever and we refuse to pay more than what it is valued at. We need to know if this is going to fly or not, ASAP, so Mr. FG can exit his job as soon as possible. He is sending out resumes at the moment so hopefully something either happens on that front, or with the property... either way at this point I don't really care, as the job stress is killing him and our life!

Flashy-I hope he's sending resumes to places in NC. I don't know why but I think that might be a good fit for all of you, and areas around Asheville and Marion are booming with lots of new people, and especially retirees. Retirees and families mean lots of health care (isn't he in something medical?). And that area is great for camps and other outdoor type recreation with the proximity to the Blue Ridge parkway. And the entire family will follow right after you. Have you considered federal government jobs? There's a great VA medical center at Asheville, and jobs will be listed on usajobs.gov, and if he does a resume on there he can upload transcripts, etc., and he can indicated the geographic areas he's interested in, and make his resume searchable, so personnel offices can find him. He just has to search for job titles, find out what job series that fits his job history, and set up an email alert for new announcements to be sent to him.

Maybe this first place is not your final destination, but a way for you to see a new way forward. I still think that you'll get more bang for your buck further south, because you'll have more of a camping season than this camp could have.

I agree with Jan. Maybe this isn't your camp, but there will be one for you guys.

Has Mr. FG looked at camp manager jobs anywhere? Is that something he'd be interested in in the meantime?

Wellspring (I think that's the name) the camp from Too Fat for Fifteen has a location in NC, and they do year round programs. I think the kids are in dorms with roommates, and then the kids go to school during the year. It's an interesting set up. http://www.wellspringacademies.com/northcarolina/activities.html is their activities list, and I think they teach the school classes on site. Not that I think running a boarding school is a good idea, but it shows what some places offer for activities, and what their location looks like. I think for year round activities you would need the dorm style setup so you don't have to heat/cool and maintain a lot of cabins or lodges. You might look at the Blue Ridge parkway hotels too.

Jan I always love your posts... didn't know you were a librarian!

Right now the farm thing is sort of my lesser worry, I am more stressed about the state of Mr. FG's job and in general, the state that HE is in. But he seems to have turned a corner today, he is getting some hits on his resume and he only started sending it out on Tuesday. So we should have a Plan B and Plan C and Plan D should Plan A of the camp fall through. Also as my dad said tonight, and as many of you have said... it doesn't have to be *this* property... there are plenty of others out there.

Sending big hugs to you and especially Mr. FG.

Of course being able to make ends meet is a necessity....but so many of us define ourselves by our *career* (capital C)....if there is a way for him to make ends meet while he finds his path, then I say go for it.

Maybe *this* camp, maybe working at another camp until you can purchase YOUR camp, maybe something else...But life is too short to be so miserable for a *career*.

Do you what you need to do to make it work for now....even if it means giving the big F.U. to the current company... ;)

I will admit, I've always fantasized about doing just that. :teehee:

Fingers crossed for good news on all fronts.... :luck: :luck: :luck:

This is all so true! I think he is struggling too because he has invested 10+ years into this particular career path, and a lot of time and energy, to the detriment of his family and his health and our relationship... and it has gotten him nowhere but into a very toxic situation. So now he is holding on to a tremendous amount of guilt, on top of worrying about the security of his current job.

The seller came back with their response, which was ridiculous, so I am not sure where that leaves us. I am kind of annoyed as her realtor KNEW our number..... and pressed us to offer.... yet her seller just keeps coming back with ridiculous counter offers. We are making our last and final offer tomorrow and then that is that. I am not particularly hopeful at this point.

Dunno too much stuff up in the air right now. I am someone who likes to fix things as soon as I start to see them go wrong, but I don't know what to do at the moment. Colton is doing fabulously but still requires a lot of special attention, and cannot go to daycare right now.. so my hands are tied in terms of me giving up freelancing to go back full-time. Just hoping the camp thing comes through, or hubby finds a new job ASAP....

I too wish he could just walk in ad give them a big FU.... ;)

Thanks guys as always for the awesome support and advice... what would I do without TOC?? (go crazy, probably...)
